  1. See also 'not really that far off the truth' Yeah I know, I was going to add that I think we'll probably lose. Still doesn't help to be making statements like that though.
  2. I think that's in the dictionary under "famous last words"... also "see 'pride comes before a fall' "
  3. It's a fair point TBH, but I still don't agree with leaving early. Support the lads, and don't ruin it for other fans by climbing over them while the game's still happening.

  5. You're so wrong, sorry. The ref's decision is final, simple as that. If he doesn't give a free kick, it wasn't a free kick. That's how it should be viewed IMO. Some of us actually have emotion though and don't go through life trying to be the most PC person on earth. What a crock of shit. Most pedantic answer ever Play a football match then get back to me. Referees can't be treated as some super human being that never make mistakes and can never be questioned, that's fucking ludicrous. Likewise football players can't turn into robots and just accept every decision and get on with the game all smiles when they know that a lot of the time the referee is wrong. If someone thought you were doing your job badly you'd have have to answer questions, why should referees be different? Aye, but if I think someone is wrong at work I can have a quiet word with them outside the meeting, not scream obscenities in their face during it. Nobody is pretending that referees are perfect, that's exactly the point. They're human, and when they make mistakes it should be accepted. It seems that some people expect referees to get everything right, which is mental (and is part of the game). Yes, referees should have to answer questions, to the appropriate people, after the game has finished and everything has calmed down. That's what the assessments are for. But no way should players be allowed to behave like 5 year-olds and throw their toys out of the pram whenever a decision goes against them. Actually, it's even worse for managers, who are in their 40s-70s and really should know better.
  6. Yeah, but one good result and we're great again, there's an upside too!

Some of us actually have emotion though and don't go through life trying to be the most PC person on earth. True, but some of us can behave with a bit of self control. I'm not saying there should be no emotion in sport... but I'm mystified how a rugby player can spend 80 minutes smashing into an 18-stone bloke, getting stamped on, then get up and smile and shake hands. As well as listening to every word the ref says and calling him 'sir'. But David Moyes can run on the pitch and scream in the ref's face because he blows the final whistle at slightly the wrong time. It's childish and embarrassing IMO, professional players and managers should be ashamed that they treat officials with so much disrespect.
  8. I don't think we have enough goal scorers in our squad, can't argue with that really. It would have been great if we could have added a forward in the summer, but we have a load of poor ones on our books... so I can see why we didn't. The prospect of Carroll getting injured is terrifying at the moment, but we'll just have to get through as best we can.
  9. Never understood why people get annoyed at the corners one, the margin of error is obviously tiny because players are trying to whip it in with power. I know they could play it safe and go for a big looping one, but I can understand why it happens.

  11. Football is by far the worst sport I've seen for lack of respect for opponents and officials... it's disgraceful at times. I would love the referees to properly enforce the dissent laws and give many more yellow cards for it.
  12. How? Quite a few of the squad is the same that took us down. It's not totally relevant, but it should be noted that the midfield last time offered nothing in the terms of goals mind. OK, it's only very irrelevant, I'll give you that.
  13. Man, we're a different team to last time around. How many goals we scored and games we won last time around is about as irrelevant as it's possible to be.
  14. They said this on the TV as well, but I don't agree. He dived into the back of Chamakh with both feet off the ground, and got nowhere near the ball. IMO there's a strong case for a sending off.
  15. Yeah, it's the lack of clean sheets that's done the damage. Anything around 40 is a good result.
  16. Anyone who has an iota of football sense about them will know that the axing of Nolan is imminent unless he miraculously gets himself fit. That is so true, he was clearly struggling on Saturday - especially in the second half and I am sure at one point I saw him gesture to the bench to be subbed, that rolling hands movement..... Anyone who, like me, is a bit older but, still trying to play football with younger players will know how tough it is and how quickly you tire. That is what it is like for Nolan I recon, he is just too old to play at the sort of pace expected in the Premier League today. He's only 28, and he's a professional athlete. The guy has no excuse for being off the pace... he's just never been a very fit person I guess.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Agree, one of Hughton's only flaws is how long he takes to make changes. A lot of managers are like that though. I was in favour of playing the same team against Blackpool, but once Tiote and Ben Arfa are fully trained and ready, we really need them to come in for Smith and Nolan.
  18. Don't really understand what you're getting at, surely we're all aware that this is going to be a tough season?
  19. Think I did better than most this week... assists for CY Lee, Fereira, Fabregas, goal for Cahill, Chamakh. No clean sheets like, but not many people have Blackpool defenders. I always spend a lot on my defence, but this season it's much more about the goals and assists.
  20. I think Hughton often realises that Nolan isn't effective, the problem is that he realises it during the game rather than before it. Maybe Nolan's position in the dressing room and his central role in the new 'team spirit' means Hughton is going with hope over expectation to avoid disrupting the squad.
  21. face. palm. I don't think we need a reality check TBH, everyone knows we aren't world beaters. The relegation was a bit of a reality check last time around!
  22. Just logging on for the first time since the game... Basically we were pretty unlucky to lose. Just a mental challenge by Smith and some brilliant saves by the keeper decided it. It's very disappointing to lose to blackpool but the result doesn't tell the whole story. On another day we would have come away with a win. Hopefully we can drop Nolan for Ben Arfa and Smith for Tiote as soon as possible. Tough game next but this season is going to be full of peaks and troughs... the key is to not let either affect us too much and keep working together for results.
