I wouldn’t call that loyalty though. You can only replace so many people so quickly. He rates Wilson from the past obviously, but I guess he’s still here because he had a great period of form just at the time he was most likely to be sold. That led us to prioritise other positions. And he was never a starter anyway, that’s why we bought Isak.

VAR should just be constantly on IMO. If the video shows the ref had missed something then they should shout out. Either way, if there’s a blatant handball in the box then I don’t see any reason not to intervene. I don’t know what part of the guidelines justifies it but it’s mental.

He’s dropped almost all the players that everyone said he’s too loyal to. Pretty much only Jacob Murphy is even a decision.

I think it’ll be competitive but ultimately we’ll probably lose. We need to keep our heads for this next couple of weeks TBH, could be a lot of bad results coming up but it doesn’t mean the season is over.

Always was going to be a great signing, at one point I thought he’d be too good for us to get. A real coup and will sort the position for years.

Do people watch Villa in detail for full games? They’re doing well but I find the envy of them a bit over the top. We’re roughly in the same stage of our development and we started from a much worse position.

The Leazes wasn’t too bad, there was some singing. The injury really fucked us because it gave people an excuse to go out early.

There’s no doubt at all it’s a pen. Really inexplicable decision. Reminded me of the classic Steven Taylor handballs.

There’s absolutely no way he’s being told who to pick. Hall has played himself into the team because he’s been really good, at RB there’s no other option. FWIW if he prefers Burn to Hall at LB then he should be sectioned, never mind influenced from above.

He did, it wasn’t a freekick. Worst refereeing performance I’ve seen for many years. I make a conscious effort not to notice referees so it really has to be bad for me to say this. It was obviously a penalty as well. The guy is clearly looking straight at the ball and then rolls over onto it to keep it away from Gordon. Beggars belief.

This is true but creating a couple of 1 v 1 situations for your two best attackers should really result in a goal. And a penalty would have made it a nice easy time. I can’t remember Brighton’s big chances actually, maybe the one Burn blocked. Of course if you created 10 big chances none of this matters.

At half time I was genuinely thinking the performance has been really good, we’ll come back to win because Brighton look vulnerable and we’ll kick on for the season. Weird game sometimes. Let’s hope the decision makers are more level-headed. It’s mad to think we’d have been 5th if we’d won. Maintain it was a blatant penalty and possibly a red card as well.

Should’ve had at least a goal and assist in the first half mind. He started labouring like he has done ever since he came, but he was pretty close to having a massive impact.

Murphy and Burn are the noticeable players who shouldn’t be starting for me. Apart from that the lineup yesterday looked excellent. Put Botman and Barnes/new winger in and it’s the best team we’ve put out in probably 10+ years. Like I keep saying, based on the first half I thought our season was about to take off. Weird situation.

But all of those are good?

The whole first half was very good. I was ready to start posting about how well Howe was addressing all our problems of the season TBH.
