I had whale for dinner once and also enjoy yodeling.

It was an anticlimactic debate though. I was expecting a response rather than just a white flag of defeat. Usually arguments on here go on and on until both posters cannot be bothered anymore I also did not entirely understand the picture, but I do think he was trying to be racist. I suppose I should google up a pic of an alpine-skiing Viking communist as a retort?

I don't mind being wrong, but I still don't get djmattis' jokes.

Logic works for some people. Some people just need to be laughed at in a derisory manner until they come to their fucking senses.

No pitches, infrastructure, people that care enough. Best give them the world cup though. 1.3 billion people and not a professional standard player in site. Rubbish. It'd be like asking why Americans are terrible at Cricket. They just don't play it. Not entirely correct, while cricket is obviously far ahead it's not as if football is simply not played. In certain regions Football is not far behind cricket in popularity and arguably even as popular. All schools across India actively play football. For example in West Bengal football is as popular as cricket, and when you consider that West Bengal as a region has a population of over 90 million people it's shameful that they struggle to produce a player of even professional standard. The appetite for football is actually quite high, if I remember correctly the viewing figures for the likes of the Premier League dwarf that of the UK. It's simply that the infrastructure and organisation of local football is abysmal. I also think somebody like Chopra (or Vikash Dhorasoo instead of having a handful of caps for France) would have been good for the game over there. Cricket having national icons like Tendulkar only drags further attention away from football and other sports. Having a player of professional quality might have helped to given kids somebody to identify with, but the Indian FA simply aren't going to have it apparently. Comparing cricket's popularity in the US to football's in India is not really a great comparison at all. Okay... umm... you're right and I'm wrong?

Now Shola gets to find a whole new way to frustrate us: going off to the African Nation's Cup when every other striker at the club is injured.

Shock and awe. Shock and fucking awe.

Man it's not even funny how badly Japan has been screwed over by the refs though. Not that I have any sympathy for them. Ah well, best teams in the tournament always start slow. Think of us as the Spain of Asia.

Disappointing match on so many levels. You have to expect better than this from both teams

Why are we taking off our best player for the man with one foot? To be fair, 99% of all teams on Earth would look woeful to you. I'm having fun
-
Fuck, very disappointing goal to concede there.
-
Yah, missed it while I was fixing lunch. Now that I see the repeat it was pretty awful defending by Australia, he was lone in the box. I agree, terrible defending. West Ham-esque.

Koo Ja-Chul with his third goal of the tournament.

Good to see a moment of silence for the Queensland floods. I don't mind having some nationalism mixed in for international matches at all.

South Korea v. Aussies starting up right now, very much looking forward to this. Probably the "biggest" match out of the entire group stages. Stadium is almost empty though

We played the Real Madrid supporters club about six months ago. We lost something like 17-1 f***ing hell, was Cronaldo spending his holidays in Korea? Well, multitude of factors. They're pretty close to an actual amateur football club in that they have regular practice sessions etc. We're just a bunch of lads who get together for a kickabout once a month or so. Also they draw from a pool of members that's several times larger than ours. You can imagine how there would be quite a bit more Real Madrid fans than Newcastle fans in this country. What are the biggest foreign clubs in there? The only Korean football fans I met are all Manchester United fans. Man United is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else for obvious reasons. Basically most Koreans with a passing interest in European football are Man United "fans." After that it's probably Liverpool, Arsenal, Real, Milan, Inter, and Juventus. Chelsea isn't popular at all for some reason and Barca is surprisingly underappreciated. Newcastle is probably the fourth most popular Premiership club, shockingly enough

RE: this article, turns out one of our members came across Alastair Craig on Twitter and he asked for an interview. Apparently he asked for permission to "paraphrase for editing purposes," and the following is the result "We don't have any specific plans to visit SJP but that's definitely something we'd like to do some day." -> Dozens of members of Toon Korea are planning an epic trip to the turnstiles for a home game at St James’ Park. "I think we have around 2000~3000 members" ->The fans’ group was launched by Jeongki Yoon in honour of his beloved Newcastle United and has 3,000 followers. (He never actually said he was the founder. In fact, he's not.) "We keep up with things through TV or text coverage and a member on our forum translates articles off the internet" ->If the game is not available on TV we’ll try to follow by reading live internet updates on the Chronicle’s website and on Twitter. We read the Chronicle every day on the web. Just in case you needed more evidence of the remarkable journalistic integrity of the Chronicle. We hang out at www.nufc.co.kr by the way. Everything's in Korean but it's navigate-able in English so if anyone is bothered I think people would get a kick out of it if you posted something.

The simple fact that if it's even remotely arguable that the red card was fair, the FA is not going to rescind it. That would be a total nightmare for refs. The only time the FA will ever take back a card is if everyone with eyes can see that it's totally, blatantly wrong (like Beye's tackle against Robinho a couple years back.) A case can be made that Tiote's tackle was a red card offense, therefore the appeal never had a chance.

I've never seen Bothroyd but I've been told that he's allegedly pretty quick for his size. We'll see. Also kind of funny how we're all assuming that this will go through just because we don't like the player and when we're linked with anyone excited we just assume that it will never happen.

Why would you ever take my comment seriously? Obviously underwhelmed by this signing but this is the kind of player you sign in January. It's more a "Wayne Routledge" month than a "Hatem Ben Arfa" month. Only exceptions are if you're covered in money or terminally stupid.
