  1. I said that after the Blackpool game, not signing a striker would be fatal. We would have gotten by if not for Nigel De Jong. Just like we would have scraped and clawed our way to survival in 2008/2009 if not for fucking Lee Cattermole. Bad decisions, injuries etc. It's always the perfect storm for us.
  2. Carroll imo deserves a lot of criticism. His influence on the matches since Blackpool has been absolutely nil.
  3. At this point he basically has until the Derby. While I don't know if that's the right decision, if we lose this match and that one, there is no way he won't be hounded out of the club.
  4. I just don't know how to save our team at the moment. We're utterly disjointed, Hughton is officially under pressure after this match and that is bound to have a further negative effect. Back to the good 'ol days it seems.
  5. No strikers. Turns out new Geordie hero Andy Carroll wasn't Premiership quality after all.
  6. The ref is going to screw us over at least once this game. Just to piss me off even more.
  7. The first person to say 'we should have never sold N'Zogbia' gets a kick in the nuts. Same goes to the first idiot who starts another thread about how he always knew we were going to struggle and wonders why the others didn't see it until now.
  8. Hughton posts on this board. Has to be. Who are you Chris? I know you're seeing this...

    De Jong

Well, I suppose they can't exactly come out and say "yeah we had a splendid night out with Man City's lobbyists and shared a good laugh about the idea that we could ever punish one of their players for injuring some nobody from a nothing club."
  10. As long as we're panicking, might as well make a topic in General called "when do you think you'll die and how?"
  11. That MOTD is absolutely vomit inducing. I suppose as a dirty foreigner I'm lucky enough to have the option to just walk away from this league and maybe I should seriously entertain it. The sole purpose of the Premiership is becoming to produce a more entertaining "product" for the millions of plastic fans of big clubs across the world. (Yes, I realize the irony of me making this point) The only reason the rest of us exist is to act as a supporting cast to provide token competition and occasionally come through with a charming little charge to 7th or cup run to provide some extra talking points. I've realized this for ages but have chosen to ignore it because I can't stop loving Newcastle, but the events of last night just brought it all down on me again. Slowly but surely it's becoming all about four or five lions in a colosseum. The rest of us are the Jews.

    De Jong

Alan smith finally has his chance to do something for the club.
  13. Tiote clearly had more black power than toure today
  14. Jesus Christ, I feel like I'm an arsenal fan now. Would like to punch Kidd in the face for that tripe.
  15. Two blatant penalties not given for us, two blatant non-events given against us in a grand total of eight matches. And I still haven't forgotten that we went down because of a wrongly disallowed Mark Viduka goal and a plethora of other utterly idiotic decisions that season. Either the refs are all closet Sunderland supporters or someone is not "paying up." This has gone beyond the point where we can just shrug and say "everyone gets their share of bad decisions"
  16. The 4-5-1 makes sense in some aspects. Striker is clearly the weakest area of the squad and it makes sense for us to try and play as few as possible. Hughton just didn't count on Nolan being turboshit. Fair play, now man up and fix it. We were relegated the last time I said this, but... I'm willing to give Shola a chance.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I wish. By the looks of that thread it's 12 weeks to "walk." If you're lucky. God knows how long to play professional football.
  18. Should've brought him on instead of Carroll just to go up to De Jong and launch a studs-first flying tackle at his nose.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Whenever I hear about him in the news now I'll think that in some alternate future he was player of the season 2010/2011 and has three great seasons with us, then moves to Real Madrid netting us 30 million pound which Chris Hughton uses to build a top 7 side. Of course, no doubt the media will completely sweep this under the rug and De Jong will be allowed to continue to do whatever he (and Mancini) wants: at least until he injures someone from Man U, Chelsea, or Arsenal, of course.
  20. Well just have to beat them 6-0 so not even the ref can screw us over.
  21. Good show today after 2 poor games. Obviously still inconsistent but there's a good keeper in there somewhere
  22. We will come back with a performance against wigan. Fury has reignited my faith.
  23. Jumped ahead of Williamson in the pecking order today, although we might get Campbell-Williamson for a while depending on the severity of the Colo injury.
  24. Hughton made the right man management choice imo. Carroll was looking like he was believing in his own hype and didn't look like he had that drive that he used to in the last few games. It's not just a matter of not scoring, his general play was poor and he wasn't chasing down the ball and pressuring opponents like we all know he can. If he comes back against Wigan with renewed energy it will all have worked out for the best.
