  1. Agree with that assessment, hope we don't sell Best. Although my sentimental side also wants Shola to bang in a few.
  2. Christ, that's terrible and amazing.
  3. Both of the 'unhappy' players are coincidentally the ones who are coming to the end of their contracts as well. While you could argue that's because the new contract offers aren't fair, you could also say it was part of a player's normal noises when they want a move.
  4. This is correct. I seem to recall there was almost universal condemnation/unhapiness at some of Barton's first tweets. This is the same Enrique that said he wanted to spend the rest of his career here. It appears he has changed his mind. He is now unhappy and wants to leave. He tweets a load of inflammatory comments and half the board rally behind him like he's some kind of hero. Seemingly failing to spot that his comments cannot be good for the teams morale whichever way you look at it. The team is changing, as all teams do. If Enrique isn't happy he has to be shipped out and sharpish. It's not rocket science. Coloccini has just been made captain and by all accounts is honoured to take on the role, he's very happy with it. The newest team members all suggest that conversations with Ben Arfa were in some way influentual on their decision to join Newcastle. Do Enrique's comments do anything to enhance this new incarnation of Newcastle United? No, of course they don't. They're a harsh discord in whatever light you look at it. We will all still be here supporting Newcastle long after Enrique has retired from football. Let's get out perspective in place. Enrique should just shut the fuck up, if he's unhappy - fuck off His comments do nothing for team spirit, they do the opposite - so why are so many rushing to defend him? Why do so many rush to defend a regime that is so bad for the club that players and managers consistently try to tell us what a shit job they are doing? Unless you're claiming that what Enrique's said is ultimately going to be worse for the club than years of Ashley mismanagement? That's not really the point. You can think Ashley has made a lot of mistakes (which I do BTW) and still think players shouldn't be criticising the club in public. I support Newcastle Utd, which will be here long after Jose and Ashley are both history.

There's still a year to the Olympics, and a whole football season.
  6. There is also the issue of his off-field behaviour which could easily sabotage his playing career.
  7. Think Taarabt will be playing for PSG, non?

He will also know that there's a point where the exposure of his brand at SJP becomes a bit too much and starts to hinder rather than help him. This will be especially true if he messed with the Newcastle United lettering, which is rightly thought of as iconic. Fingers crossed anyway.
  9. I think calling Carroll "the most promising striker of his generation" might be a wee bit over the top.
  10. His non-reaction is brilliant. I like him despite/because the fact he's obviously a twat. Slightly uncomfortable with him being a millionaire out of football despite not caring very much mind.
  11. But that means you believe that it was possible (realistically) for the club to improve the squad enough this summer to make Jose stay? I'm not sure any amount of signings would have done that. Presumably he didn't want us to spend £10m on another left back either.

Yeah, he owns about 70% of Sports Direct, I doubt he can just use it like a private bank account.
  13. It's clear we've opted for the cheaper deal in Marveaux both in fees and wages probably. This doesn't mean Marveaux's not a quality player but obviously Zog was tried and tested. The proof will be in the pudding next season when we compare how our respective clubs get on. Yep, of course. Fingers crossed Marveaux will play well.
  14. I get the impression that you are Ashley and Llambias's gimp. I get the impression that you're an imbecile. At least I am my own imbecile and not Ashleys. I really wonder if there are some people around here who are paid to defend Ashleys at all costs and against all the evidence of the damage he is doing to United. If you've actually read what I've argued you wouldn't be saying that, it's ridiculous. You know it is possible there are people in the world that don't have the same opinion as you?
  15. Michael Bridges has 19 Premier League goals in a season? Didn't know that, not too shabby.
  16. I'm annoyed we aren't buying him as well TBH, I would have loved to see him back and that price is reasonable. All I can guess is we think we already have enough wide players and/or we won't spend that much on anyone.
  17. The first domino has been tipped. Dum dum dum!
  18. Substantial operating profit?! And what money has Ashley taken out?
  19. We've said this before, it's in the club's interests to get Enrique to sign, whether they want him to stay or not.
  20. The only reason I can see for not signing him is that we already have enough players for the wide positions, so we can't justify spending that much money on another one. Shame though, really wanted to see him back.
  21. I doubt many modern managers have much, if anything, to do with deciding how much a player should be paid. Just IMO.
  22. I get the impression that you are Ashley and Llambias's gimp. I get the impression that you're an imbecile.

"During the current and prior year, advertising and promotional services were provided to companies associated with Mr MJW Ashley, the ultimate shareholder of the company's parent company, St James' Holdings limited. No consideration was paid or payable for these services and the cost associated with the services in the prior year was £42,250." Guess £42k isn't that much, I would have thought the highly-visible advertising was worth more than that. Isn't that the cost to the club? Oh, is it? May have missed the point totally then! What I was wondering is how much we could have got for the advertising on the open market, and if Sports Direct is paying us anything for it.
  24. In your opinion of course! Er, yes.
