UK fellas, how do you follow an away game that you can't attend?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Ridman's topic in Football
You can listen to BBC Newcastle elsewhere in the country, just not when football is on. It must be against the licensing deal to broadcast over the internet or something, not sure. -
Sorry to hear that mate, I've never had a season ticket but I can imagine how brilliant it must be to get to every home game. On the up side, we don't have a waiting list any more so you should easily be able to get one again when things improve.

Squillaci and Koscielny were poor buys. Consider Samba, he cost something ridiculous like £500,000. We need a big, physical defender, who can pass the ball on the deck to play alongside Colo imo. True, if we could get someone like Samba it would be amazing. But I wouldn't want to replace Williamson with a useless lump just for perceived 'physical presence'. The great thing about Samba is that he's actually good... not just big.

It always annoys me that if I lived in Milan or New York I could probably watch all our games, but it's such a hassle in London. -
Aye good point, getting a significantly better player for that position would be pricey. Arsenal have spent a fortune on players who are about as good if not worse.

What? I thought words spoke louder than actions? Or something...

Good point I guess, probably less people would. But Gateshead only get a handful anyway, don't they? Is there any evidence that their attendances benefit from when Newcastle aren't playing? -
Nice pledge Pards!

I thought SEB meant Sylvain Ebanks-Blake?

TBF, responding by challenging something that was never said is a tried and tested method!

I know, we wonder about this all the time. Why aren't we winning the league FFS?!

Yes, he hasn't done much wrong. If we sign a CB I would prefer it to be a "one for the future" type. Or give a chance to one of our youngsters.

I suppose the agreement not to broadcast all the matches would also cover online subscriptions as well. As well as getting all 380 live games over here, the channel which broadcasts the matches also have an online service to watch games on your computer live. Yeah, I know the reason they don't do it, but it's a totally outdated concept IMO. They should be making money out of the people who want to watch on TV and on the internet, not blocking them. I'm still not convinced it would affect attendances that much, although it might force ticket prices down a bit. Would like to see it trialled for a season or two at least. Basically I just want to be able to watch the games! -
Who do you think is going down, and who is coming up?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Stifler's topic in Football
Villa going down would be sweet, but I don't think it will happen. -
I'll tell you what happened... Fucking Spring arrived and the players found out they are in fuckign Sunderland. It's ok for you lot in the winter, players stay at home, are on the training ground or go on little holidays...the city(?) is dark. As soon as the fucking sun comes out they can see the city they live in. My performances would drop if the sun came out to brighten up Sunderland and I suddenly realised what 'd let myself in for. Fuuuuukin hell, imagine. Its Saturday, and after the game it's their day off... they're gonna have to take the wife to the Glass centre or something. Depressing or what! Don't they all live in Newcastle or Durham though?

Living in London I attend maybe 5 or 6 away games and 3 or 4 home games a season. The only other way to follow it in the UK is via an illegal stream. I can't even listen to the radio as local radio doesn't broadcast football on the internet. I really wish someone would come out with a professional subscription service that meant I could watch the Saturday games legally and pay for it, the Premier League is way behind the times on this issue IMO. -
Either Bartonator or Sholanator, I'm easy.
-
He'll only be replaced if they go down, surely? Would be harsh to sack him after selling his top scorer out from under him.
-
But if you put Leon Best with Shola and Lovenkrands they would finish above Nolan and Barrymore. I don't know what to believe.
-
That's the kind of logic I like to see. Been a lack of that sort of thinking around NUFC forums recently.
-
I reckon Bendtner could potentially get 15 goals if he started every game and the manager had confidence in him. I always thought he gets criticised too harshly, but then again I would like someone who's a safer bet.
-
Ah, but he can also eat an apple and ride a bike at the same time.
-
A new definition of 6 pointers. Every game is one! You obviously aren't aware of the new NUFC points scoring system - every time Nolan scores, Danny Simpson backs off his man, Jonas miss-hits a cross or Joey Barton wears shorts a size too small we get a bonus point.
