I don't think they'll be that bothered. I think people who actually work in top flight football are able to seperate the wheat from the chaff, or what matters from what is just background noise. They have an ability to focus and apply themselves, which is a vital skill of getting to the top in the first place (not to mention total belief in their 'project'). Not like us as fans, constantly F5ing all day, micro-analysing things. They won't be bothered about things they can't influence.

Everton will never, ever learn when it comes to signing Man United cast offs. Although I think Ashley Young is a good signing, and I'd have kept him here personally, I honestly think that, on the links so far, I reckon they're fucked this season. It's also worth pointing out that some of our better players cost us very little. Midfield options of Douglas Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Tielemans, Kamara - £18m the lot. Where we've spent badly, it has been the likes of Bailey, which hasn't worked out, and Ings, although we recouped 15 of 25-30m on him.

Our net spend in the last 4 windows up to this one was £40m. We have never paid more than 35m (I think) for a player, and we've sold two academy graduates for £120m in the last two years, which has an immense impact on FFP.

We have already had problems - found ourselves and V Guimaraes in the same European competition, had to give up part of shareholding and have no representation on the board, and no transfers, at least whilst in the competition. Mings is a born leader, and a good bloke off the pitch. He goes somewhere like Leeds, though, and gets "Tyrone Mings is fucking shit" sung at him for 90 minutes, and I find myself wondering if what they don't like is a big, uppity black man with opinions. I think he wants options to do stuff like that. I agree - Torres, Konsa, Mings and Diego Carlos* as the four CB options is about as good as it gets. Moreno and Digne LB options fine, right back is where we need to add someone now that Ashley Young has gone. Always amazes me how opposition fans see Mings totally differently. He was absolutely immaculate post Emery's arrival, a defence that only conceded 8 goals in its last 15 matches.
