Been wondering if our CL qualifications and winning the cup was perhaps a bit more down to the quality of Isak than he’s given credit for and a bit less of the credit directed to Eddie. Do think Eddie’s is amazing at man management but without an absolute unicorn at the point of attack the team looks less than ordinary. Maybe some truth to that but also loads of other smaller factors that can tip the balance if they go for or against you

We do need a like for like replacement. What we don’t need to be spending extra on is a keeper who’s good with his feet. We can’t play out from the back anyway so just launching as far from our goal as possible is definitely the best tactic.

Tbf, if you want him for the start of the season you should give him the whole season. If things don’t look good after 4-5 games and the trigger’s pulled it’s more likely to be worse because of it than better.

I think Eddie's teams play better when they are the underdog and the focus is on outrunning other teams. We don't often see tactical innovation, clever patterns of play, etc. I think he's tremendous man manager and motivator and absolute top and creating a tight team spirit. All essential. But the tactical side is underwhelming. So far, at least.

Personally would play Bruno and Sandro together in central midfield. Can’t see why that wouldn’t allow a better platform to control the ball so much better and protect the defence adequately. Add whatever else needs to be added and whatever formation best allows our best players to play to their best. Something we’ve not been doing.

His only use to Eddie is his stamina. He’s been very good on the ball at his previous clubs and for Italy. We don’t really play with movement or creativity though so I think his ball playing abilities are wasted here. We could sell and buy a champo player who will chase the ball around like a dog in the park and use the spare for something else.

If EH is staying then I think a lot of the players we’ve been linked within would be a mistake. Players learn best by playing and EH is not fond on playing younguns when there’s a more experienced (even if less talented) alternative. There’s also good reasons for that tbf. I think we’d be better off going for players like Gardner from Everton, Thiago from Brentford. Any player who basically run his bollox off every week. Being good on the ball is overrated in a EH system imo. It’s all about legs. Have to outrun the opposition every week. If we don’t get those type of players then I think Wilson is on borrowed time.

I’m not particularly impressed with what order the goals go in, just how the tally up at FT.

I’ve got a feeling EH coaches us with a mind to play within a very rigid structure. The tactics and formations do change but I feel, once they are set the players are not encouraged to deviate in any way from it. We have some real ballers in our team but we play very little creativity. It’s all very scripted. Through the last few seasons that has served to make us very hard to play against. Our defensive structure throughout the team was excellent. On top of that we had an absolute unicorn in attack. Now we look very rigid but we’re incredibly easy to play through. Literal several bus widths of space to run or pass through centrally. So, we’re scripted but staid and lacking spark and improvisation. Not having a unicorn anymore we’re having to make do with the level of strikers most other teams have. But we can’t turn that into much that’s productive. It’s all a bit Pardew looking.

I could be very wrong about this but I’d certainly NOT entertain the idea of selling Tonali in order to buy Anderson.

Only reason I can see Man City buying Anderson is stop someone else having him. Don't think he'd make their 1st 11 but would be a useful backup. See Kalvin Phillips.

If our midfielders are all on form, Anderson doesn’t get a start here. Still.

It's the club I want to see do well. I'm not invested in any manager's career. Obvs, whoever is the current manager, I hope they're doing very well because then the club is. I'm not GhoeberXing after any coach or manager though. Last one I 'loved' was SBR. Can't get into that again.

I’m not particularly attached to EH. I think he’s done a fantastic job and a result the expectations are higher. I just want the best person available to take us forward so we’re competing up the sharp end more often. Getting a more effective manager/coach than Howe would be no mean feat. If they’re wavering re: his future I hope they have a very clear idea of what they’re doing as replacing him would have far more potential to go wrong than right.

Would look great alongside Bidon (not a player I expect us to go for, even if available).

Ian, lovey. You said the same thing about Pardew. You’re completely loyal and will defer to not criticise the manager whoever they are. When it’s someone as good as EH you’re even less likely (imo).

How you could’ve watched countless teams play through us, and not just this season either and decide that when it comes to tactics and strategy, we absolutely can’t be improved upon…I mean, you’ve made your mind up regardless of what happens on the pitch.

Think Eddie needs help with different/better coaches alongside him for tactics. Once we’ve had to move away from the ‘outrun’ model we’ve looked shakey. Man management, team spirit and motivation is Eddie’s strong suit. Must be a tactical genius out there who’s not a people person.
