    Lovely way of putting it
  2. Sounds like they're just naming available left backs to me.
  3. Everyone Just sick of every thread under the sun turning into the whole Cash + Signings + Old Board vs New Board shite. Snorefest. I'm tired of it as well TBH, will try not to respond to those posts so much in future.
  4. I guess he's hoping that a deal will happen anyway and he'll still get any bonus he is due. That or he genuinely hasn't decided he wants to leave enough to actually ask for it, and he's just expressing his frustration.
  5. I know what you're saying, but I think the fact we're not far off having a really good squad is also a positive. We're not as good as we could be, but we're not as bad as some of Ashley's mistakes might have made us either. For better or worse, he has been in charge long enough to take some of the credit if he has to get all of the criticism. He knows nothing about running a football club, maybe he is learning. It's not fast enough for the fans really, but it's better than things only getting worse.
  6. Carrying some debt is fine, it's the amount the sustainability of it that's the problem. As well as the rate that it's increasing. Obviously it's still a balance of risk and prudence like, Ashley might be avoiding the risk of over spending but he's also increasing the risk of the club under performing, unless he continues to unearth Tiote-esque signings.
  7. Don't see how you can believe that. He's a young player who's stock is at an all-time high and he realises his potential. His contract is coming to an end, so I would have thought he would be looking for a big move, pay rise and international exposure. If we were a team spending money suggesting we were pushing for the top six and beyond, I genuinely believe he'd want to stay. I believe he likes it here and would happily stay if we were headed in the direction that we could be headed if we were matching our potential with cold hard cash. He can't see how we're going to get over the top 10 any time soon doing what we are doing and as such, he wants to move to a club that is already there. Fair enough, neither of us are doing anything other than speculating.

  9. I feel about the same as this. Fans always want more transfers, and I think we have tried to do some good deals. N'Zogbia seems like an exception, but I can see why we didn't go for him after signing Marveaux and getting HBA back.
  10. I don't get this. We aren't a Champions League club and even with substantial investment we won't be one for a number of years. So players like Enrique will sometimes be offered the chance to go somewhere 'better'. Even the Europa League isn't guaranteed I don't see how this is a massive failing on the part of the club. The spending required to "match Enrique's ambition" might have had to be on Man City levels. The simple fact is that he is good enough to play for a top club right now.
  11. Why do we even need excuses, if the squad is better than before?
  12. If long is available for £5m up front I would snap him up TBH.
  13. I don't remember anyone saying he hasn't made any mistakes. Quite the opposite in fact. The current approach to contracts is obviously different, in part due to him getting his fingers burnt over the likes of Smith.
  14. So you actually want us to pay them to do nothing?
  15. Obviously we'll register all three if they're still here, when does a club ever have that many highly-paid players not registered for the squad?? I think never is the answer.
  16. I'm an optimist, but I'm not sure it will be that easy. Hopefully you're right like.
  17. Don't think Ranger's football is any worse than his athleticism TBH. Most of the good stuff I've seen him do included a good amount of technique. Athletically he's spot on, man. As a footballer, he's most certainly not. Well fair enough he's not the finished article as a player. If that's what you meant I agree. But if you were implying he is just an athlete and has little technique, then I disagree strongly.
  18. Nile managed to string that sentence together? The maths alone is pretty impressive for a footballer.
  19. Why is Luke being such a pain in the arse?

  21. The reason why we sold Nolan had little to do with him being happy or not. NUFC was sensible and didn't want to give him a 5 year contract, but West Ham did. His fitness is questionable and will be even more so as he gets older. The same goes for Barton too. Neither SAF or Wenger hand out lengthy contracts to players in that age group, and nobody is branding them as idiot for following that policy. With todays salaries, it's the sensible option imo. Having two aging, expensive permacrocks (worst case scenario) on the bench that no other clubs want, is not good for the club. It's this scenario we're now experiencing with Smith. He's cashing in, and we cannot reinforce the squad without him leaving. But nobody is interested in him. Two spot on posts I reckon.
  22. Would be great if joey has managed to say the right things to him, and he takes them on board. They're such a couple of mentalists they would probably get on quite well.
  23. I know other players may become unhappy that their contracts won't be as good as before. But that doesn't necessarily mean they're right.
  24. Got to put Shola in against the mackems. Give him the number nine on the eve of the game to boost him, then take it away the day after. Job done.
