  1. Nope, there's not even the remotest chance that he will be tempted. Absolutely nothing will make him consider that job. Underneath that nice guy exterior is a very smart and calculating person and he knows better than anyone that he has landed the dream job in football. To give that up for the poisoned chalice of the England job would be complete madness. And Eddie Howe is definitely not mad.
  2. There is zero chance of Howe taking the England job.
  3. I see that the latest theory from the knackers over there is that Saudi now want to "take over" the Premier League. There is absolutely zero evidence of that of course, but that's not going to stop their fantasies about the Saudis buying Man Utd and either ditching us or making us the "feeder club" of Man Utd.

Fair point, that would definitely help to keep the noise in.

Yep, agree with all that. And the more I think about it, the more obvious it is that we need a new stadium. Because even if Level 7 is extended to the Gallowgate then that is actually likely to make the atmosphere even worse. The Gallowgate's current cowshed roof is what makes most of the atmosphere at SJP and once that is gone I could see SJP becoming even less intimidating.

Same here. SJP was an absolute bearpit when the capacity was 36k and all of the stands were roughly symmetrical. The Level 7 extension drastically reduced the intensity of the atmosphere though. Which is why any new stadium needs to be able to keep the atmosphere enclosed within, just like 1990s SJP did.

I don't know why it keeps being peddled that people want to move SJP away from the city centre. Absolutely nobody has even suggested it. A move 100 yards north is not "moving away". It's simply a tiny relocation of the current stadium and location.

This idea is a load of nonsense. You can clearly see that the finished article still massively impedes Leazes Terrace. It's a non starter.

Man City have peaked in terms of their potential. They do not have the same potential for crowd sizes as NUFC because they have to share Greater Manchester with MUFC. Liverpool could fill a 70K stadium but FSG don't want to spend the money doing it. Arsenal were hemmed in by the surrounding areas of The Emirates so had to make do with 60k. That stadium is already starting to look dated IMO. 70K is the sweet spot for NUFC. Another 8k seats simply allows for those who have walked away to come back. There needs to be another 10k on top of that for the next generation of supporters otherwise we will just have a repeat of the 90s when thousands were unable to go to games.

Are you a current season ticket holder?

That's the thing though...building a new stadium wouldnt be "moving away" from SJP. It would merely be moving SJP a hundred yards or so further north. One thing that everyone can agree on though is that NUFC must always, always have their stadium in the city centre.

None of the above. It's actually D : They already underestimated the size and potential of the club at the time that statement was made, and now realise that a 70000+ seater is an absolute necessity.

I can only assume you weren't going to games in the 90s. We could have filled a 65000 stadium even back then. And, as Wallsend Mag points out, football is much bigger now than it was even back then. I have to say, it narks me when I read comments about limiting capacity. I can only assume its those who smugly sit on season tickets that come out with these kinds of comments.

It's basically the land that was part of the original Castle Leazes proposal in the late 1990s. 58,000 is nowhere near enough to fulfill the demand for a successful NUFC.

70,000 is the sweet spot for me. I think people are underestimating just how many walked away over the last 15 years. It's not just about capacity though. SJP doesn't hold a candle to modern stadiums when it comes to facilities and pitchside views. Level 7 is an awful matchday experience for most, unless you are in the lowest rows of seats. I think how the Saudis approach the stadium problem will give a good insight into how long they plan to stick around. If they just want to tart up SJP then that would suggest to me that they probably plan to flip us at some point in the next 10 years. An all-new stadium on Castle Leazes would be making a statement on a very long term plan.
  16. Was up there watching it today and enjoyed it. Not sure that having those large flags in the crowd is a good idea mind with very young kids using them. There were numerous occasions around me when people were nearly getting their eyes taken out by them. Those things are lethal in the wrong hands. The game itself was a good watch, particularly in the 1st half when we were pretty much camped in their half. From what I saw, the team holds possession really well and plays some nice stuff but lacks any kind of threat in the final 3rd. Hence the two goals coming from long range. A special word for Charlotte Potts, who was immense at the back. She looks a superb player and was Botman-like out there.
  17. I can’t see the Saudis getting involved with another big PL club. Unless they plan to simply takeover the whole league and call it the Saudi League. I actually think there is mileage in the Apple/Man U thing though. The NUFC takeover may have just heralded the new era of the PL….oil state elite clubs v giant corporation elite clubs. Man U owned by Apple, Dippers by Amazon, Arsenal by Google, then us and City powered by the oil.
  18. Exactly. The thick fuckers have just painted themselves into a corner, about 10 coats deep.
  19. So, based on their newly acquired morals, if they get promoted this season (snigger) will they insist that the club does not accept the TV money that comes from the BEin deal? Insincere, virtue signalling cunts.
  20. This is quite the eye-popping read. I thought that Everton had secured the funding to build their new stadium, now that the building work has started. Turns out that they don't seem to have it at all, and are working on the idea that if you just start the early parts of building it then that will attract investors to finish off the job. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/nov/13/everton-football-club-new-stadium-bramley-moore-dock

Nice. Whatever happens, it is fairly obvious that we won't just be sticking with SJP in it's current state. They will either find a way to expand it to 65k or they will build an all-new one somewhere within the city centre.
  22. Not so long ago over there, that CaptainRed was one of their most rational posters, but even he/she has turned into a full-on bitter cunt now. Just goes to show, this is all turning even their most level headed brethren insane.
  23. Currently 60% say yes. Socialist club though. Ahem.
  24. The self-loathing on there tonight is off the scale. Thoroughly heart warming to read.
  25. Haha, I love it. Without doubt one of our own on the wind up.
