Man, we're a different team to last time around. How many goals we scored and games we won last time around is about as irrelevant as it's possible to be.
-
They said this on the TV as well, but I don't agree. He dived into the back of Chamakh with both feet off the ground, and got nowhere near the ball. IMO there's a strong case for a sending off.

Yeah, it's the lack of clean sheets that's done the damage. Anything around 40 is a good result.

Anyone who has an iota of football sense about them will know that the axing of Nolan is imminent unless he miraculously gets himself fit. That is so true, he was clearly struggling on Saturday - especially in the second half and I am sure at one point I saw him gesture to the bench to be subbed, that rolling hands movement..... Anyone who, like me, is a bit older but, still trying to play football with younger players will know how tough it is and how quickly you tire. That is what it is like for Nolan I recon, he is just too old to play at the sort of pace expected in the Premier League today. He's only 28, and he's a professional athlete. The guy has no excuse for being off the pace... he's just never been a very fit person I guess.

Agree, one of Hughton's only flaws is how long he takes to make changes. A lot of managers are like that though. I was in favour of playing the same team against Blackpool, but once Tiote and Ben Arfa are fully trained and ready, we really need them to come in for Smith and Nolan.
-
Don't really understand what you're getting at, surely we're all aware that this is going to be a tough season?
-
Think I did better than most this week... assists for CY Lee, Fereira, Fabregas, goal for Cahill, Chamakh. No clean sheets like, but not many people have Blackpool defenders. I always spend a lot on my defence, but this season it's much more about the goals and assists.

I think Hughton often realises that Nolan isn't effective, the problem is that he realises it during the game rather than before it. Maybe Nolan's position in the dressing room and his central role in the new 'team spirit' means Hughton is going with hope over expectation to avoid disrupting the squad.

face. palm. I don't think we need a reality check TBH, everyone knows we aren't world beaters. The relegation was a bit of a reality check last time around!

Newcastle United 0 - 2 Blackpool - 11/9/10 - post match reaction from page 20

Just logging on for the first time since the game... Basically we were pretty unlucky to lose. Just a mental challenge by Smith and some brilliant saves by the keeper decided it. It's very disappointing to lose to blackpool but the result doesn't tell the whole story. On another day we would have come away with a win. Hopefully we can drop Nolan for Ben Arfa and Smith for Tiote as soon as possible. Tough game next but this season is going to be full of peaks and troughs... the key is to not let either affect us too much and keep working together for results. -

Aston Villa appoint Alex McLeish as new manager

He clearly wasn't comfortable with this whole thing though. The amount of times he said stuff like "I just need to sit down and work out whether I want to be considered for the job". If you aren't snapping their hands off then you obviously don't want to be a manager. It was obvious he wasn't up for it. -

I don't really understand what's happened with the corner. Surely it should be members sale for a time period, then opened up to everyone like all the tickets are? I don't get what has happened, or why. -
Don't think there's anything wrong with being excited about this signing. It's exciting. (Not sexually)

Don't see any reason why would change the starting 11, barring injuries. -

He didn't really say that: -
From the World Cup highlights he doesn't look that defensive/negative. Does he play in a different role for club and country?
-
15k a week for your first/second choice striker isn't bad at all.

There's no excuses man, these are multi-million-pound sports companies.

Shame the new website is linked up to the shit-awful club shop and ticket buying system.

I'm a bit worried too, mainly just hoping we don't suffer any setbacks to our recent good form. Don't think we should be that worried though, if we play like we have so far this season we should be getting a result. -

I just get a black screen at the moment.

Can't really be worse than the existing one... it's about time it was looked at again.
