Not talking about him in particular. I just feel whenever we are linked with a tall/target man the general feeling on the forum is one of disappointment. That it would make us a worse side to watch or something. 90% of good teams need someone that can hold it up. None of our strikers can do that. Shola could do that about 1 every 12 games but now we don't even have that. We have 1 poacher. A #10 playing as a striker. And a turd. If we keep Cisse we shouldn't get another poacher. I'm more confident that with McLaren a big man up front wouldn't necessarily be a Pardew-esque nightmare but as a tactical plan it's really as English and old school as it gets.

target men generally do better at bringing in the rest of the team and create chances. The amount of goals Pelle & Giroud are involved in making is very impressive. Think about the teams both of those examples play in man Guarantee if you put either in our teams of the last 4 years they'd be considered average at best, McLaren is going to have some job turning that shit around.

Signing a tall striker while we still have no one who can cross and a team that have been coached not to make chances for themselves for 4 years? Sign me up.

Needs #wherespardew thing to get going on twitter imo Would love his life to become remembered for being an internet joke and nothing else
-
If he goes to the 'right' club he'll be much better imo. Most talented English player I've seen in a long while, looks like he can impact games meaningfully at International and European level to me. I'd like to see him go abroad personally, Bayern or something.

I think we'll loan a few in myself while splashing on one or two like Austin to get people back onside. Then 2-3 cheap gambles from Holland or Spain or whatever plus 2-3 loans and they'll call it job done.

this didn't barca pay something in the region of 40m for neymar at a comparable age btw? Closer to double that after all the hidden shite / fees to all and sundry came out. oh aye that's right, that was mental man, remember reading that

forgetting the contract bollocks i'd say 40m would be about right for him, he's got the talent and potential to be an absolute world beater like, but needs to be in a title-winning/challenging team ASAP

interesting the word "deserve" being thrown around a lot in here...who does deserve a shot at the job out of interest?

Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?

imagine trying it with ashley "ere del, get this little facka cleaning the chimneys" -
i was thinking about this yesterday, hopefully mclaren 1-0's his way to the league cup so mike fucks the fuck off asap

all official like? that's class...seems like a good move for sponsors really if you think about it

Jesus. They never ever learn do they? What is this obsession with long contracts? aren't they saying 3 years can be extended to 8? which is basically what pardew and his gaggle of cunts should have had The concept of contractual reward for cup success is completely bizarre to me. League is everything as far as the manager goes, for clubs that aren't desperate to win the Champions League anyway. If Liverpool had kept Dalglish after 2011-12, where they won one domestic trophy and came runner-up in the other, everyone would still be laughing now. does it say somewhere it's all linked to cups like? not seen that, just literally 3 years extendable In the post I quoted, you melon. ahem...well yeah in that case it's bollocks, almost like the people in charge are clueless

whole guardian article about it aye, fucking lunatics

welcome to mike's world, where we judge every signing by what we might rake back in for them looks like other clubs don't think that way i suppose

Offset that against the lack of transfer fees and it's peanuts Doesnt work like that though, at least with sensible wages you arent risking being fucked over if he is shit/injury prone/the arsehole Gignac claims. Giving him £20m+ over 4 years is madness regardless of the fee of course it works like that - they could sign someone else for 10m and pay half the wages, if he snaps his leg the money has still gone as long as they're sticking within their budget what does it matter where they allocate the money, fees or wages?
-
i agree with this completely

One of my favorite ever players can i vote?
-
interesting thing for me is that i've been convinced that our players have barely had a shred of decent coaching since the day pardew turned up and i've been equally convinced this has held a lot of our players back at various stages, with some obvious notable examples mclaren himself is obviously not inspiring in himself but if he installs a decent setup behind the scenes then i'd like to see how it goes on the pitch

New Board of Directors - Charnley, McClaren, Carr & Moncur
mrmojorisin75 replied to Nobody's topic in Football
sounds to me like they know charnley knows fucking nothing but is cheap and fills a seat so rather than employ anyone professional to do the same job they've dragged people into it to contribute and basically make the decisions for charnley to go begging to ashley for the money when it needs spending -
Did he whip the brolly out in that ice bucket video someone posted on here? If so I instantly like him a lot more than I did as a person.

I'll never understand this sort of outlook, unless you mean getting rid of them over time. I mean the team is already thin, as much as the players you've listed are indeed pants we still need a 'squad' of players and I can't imagine we're likely to see any massive influx anytime soon. That aside though, I hope you're right that Shuper-Mac does make better choices with the teams he picks from what we have available - it's not like he'll have much say in who we'll buy, that's for sure. They need to go, when that happens I don't care but they all need weeding out.
