  1. Agreed, that was an absolute jewel of a pass. The weighting, the height, the angle, the direction and the timing, all 100% perfect. great ball aye anyone remember stephen glass's 50 yarder to nobby solano out on the left wing in a home game (opposition and year escapes me), then nobby taking the pass & crossing with the outside of his right foot from left wing for a goal? i'm sure it happened but i drank more in those days
  2. agree 100% except i did rate him when he first pitched up, 'til it was obvious he was such a little sh!tbag that he was gonna p!ss his talent away at the expense of NUFC i'll pack his bags, ring the taxi, & get in the taxi with him just to make sure he gets south of the tyne....the little w#nker
  3. that's the paul scholes dyer was always intent on usurping from his position in the england team!! scholes has fucken retired and dyer still hasn't got in ahead of him - ha ha ha
  4. agreed, totally it doesn't matter of FFS is still in charge as long as the club is run correctly, that's all that matters....
  5. ok then firstly we've spent over a decade throwing money at the team and we're worse off now than we were when we started Surely down to the management rather than board? What would you sooner happen. Shepherd to limit the spending? i hate myself for saying this but the example we should be looking at is middlesbrough it must have become obvious to gibson that years of following the "boom and bust" strategy of club management were just not working so i'd argue (without inside knowledge) that they're aggresively persuing a strategy of using as much of the academy production line as possible while reducing what they spend in the market (i find it hard to believe that mclaren and southgate just don't bother spending it if it's there) so i suppose yes i am saying limit spending, maybe it would mean that we go back to values of actually coaching players in rudimentaries such as passing and movement, ball control, defending, tactics, fitness... when the money flows freely (and i'm not suggesting stopping spending money) there is no incentive for us to change as club, no incentive to look at why our players are always injured, why we rarely turn up in games 'til we're getting beat, why players who have performed at other clubs fall to pieces when they turn up at SJP again it comes back to aims/goals i suppose - those people who still believe we can REALISTICALLY challenge the top 4 in the near future will only see money as the way forward; those of us like me who think the best we've got to look forward to short-term is uefa cup challenges and possible cup runs see that money isn't the only option i'll put this as clearly as i can - if you give steve coppell/david moyes, for example, our squad and told them they can spend what they raise and will have 5m to spend outside of that we'd be in the uefa cup at the end of next season guaranteed our current boss will spend the 20m or whatever he gets then complain 'cause he didn't have enough to buy the next player, then the next player, then the next player....
  6. So, in six years: APP: 131, GOALS: 14, ASSISTS: 14 How many players in the Prem, earning less than Dyer, have produced better stats than that over the last six years? On his day (usually against weak oppo at SJP) Dyer is great, but far far too often he produces absolutely nothing, no matter what position he plays in. bingo get shot and replace him with barnes from derby or someone of similar potential
  7. ok then firstly we've spent over a decade throwing money at the team and we're worse off now than we were when we started secondly i have to agree with that lad NE5 in that saying stuff like "what does it matter who's in charge" as long we have money is madness - this fella that's after man city, the thai guy, you'd take him would you as long as he pitched up with 20m? unless i'm mistaken he's an extremely dodgy politician who may or may not have made his money in less than kosher ways as thai pm....but as long as he rocks up with his 20m for the summer spendfest then he'll do? come on man as a general point i honestly think too many people, both within the club and fans, spend too much time worrying about what we don't have rather than what we do....it's always about signing someone to make the team better rather than trying to make the players we've got better or promoting from within gonna sound like a hippy here but we live in a quick fix society and we're the perfect quick fix club for it really aren't we? "the last 50m we spent was a total f!ck up?" the solution? "throw another 20m and see what happens" think about it, man u, arsenal and liverpool are where they are through continuity, it's not very often you see them ripping up their teams is it? they perform minor surgery but not the constant amputations we seem to continually require....chel$ki are a different animal but as ranieri showed just being able to blow 100m on players guarantees f@ck all unless you know exactly what your intentions are and have a clear idea about how to acheive them, throwing cash scattergun style is worse than not spending it what are our intentions? our aims as a team? how are we gonna acheive them? i'm fairly sure that whatever they are they won't be achieved with the next 20m i love the club but this kind of stuuf is dragging me down as much as what i see on the pitch
  8. nice attitude, got us in the situation we're in now....agents everywhere will be on tenterhooks
  9. I reckon that's bollocks. well i don't actually i was being facetious but the point is that as a manager worth an ounce of salt i'd know how to play dyer and reduce the effect of his pace and also exploit the obvious deficiencies in his game do you think it's any coincidence that he rarely (if ever) plays well against the better teams in the league? in fact the only time i remember him doing anything recently was arsenal away this season where he was affored space and time...arsenal being the one team in the top 4 and perhaps the league that concentrate mostly on their own game 'cause they have utter confidence they can beat anyone in footballing terms be honest with yourself if you were an opposing manager would you be THAT concerned about facing dyer? he has no idea how to exploit space, he's a decent dribbler but how many times does he run out of ideas when he's running with the ball and end up doing nothing from a promising position? how many telling crosses does he make? how many telling through balls? dangerous shots? how many one on ones does he finish vs the amount of them he has? (yesterday being an excellent example) basically with dyer all you need to say to any defender is don't go to ground - send him inside or outside but stay with him and the likelihood is he'll produce nothing or very little....
  10. I think PSV away was a fairly big game and correct me if I'm wrong he was our best player on the night and his shot led to the bellamy goal! Just off the top of my head like..but knock yourself out mate you rant away!!! i stand corrected then - he didn't actually score a goal in a first round champions league group match, what a return in seven years or whatever it is nobody boils my potatoes like this tw@t 'cause he looked to have it all when we signed him but years & years and countless millions of pounds later the only way he's progressed as a footballer and a man is that he knows the physio room inside out and tries to crash his cars less teams must just love it when they see his name on the sheet before a match 'cause he's one less player they have to bother about, unless he has "one of his games", but seeing as they happen about once a season statistically i'd be confident as an opposition gaffer
  11. disgrace of a man and a human being an absolute w@nker of the highest order as a footballer - can't keep his mouth shut about what he's gonna do and then NEVER delivers (2-6 vs manu for example) when has he ever shown up in a big game? i mean one of the finals/semis/quarters that we've been shat out of in recent years can't shoot, pass, cross, tackle, stay fit & is the 'footballing intelligence' equivalent of horse sh!t i'd let him go for free without a shadow of doubt, the wages could be better used for real, professional footballers
  12. agreed about zog, could and should have been great - would've loved to have seen uncle bobby have some time with him, he'd have put an arm around the lad and told him where his bread was buttered, not treated him the way roedebot has... as for milner i think he's got every reason to want to leave personally (although being the kind of lad he is he'd never agitate for a move); firstly the treatment he had during the summer, then after being first class all season he was inexplicably dropped out of sight when we needed him the most and ultimately the team failed without him all sends the message that he's not wanted nor regarded highly enough within the management of the club... contrast his treatment with that of say, kieron dyer (disgrace of a human being), titus bramble until recently, damien duff, steven carr and babayaro if i was james milner and other clubs were bidding for me why would i WANT to stay? none of that takes into account how skint we are and how dispensible milner appears to be in the eyes of the people in charge of the club!!
  13. seems to me he's been pretty much honest about his intentions to leave at the end of his contract never heard any complaints from either fans or manager regarding his attitude or performances (wish we could say the same) so calling him a mercenary is out of order in my opinion regardless of who he ends up joining zenden, ziege, ferdinand etc... these people are mercenaries
  14. I think Milner will be here regardless. Agree Zoggy is starting to look doubtful just don't see it - we've proven repeatedly as a club that we have no compunction whatsoever in sh!tting all over james milner if it "benefits" us - and given how little money we have, plus the fact villa will be tripping over themselves to spend yankee dollars on him, i can see us shipping him to sign one of glenns players
  15. My comment is what I think. The problem with Newcastle is how I see it. From a tactical point, I agree with your comment that playing one striker is not very good, but I also think it impacts on the defensive side of the team, the overall shape of the team, as well as the attacking threat [obviously] I can't believe anyone thinks Ameobi will make a signicant difference to the team - a small one perhaps - and I don't think that the question of Owen and Martins even applies, as I can't see any way in the world they will form an effective front 2 partnership. Sorry like. not that i necessarily agree with mr NE5 and his tactical outlook here one important factor keeps getting overlooked with regards to next season - martins will almost certainly be off to the african nations cup which means we'll lose him for what? 4-6 weeks total? going into the season without signing another striker this summer would be as suicidal as it has been to have started THIS season with such a paper thin squad and without a fullback worthy of the shirt i'd like to see bookies odds on michael owen and shola ameobi staying fit during the period martins is gone....
  16. bottom line is that neither squad stands out as much better than the other facts are that neither manager has been able to, or had the balls to, rip our fitness/medical & training schedules to pieces and start again by employing professional people who can make a difference to our obvious problems neither manager has either the tactical or, more importantly the motivational capacity to get the best out of the players - both squads, regardless of the injuries suffered, have/had the quality to do better than they did or are currently doing
  17. Does anyone have any confidence that James Milner & Charles N'Zogbia will be here at the end of the summer? I for one don't and I'm just wondering where this leaves us as a club. (Does anyone know if Milner ever signed the extension 'cause I remember lots of talk about it being offered and very little about it being signed) Think about it; the one position that's been hardest to fill in English football for years now is left-wing and we have a young kid that is good enough to do it for us plus James Milner who can play on both wings, another attribute rarely found within the game these days. If we let them both go then what next? Souness used as an excuse that he was forced to play the James Milner's or whatever it was & systematically went about getting shot of younger players like ambrose and replacing them with so-called "established/proper" players. Look where that got us. Aside from Martins I'm afraid it looks like Glenn Roeder might be headed down the same road. He's under pressure and people under pressure are always less like to take chances and more likely to take the 'safe' option - in this instance that would be buying ready-made players. What worries me is that our managers/club no longer seem to be willing to make the effort with some players to try and turn them around. Why, on earth, they persist in doing this with Kieron 'never-has-been-never-will-be' Dyer is totally beyond me. Charles N'Zogbia might be a little ball of arrogance but since when has that meant we just give up on players and ship them out? Craig Bellamy and Laurent Robert did ok didn't they? Luque is another example in that despite what anyone thinks of him as a player he should not have simply been disgarded and left to rot. The only bright spot of the season for me has been Martins, Milner and the other bairns from the Academy and I'm just becoming increasingly worried that the club is too focused on their short-term (and in my view unrealistic) goal of breaking the top 6 and have no clue as to the long-term damage they're doing. We'll be back to a situation where young players won't even sign on for us 'cause they know they'll never get a chance like when Keegan scrapped the reserves. Hopefully all the stuff about N'Zogbia is unfounded but it's usually true that there's no smoke without fire.
  18. Sibierski being your prototypical French-sounding name, of course prototypical - great word my friend, i think i'll try to use that more in conversation (i work on an oil rig mind so they might hang me for being a smartarse, but i'll take my chances)
  19. oh and i'm edgars brother, by the way
  20. http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/chroniclesport/tm_headline=edgar%2D-why-i%2Dm-ready-to-leave-toon%26method=full%26objectid=18904545%26siteid=50081-name_page.html my problem with the thing, to address a, b, c, d together has been outlined elsewhere - it's with the people who just said "what's the problem with sending him out loan" who i can only assume believe we're about to go out and sign a 50m new defence as for your © & (d) i've also said that i believe performances should be rewarded, and i don't think they have been with edgar....thus keeping ANY of the players i mentioned ahead of edgar is my biggest problem with the whole thing (as would be signing other "senior" substandard sh!te to play ahead of the lad 'cause they're older than 20) - as long as there are monkeys the calibre of moore and bramble treading water then he'll never get the game he needs so i've changed my mind, send him out on loan then, in fact why not sell him?
  21. we're talking different languages here pal, obviously, but i'm gonna try again though for the last time i hope bramble and moore look like leaving this summer (problies gooch too), and lets imagine ramage does the same or he sticks around, doesn't matter add it up - that leaves taylor, hunt, edgar, ramage...not enough to start a season with so, again let's imagine we sign 1/2 good new CB's - that gives us the above PLUS 2 x new CB, six in total right? it's my opinion that the lad who needs to go on loan is huntington as i feel he'll need the confidence boost after his exploits at LB and edgar has looked more comfortable than him anyway in the little we've seen for us to start with 4 is gonna be a stretch for a whole season isn't it given our woeful record of injuries? so if hunt went out on loan we'd have 5 CB's including edgar and ramage now over the course of a season, without sh!te like bramble/moore in front of him regardless of how the lad plays he'll get enough games at CB or covering the FB positions to keep him going...there's no way he'd be in the reserves all season unless we play YOUNGER kids ahead of him!!! again all of this becomes moot if we sign six new defenders then send him on loan, fine, but we won't and you know it so again to simplify REMOVE OBSTACLES TO THE FIRST TEAM LIKE BRAMBLE AND MOORE WHO START REGARDLESS OF FORM OR ABILITY THEN USE EDGAR AS PART OF A ROTATIONAL DEFENSIVE SYSTEM (inc CB/FB) OVER THE COURSE OF A SEASON can you offer any sensible alternatives to this set of events? who would make up your pool of defenders? i just don't understand
  22. so if we build a solid new back four (which is a stretch to believe it will actually happen) then who would be your backups? four defenders is not enough for a season so who do we keep? who rotates with them? the tripe we've had on the books for years or are we gonna magic up some more defenders to be backup while edgar is out on loan? once again this whole this is based on the premise that we all accept the usual suspects aren't good enough and should be shipped
  23. what are you talking about? i've been fairly clear with what i've said, i'm not really sure firstly how you can't grasp it, nor secondly why we've descended to this point recap: bramble/moore/baba/ramage/carr have proven themselves not good enough and pretty much everyone wants to see the back of them, thus i would keep edgar ahead of any of these clowns and he would get enough games to progress his career due to inevitable injuries/suspensions over the course of a season 4 CB's is enough for any club so edgar, taylor, plus 2 good new guys (in glenns ideal world) to rotate over the course of a season is what i'm saying - NOT KEEP EDGAR IN THE CURRENT PERIPHERAL/NON-ROLE HE'S IN NOW the alternative is to keep one of the previously named clowns and loan edgar - there is no sense in that when everyone accepts they're not good enough, never have been and never will be this helping you any? or do i need to write big letters in crayon for you?
