Correct. If nothing else, Bruce's ineptitude is going to reveal how close this deal really is.

Anyone thinking the takeover will still happen if we are relegated is simply deluded. If we drop it's over. To be honest its time for both buyer and seller to put their money and plans where their mouths are. Back up the extreme confidence in the deal going through by putting in place Bruce's replacement right now, rather than waiting for any official green light.

This despicable cunt has had a free ride for the last 18 months as the club and its support have effectively been in a coma since Benitez walked. Apathy has reigned supreme but tonight it feels like something has clicked and people have been stirred back into life. Whether its just the final straw of shambolic performances being broken or the dawning realisation that the takeover will be passed but then sacked off because of relegation, one thing is for sure....if he is still here for the next game the level of scrutiny is going to be magnified tenfold.

If Ashley is happy with club outside of bottom 3 as implied by Chronicle, then I suspect takeover is not currently in immediate danger. Obviously things could deteriorate further over next couple of games, but think 8 point gap is saving grace at the minute. When the buyers start getting twitchy he will act. Banking on that gap would be the biggest mistake that Ashley could make. By the time it evaporates it will likely be too late to arrest the slump. If the buyers are as confident as we hear and the takeover looking nailed on then they should be doing everything they can to oust Bruce right this minute and get Benitez back.

Think I have lost the appetite to follow this thread now. All of a sudden we have a much bigger problem than Richard Masters, the Premier League, Qatar, the big six and the national media. I'd imagine all fans want it to go through, why wouldn't they? I don't think you can blame people for not expecting the takeover to go through based on the numerous times it's looked a done deal and not happened. See Manxst's post above. There is a difference between being cautious & cynical towards the takeover happening and downright mocking and/or having an "I'm intellectually superior" attitude towards those who are still positive about the eventual outcome.

I am absolutely certain that Ashley's legal team will win his case. My only fear is that result will be sizeable compo for him and nothing in it for us with regards to the takeover.

The irony is that the naysayers are probably the most emotionally invested in hoping the takeover goes through. The negativity is just a weird defence mechanism for if/when it goes tits up.

Because the very issue of whether or not the takeover is still ongoing is very much open to debate. This is the purpose of the thread. I distinctly remember watching SMTV at the age of 28. It's well known that the show ended up being made for young adults as well as kids as they discovered that students etc well into their 20s were watching regularly. The material that A&D were using towards the end could never be used on kids TV now.
