  1. Please don't jinx it. The last time I heard a statement to this effect was when somebody said during halftime at old trafford "looks like it could end a scoreless draw if we're lucky"
  2. http://pds1.egloos.com/pds/1/200605/12/91/a0010291_23282770.jpg Seoul World Cup Stadium during any international. (Preferably when Korea aren't playing like shit.) 68476 people all in Red, screaming at the top of their lungs. Absolutely unbeatable atmosphere.
  3. all right then, move along, nothing to see here.
  4. Neil Lennon! For Wycombe! Seriously. Don't even try.
  5. Wish we could just lock reality itself. It's much more painful than this thread.
  6. Perhaps Wise and co. decided to let Roz go on loan over KK's head. Perhaps this is the beginning of a massive fallout between KK andt he new management types. Perhaps the ensuing bustup will result in KK having a nervous breakdown and leaving us at the end of the season. Perhaps by that point absolutely no one will want to come anywhere near us and we'll be forced to make Wise our manager. Then again, perhaps we'll get relegated by then and this will all be a moot point. :frantic: :frantic: :frantic: [/skyisfalling] f*** me you could make a career at The Sun with writing like that! Sorry, already nailed on as Oliver's successor.

  8. Rest of the season is pretty damn near pointless anyway, might as well let him recover some confidence away from the bloodthirsty hordes (aka our fans) and give Edgar or Kadar a run in the team if it comes to that. Was never going to get anywhere near the first team, whether it be at CB, RB, or DMF, while Faye and Beye are here anyway.
  9. That's better Skirge, if Vidula's out then Smith up front as he's due a goal. I wonder what odds the bookies would give me if I bet on Smith to never score a Premiership goal for Newcastle.
  10. What exactly has he done this season that's been impressive? He looks just as out of place in the prem as the other Derby players do. He supposedly has the potential to come good in a couple of years but for now, he's just one for the future. 3m seems about the right price.
  11. For what it's worth, we've actually signed three players this window - Tozer, Baheng, and Kadar with a couple more to come in if reports are to believe. (That Czech lad may actually even be able make an instant impact) These are players that could grow into the core of our first team within 2~3 years. Assuming we don't get relegated this season. it has been a very good window. For once we're signing promising youngsters instead of going for overpriced mediocre players, which is what we usually do in January.
  12. I doubt any player coming directly from the Czech league would get more than that, never mind one who's only 20 years old and hasn't even made a dozen appearances for his club. If anything, 3.7m is extraordinarily high.
  13. Smith is worse. Ameobi -> free, local lad, good attitude, doesn't get booked as often, has actually scored in the past two years.
  14. which of the goals should Given have stopped yesterday, Adebayor's super-close range header? Flamini's goal of the season? or the one that was offside?
  15. Nigerian left backs bring back bad memories
  16. Juan Sebastian Veron 1998 - £15m 1999 - £18m 2001 - £28m 2003 - £14m Rio Ferdinand 2000 - £18m 2002 - £29m Nicolas Anelka 1999 - £23m 2000 - £20m 2002 - £12m (Keegan) 2005 - £7m 2006 - £8m 2008 - £14m OK, only 3 players, but transfer fees have been ridiculous for years. I'm sure Keegan is aware of it, worst thing now is we'll have a reputation as being money-bags and teams will look to screw an extra few million out of us. Prices for world class players have always been bonkers. It's the price of upper-middle tier talent that has been inflated so much in recent years. cf) Darren Bent - 16m, Ashley Young - 9.75m, Michael Carrick - 18m, Yakubu - 11.25m, Craig Gordon - 9m etc. etc. It's not that Keegan wouldnt' be completely unaware of this, it's just that the reality of how completely ridiculous things have become will only hit home when he has clubs asking for 10m+ for anyone with decent premiership talent.
  17. Aye, if only they had internet and TV up in Scotland, cos prices were cheap until 3 years ago. You can't deny that prices have skyrocketed in the last year or two. Reckon we would have gotten 10m+ for Jenas if we were selling him today.
  18. Think we'll probably end up getting Van Bueyten on loan and nobody else. (EDIT: Maybe that Barry Robson fella on the cheap as well) In a week or so Keegan will realize how ridiculous prices for established premiership players has become and will just end up saying "f*** it. "20m for Bentley! That's more than I payed for Shearer! "
  19. I'm not necessarily sure it's the best of ideas to give a 17 year old his first first-team start in an away game in front of 70,000 rabid opposition fans playing agianst one of the best teams in the world. 70k? 60. Was thinking about Old Trafford for a moment there.

  21. Would be near impossible Bentley. If Blackburn sold him they'd have to completely rework the way they play and I don't see any amount of money being worth it for them. Some sort of crazy insane sum (20m+) would be the only way to make them flinch. They might not even want that since money is not an object for most Premiership clubs right now. Carrick seems mildly more realistic since Man U would let him go if they could turn a profit. Don't know if the player himself would fancy coming home rather than fighting for a spot at Man U though. Similar logic applies for Wright-Phillips (minus the "turn a profit" part, of course.) A potential plus factor could be that Anelka would push him further out of the first team. (They still play a 4-3-3, right?) Berbatov seems the most likely option providing we're willing to match Tottenham's undoubtfully ridiculous asking price. I don't think either party has ever been happy in the Tottenham-Berbatov relationship and I'd think Spurs would be willing to let go for ridiculous money and he'd be willing to take a sideways step to the club he supported as a boy. In any case, none of these names are coming to us in any scenario for anything under 20 million imo.
  22. ah, the striker that can finish but can't make chances, or the striker that can make chances but can't finish. Choices, choices.

    Bolton - a warning

Just don't bite. Obviously ignored on his own board so has taken a little trip down here to get some attention. Must be wanking at all these people quoting his posts.
  24. spot on tbh, although id give enrique another point cos he looks good going forward albert syle Agree generally, except I'd give Roz 6 and Duff 3 Roz played very well, especially in the second half. I stand by my opinion that Shola was decent.
  25. By the way, Owen can apparently no longer score unless its absolutely layed onto him in a plate. Can't create chances, can't be a poacher who scores a dozen tap-ins a season. He could be the best finisher in the universe for all I care, that doesn't matter untill he can figure out something he can do on the pitch.
