  1. Perhaps he is not talking about this forum.
  2. Such a surprising turn of events. If his first action is to hoist Carver onto a cross labelled Asshole of the North, then I'll reserve judgment.
  3. Not moving the World Cup to the winter... Not the lack of facilities and infrastructure... Not the slave labor work force... No, it's because they are Arab. Qatar is such a disgusting country and has been bankrolling many of the jihadists in Libya, so fuck all of them.
  4. It brings a smile to my face to think that many Qatari officials are soiling their thoubs over this.
  5. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/06/03/how-a-curmudgeonly-old-reporter-exposed-the-fifa-scandal-that-toppled-sepp-blatter/?tid=hp_mm&hpid=z3
  6. This was fantastic news to wake up to. I'd like to see Blatter in chains, but I'll take it.
  7. Honestly would he be? I suppose if he takes the job, then that's our answer.
  8. Carver gonna be like What do you bet he'll still put out the cones? Wouldn't entrust anyone else with such a vital task.
  9. To be honest, it's probably a bit unfair to McClaren that we've already labeled him as a sycophant on Pardew and Carver's level when he's already turned down the job once He didn't turn it down, he was just hedging his bets. If Derby had got promoted he'd have stayed, plus he would have been fearful of getting relegated with us if he did take the job with 3 games to go. Right, so for those reasons, he turned it down. Like I said, hedging his bets. Otherwise why is he still in the frame for the job now? If you believe the press speculation, it seems he's still going to be interviewed for the job this week, as is Vieira, although I find that one more unlikely myself. What I mean is, why do we assume that he'll do whatever Ashley says just to get/stay in the job when he's already turned down the job once when the conditions didn't suit him? I get that he's unexciting and all that (although even then, he's probably far too good for the shithole that is NUFC right now), but is there any reason to label him an Ashley sycophant other than the fact that he's English? This is the man that was pretending to have a Dutch accent and er how you say in English conform like a spineless cunt after he got off the plane. He'll be speaking mercenary borrow boy bullshit within minutes of getting the job. Still can't figure out how he could possibly have thought that was a good idea Maybe he lost a bet.
  10. Still won't be extremely surprised if this speculation haunts us all summer, and then Carver is Hughtoned into the job by default. I suspect it won't happen, but this club is so adept at doing the most odious, destructive things that I wouldn't put it past them.
  11. I love it when people cite the Onion. Several politicians and pundits have done it over here in the past.
  12. I'd rather they tried something different than the expected bottom trawling for also-ran managers.
  13. Seeing Cruyff play changed everything for me. The shit he could do at speed and still smoke like a chimney...I wonder how good he would have been in the modern era of training regimens. Even as a young kid, seeing him play on the Washington Diplomats, it was so clear that he was in the top echelon of footballers. Granted he was playing against fuckers with two club feet in the old NASL, but still. He constantly demonstrated how beautiful the game could be in his short stint in DC.
  14. 2022 is a de facto endorsement of slave labor.
  15. There are plenty of other bipedal organisms who could fill his role.
  16. I can't fucking stand the be careful what you wish for cliche. Pardew needed to be jettisoned out of the club. Too many people accept the utter shit situation they are in, because they fear it could be worse. Six game winning streaks amidst relegation form would of course make any sane individual wish for something better. Pardew was a horrible manager, and a proper knob to boot. I would never accept the "security" of having this snake oil salesman as out manager. Carver is a hopeless walking taint, but it doesn't change the last few seasons under Pardew in any way.
  17. Never a fan of him as a player, but I certainly will miss him here. Fantastic personality.
  18. Utter shit even before the horrendous injuries. Should never have played for us.
  19. you didn't rule out your cheek.
  20. If you get touchy over that, you are in for a torrid time on this board.
  21. I can imagine many supporters are rewriting the history of his tenure at Newcastle in their minds, much like the Republicans and media have rewritten the history of the build up to the Iraq war. A little touch of Carver to make this scumbag look like Brian Clough.
