"Great player, leader, captain, person, trainer and mostly a friend for life. Devastated to see him SOLD! #mejoseandjonasnext" ta and fucking hell
-
what's he said on twitter? i'm on a shit internet connection and it takes age to do anything, someone please summarise
-
fucking thread title man
-
you don't know this is going to happen, especially if we bring in 5-6 new players
-
At a guess based on the previous bid, around £3m. ooof, everyone (on here) went apeshit at that amount last i heard were't we just linked with another CM? oh yeah craig gardner...maybe a 1/1 with small outlay?
-
what's the purported fee?
-
not even sure that's something you should be looking to in modern football anyway myself*, if you get one that does it great but the days of trying to build something around one guy scoring 20+ have surely passed by? EDIT: unless you have the money to try
-
that's a more forhtright way of saying what i was alluding to really - dunno, maybe for a club like us with an owner like ours that's just something we're not gonna have 'cause if we happen to get one he'll be sold at this stage i'd settle for another AM/W like zog/hba and hope we can get them all to gel together rather than having to rely on one player guess that's the plan anyway
-
well no point in starting low i guess...i mean clearly they'll improve the squad, can't argue with that guess underwhelmed is just the word for me, nowt wrong with that if the players click though, that's all that's important think "a zog" is really needed or a lot is going to depend on HBA myself, could be a big ask after injury
-
so 6 in total, 2 more on top of what i quoted?
-
hm Tron i guess that's a factor, doesn't show a lot of planning for me since january though - we went for two of the most in demand players in france and then when rejected move onto ba and erdinc...can't for the life of me believe that's all the scouting team could rustle up in 6 month like i just can't - there are people on here who'd name you players from all over europe who'd be possibilities for signing for us by stepping up a league, they'd just be expensive as fuck on the other hand, i have to say, nobody else below the top 4/5 look like they'll be splashing the cash either it's just that none of them had a 35m windfall in january
-
seriously? you don't think the two were linked...i can't get my head around that at all, then why reinvest it in new players then? mike should keep it...oh wait he is
-
have we even been linked to zog or is this all based on the deadline day bid?
-
the question i ask myself is were the signings worth selling carroll for, 'cause that's allegedly what we did it for right? sell carroll to make the squad better and push on i guess they do, and adding zog (is there even any real interest) might make that lot look a lot better might depend how fucked ba's knee is
-
anybody else think this summer will end up being done on the relative cheap now? cabaye - cheap taylor - cheap erdinc - (perhaps) - unlikey to be 10m+ ba - free (fee at least perhaps) granted the money may be spent elsewhere but personally if we sign those 4 players i'd be surprised if we got one more myself of course it's early and expensive doesn't = good but i'm pretty underwhelmed by our second tiers targets
-
probably time to go back into blackout then, see what comes up on the other side
-
there isn't really an appropriate thread for this but i've been on total blackout for a few days and don't have time to catch up via all the threads, can anyone summarise for me 'cause it looks like gameiro and gervihno have gone for a burton but we got cabaye (which we knew) anything else realistic in the pipeline?
-
if all this is true about who bruce is going for it all reminds me of when peeyter reid finally got some money his hands after getting a team of grafters doing well, he then went and spunked it all on players on the way down like tore andre flo and they ended up relegated agent bruce ftw

This is what I don't understand. If England were dominating football at international level I could see why all these players cost so much, but they're average. Million miles off the likes of Spain and Brazil. If anything it's a negative thing on the English game. These ridiculous prices are putting far too much pressure on young, inexperienced lads from day 1, and if they don't do the business from the off their confidence is shot and the press turn on them. More English players should play abroad, it would do them the world of good. Would you move your family abroad to work for less money? They stay because the English clubs pay the big money. what about when spain and italy paid more in the '80's and early 90's - barely any british players went abroad in the grand scheme and when they did they were hardly successful
-
can.you.fucking.imagine?
-
fee was minimal between chelsea and citeh right? he was out of contract or whatever so presumably that's why they paid that much or that it was just chelsea, and they don't have to care
-
A huge chunk of that figure is from the early repayment of the stadium expansion loan which was required when the club changed ownership. understood, but if someone else had of taken the club using loaned money, as was the style at the time, they'd have been saddled with it all and the interest still, on the other hand they might not have presided so well over our relegation i suppose
-
gonna be an agonising time for you then kidda 'cause it ain't happening quick is it? 5 years he reckons, I'd be happy with that. 5 years to claw back 115m...20+ a year, wonder which part of the club he's gonna get that from, graeme carr might have his work cut out but on the plus side for him he's likely got 5 years work ahead of him
