  1. To wear the black and white to a game is a beautiful thing, not embarassing in the least. Wearing in round the Metrocentre is a different matter however...
  2. I really hope he turns things around this time, maybe prison was the one thing that would set him right. But I won't be holding my breath, I've seen plenty of interviews with him in the past where he comes across as intelligent, articulate and then goes on to do something stupid again soon after.
  3. Colours - yes. Explosives - nah.
  4. That's what I was about to post, think the same. I believe the system can work if the personnel are right for it.
  5. That would be a very good move for him, top quality football but less physical and fast paced than the premiership. Wonder if he wishes he had never gone to America now?
  6. I suppose the difference with Zog is that we can see he was royally fucked over when he was at the top of his game, inexplicably replaced just because big name Damien Duff was available for a 'bargain' price. He should still pull his finger out and do something I agree, but it can't have been easy for him either.
  7. Not so sure about Styles being dropped though...I would be more in favour of a system where Refs last in the prem for a whole season and then they're reviewed at the end of it. The current system of suspension/demotion only serves to: 1) Encourage a very short-term view of decisions, so one controversial error can overrule a number of good performances. 2) Undermine the referee's authority, as players no they will be there next week and he might be moved down.
  8. Bellamy was the biggest example of a manager having too big an ego to swallow his pride for the good of the team. I think sometimes if players cross over from confident to arrogant, that's where the problems arise. Particularly with old school managers like Souness.
  9. Jeez, bit of a negative view on the whole thing don't you think? Aye, we've been rubbish and need to pick up points. But performances are improving and players are returning from injury - the only way is up! No, I DON'T think its a 'negative view on things'...I think it sums up the situation. Sadly, the 'only way' ISN'T up - its also down, and the Derby game is an unlikely place for any recovery to start, unfortunately... You will learn to avoid excessive exuberance when you have been a supporter of NUFC as long as I have. We are where we are because we deserve to be - the table doesn't lie, and we have been playing relegation football. Well I beg to differ, concentrating on what nightmares might happen just when things are picking up is unduly negative. I don't think that thinking we might move up from where we are is 'excessive exuberance' - I'm not a Newcastle fan to dream up all of the nightmare scenarios that could befall the club. Chin up dude, the recovery has already begun.
  10. What circumstances does it need for a card to be rescinded? It doesn't happen everytime a ref gets a decision wrong does it? I seem to remember that a club can appeal, then the player is available while the appeal is being considered...
  11. Was brilliant to hear such a positive atmosphere last night, especially the positive reception that Shola got. We really can make a difference if we forget about whinging and just get behind the team. They gave us something to cheer as well, which was good.
  12. I'm just happy we have an old school football manager who has bags of experience and a solid temprament. Just the sort of bloke we need to see us through this mess. Not sure about making him permanent yet, but I've been really impressed with him so far.
  13. Jeez, bit of a negative view on the whole thing don't you think? Aye, we've been rubbish and need to pick up points. But performances are improving and players are returning from injury - the only way is up!
  14. i take it he doesnt rate them too much then? The only bit I disagree about is him bringing up these individual players names, especially Xisco who hasn't done much wrong at all.
  15. Not up front, the league stats are: Micky O, Played 5, scored 3, OBA, 2 & 1 & even Xisco is at 3 & 1. Duff scored last game while playing up front. I think Xisco needs more game time than anyone else up font. I cant see JFK dropping or putting Duff at left wing after scoring against Everton & creating a goal for Keane in midweek. Fair points about the strikers, I just meant that without Owen we might need a bit of a spark. You're right their stats aren't that bad. I'm definintely not one of the brigade constantly whinging at the players.
  16. It is a risk, obviuously the probability is that if he does come on he won't score or do much. But sometimes you need to have a gamble, and the lad is definitely in form.
  17. We might be in a relegation battle, but with our other options upfront a bright, confident young striker who has been scoring regularly might be just what we need to get us a goal. It's the experienced campaigners who have failed to deliver this season remember.
  18. Got to be at least on the bench for City, the lad can't stop scoring. Bearing in mind we won't be able to buy a goal if Owen and Oba are bopth out, seems like a good time to gamble on the lad.
  19. Don't know where a goal is going to come from to be honest, so I'd be very happy with a point tonight.
  20. I packed my fanasy team with Spurs players pre-season, thought they would do big things. Do like to laugh at them, but lets not forget we only have 3 points more than them.
  21. I think Diouf has a point to be honest, he was probably the leading Senegalese player of his generation, just as Eto'o was the leading Cameroonian and Drogba the leading Ivorian. He doesn't say anywhere in that article that he has as much ability as either of them.
  22. Dirk Kuyt does annoy me, it's more the fact that he's playing right wing for Liverpool that is inexplicable.
  23. I've not seen any proof of that from Ashley. We're certainly on the road to hell though, so you may be right like. Argh Think we'll have to agree to disagree on this! Please can you let one of my posts pass without a remark
  24. I hope we get either someone who wants to borrow heavily against the club to buy us, someone who wants to sell all our best players, or failing that a Thai fugitive accused of all sorts of crimes. These English owners with good intentions are shit I tell you.
  25. You're missing an important part of the reason why protests affected Ashley more than Hicks, Glazers and before them the likes of Doug Ellis. Ashley bought the club for fun, because he wanted to go to the match and mix with normal people - enjoy himself. Now he can't do that there's no point in him hanging around. The fact that he has folded so quickly suggests to me that he is anything but a ruthless businessman with regard to this. If he was he would have hung around, made the club a success and continued taking the money.
