It's also worth pointing out that some of our better players cost us very little. Midfield options of Douglas Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Tielemans, Kamara - £18m the lot. Where we've spent badly, it has been the likes of Bailey, which hasn't worked out, and Ings, although we recouped 15 of 25-30m on him.

Our net spend in the last 4 windows up to this one was £40m. We have never paid more than 35m (I think) for a player, and we've sold two academy graduates for £120m in the last two years, which has an immense impact on FFP.

We have already had problems - found ourselves and V Guimaraes in the same European competition, had to give up part of shareholding and have no representation on the board, and no transfers, at least whilst in the competition. Mings is a born leader, and a good bloke off the pitch. He goes somewhere like Leeds, though, and gets "Tyrone Mings is fucking shit" sung at him for 90 minutes, and I find myself wondering if what they don't like is a big, uppity black man with opinions. Then we absolutely take them to pieces and they go nuts when he smiles at them as they sing it. :shrug
