  1. everyone mugs you in the transfer market
  2. it was very interesting - had it been posted in the immediate aftermath of the fa cup win on this board where we'd been slating wenger for months calling for his sacking then it would have made perfect sense
  3. Actually let's put it this way: with the ball you can control a game, if you're not in control of the ball then you're containing the other team. That's what we did against Swansea, we contained them to the point both teams knew there was only one outcome.
  4. They're two different things though; 'controlling a game' to me requires control through the midfield, whereas being solid defensively to the point where the other team know they can't break you down just isn't the same thing.
  5. Think you're wrong there like. We were solid in that Swansea game and they never looked like scoring but I can't for the life of me see how you'd say we controlled it. I'm with Ronaldo, we were f***ing awful for the most part and even when we won were invariably the poorer team. It's how we knew at the time the wheels were destined to come off. I agree with him on the Swansea game tbf. We just let them pass themselves to death between their box and about 30 yards from our goal. They dominated possession stats but I hardly remember us being under threat or danger the whole match. I agreed too, I just don't think you can say we controlled it.

  7. That didn't really give me hope tbh, we have hardly been linked with any players this summer which gives hope. We are not even trying anymore it's quite disgusting really. Think someone said it in here before but I'm starting to hope these cunts really push it as far as they want now. Sell whoever they like and don't sign anyone, with the start we've got there will be fucking hell on from the off imo. This had surely gone too far now for even the pathetic fools simply trying to get away from their wives or whatever?
  8. I think it's coaching. Same, direct one to one coaching since we signed him plus that fact everyone else around him has been crippled by the same coaching. I'm hoping he stays, think he'll do well under the new team.
  9. correct me if i'm wrong but until he came back from greece he was generally considered slow and not up to the pace of the league aye? He didn't look slow to me, during his promising spell, certainly not in a Viana way. Adjusting to the end-to-end nature of the league, sure. Match fitness, or a lack of, would play a part in having a rough time intially when being expected to be jump out of the blocks undet Pardew regime. Lack of fitness, not necessarily athleticism, may have been to blame. Was this the view held by Pardoo, that he was too slow prior to his loan stint in Greece? His judgement, when applying to gauging attributes (ie Williamson's aerial power) has as much worth as a bag of dog s*** left out on a vacationing & enemy neigbour's front doorstep. I meant prior to Greece aye
  10. It's amazing how much this gets said. It just isn't true. We didn't control games that season at all. We just scored goals at the right time. sat deep and kept it tight at the back. ron is a relentless bellend but he's generally right, none more so than with this Fuck, Mojo. I thought we were alright. Still that NHS thing? not at all man, you're sound and i like you but you have a habit of rubbing 'certain people' up the wrong way....some things i disagree with you know?

  12. as has been stated why would they? he's probably a 20 goal striker down there, keep him and lose for nothing is worth more to them than selling for fuck all Don't they need money badly though? don't think so, unless fernandez has fucked off? they're due a huge fine due to FFP rules afaik but selling austin won't help with that....getting back up has to be their priority surely

  15. i think i'd go with what someone else said tbh, being the club we are...if you were moving into the 15-20m bracket then bail on austin and blow it on the next big european prospect you can get for the same price range
  16. used to be the one thing i tried to do living away for so long, it's now literally the last thing i'd bother with
  17. just offer the manager of any bar 150 quid to save you a seat in front of the telly for every toon game you're welcome
  18. Whatever way you cut it 15-20m for Austin is a gamble purely because he's only ever had one season of top flight football. It's likely he'll not be shite but it's also just as likely he'll not get 20+ PL goals in a season the rest of his career
  19. Nothing in that article comes as a surprise. It's good to see that we look as if we're doing things right on the training pitch. How many times have we asked about what we've been doing in training? It was glaringly obvious to the average fan pardew and co didn't do a fucking thing on the training pitch. Once again it appears to be half an effort with Ashley as we've finally invested in a coaching team but look intent in hamstringing them by not signing any fucking players. Imagine what a credible coaching team could have got from HBA, Cisse, Marv, MyM, Santon and whoever else
  20. Really promising stuff from McClaren to be fair. It's another example of how low our standards/expectations are that McLaren doing the most basic of professional stuff is seen as promising. Pardew is a legend, how the fuck did he get away with it?
  21. He'll be 4th choice imo. No one will buy him. I was hoping a championship club might come in for him. We need two first team CB's imo, Colo is clearly done, and Taylor won't play a full season. You'd imagine Dummett will be 1st choice LB, and Lascelles prob won't start straight away. Just Willo being here worries me that he will get a place in the team at some point. Actually forgot Dummet there so yeah Colo, Dummet, Taylor, Lascelles then Willo. You're right like, he needs to be fucking gone but Taylor and Colo aren't leaving so I doubt we'll sign a new CB myself.
