The pitch performances can easily deteriorate when the players realise the squad is diminishing rapidly in quality (and quantity) and there is no prospect of constructive direction from above. Over the years the club has developed the most amazing ability to shoot itself in the foot when it sniffs anything like a hint of a positive situation. And Ashley is more than capable of carrying that legacy on and screwing up a decent chance to bounce back to the Premiership.

Proves nothing I'm afraid. His fiance lives up here and he's been planning on buying a house near Newcastle for a while. He as one http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,62264.240.html that was my point. I was basically rubbishing the post I would be surprised if Sol Campbell has bought Hallington Hall. It's a hotel. Maybe its where he is having his marriage or engagement party. Its not a hotel anymore, even their hotel website has gone. As Shepherd and Moat are quite literally next door neighbours, and given Shepherd has at least £40m at his disposal, it's hard to see how he wouldn't be involved in some way. Agree - although he's never put his hand in his pocket on club business before. Quite the opposite in fact.... Plus I'm not sure he personally has that sort of wealth, the money for the Shepherd shares went to a company called Shepherd Offshore which he owns 50:50 with his brother Bruce.

you mean either one of his simple passes to the wing that Guthrie does all the time too? He can do the simple stuff but he is also one of the very few players we have who has the vision to pick a pass that splits the opposition defence. Because he's been out of action so much we've not often seen him at his best. He was getting there under Keegan although playing out of position. You are obviously not convinced that Barton is the club's best player. So who is your nomination? I'd say Enrique has proven himself to be a better player even taking into account Barton's form at Man City. Still young and improving, has pace and it was good to see him stick in a killer cross on Saturday. But too often he pumps long balls to no one and at Premiership level he frequently looked out of his depth imo.

Should have just read sky but I'm s*** at typing. Ashley is the guarantor if what i'm told is true. It would show how much Ashley wants out if he is prepared to do this. Very concerned at what the conspiracy theorists will do if this turns out to be true.

Am going off the standard of football i've seen him produce over his career. Enrique and Taylor still have some way to go on that front. If Barton stays, he will be instrumental. Does this mean he won't open his f***ing mouth? He should be captain, might sort him out to be given a position reflective of his skills as a person. He's a talker and aggressive with it, like Bill Bremner was. *slightly controversial* Trouble is he is such a cock. Widely rumoured to be very unpopular with the rest of the squad and seems completely up his own arse. The stories of rows with other players and various coaches are too numerous to have no foundation. Also I'm told he kept Hughton and the match squad waiting in the plane for almost an hour at Birmingham airport after the WBA game. If Hughton was a stronger character he'd have given instructions to take off without him. If Shearer gets the manager's job there's an interesting situation brewing.

Trouble is none of us really knows what sort of deal is being discussed and what structure Moat is attempting to put together for the finance. But I read it the same way as you. In theory any ovedraft facility is repayable on demand and a change of ownership would certainly trigger an investigation by Barclays as to whether they wanted to continue to offer the facility or not, and what security they have for it. Although there is no reason why Seymour Pearce's proof of funds test couldn't be satisfied, at least in part, by a bank saying they were prepared to loan the buyer £x million I'd be surprised (and a bit worried) if that is what is going on here. But as I said, I'm in the dark on this like everyone else.

Sebastien Bassong signs for Tottenham Hotspur, fee undisclosed
quayside replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
Ditto. I was really disappointed that we only got a season from Bassong, ans Spurs got a bargain. No point in looking over our shoulder though he's gone and reminding ourselves about it is just depressing. Let's move on and have a great season ourselves. to be fair, 8m rising to 12m is hardly a bargain. Your point is it's good money or not enough? Regardless of that - where is that money going? -

Good player but he's gone - forget it. We are in the Championship and we've got all manner of shyte to come if we get stressed about what our ex players are up to. Stephen Carr, about 33 years old played at Old Trafford today ffs. -
True. They'll get shyte decisions against them this season, we got well done v Fulham in May - it happens.
-
they saw it. just thought it would be a giggle to piss warnock off. Well you would wouldn't you

The first goal, Colo and Jonas went straight up to Enrique to celebrate his superb assist Thanks
-
Watched it on tv - loved it. Ameobi scores the first hat trick for the club since, I think, Owen away at West Ham in December 2005 Don't know if its been on here already but can someone who was at the match tell me if the Spanish speakers in our squad were pleased with the goals today? The photos on page 24 of this thread are what we saw on tv and it was Nolan. Smith, Taylor, Carroll etc giving it large. Did Jonas and Collicini celebrate?

Doesn't matter what we (Ashley) get for him we will not find a player more committed to our cause than Steven Taylor. And as it stands right now I don't think there's a better central defender in the Championship.
-
True - but doesn't want to be here. has a highish wage and a value in the market = gone.
-
Not really - we have been losing £20 to £30 million a year and, in the best case, your maths just gets us back to that position, it doesn't show a way of getting back to break even. In truth there probably is no easy way back to break even - as the buyers doing their due diligence will have realised.
-
If David Craig is right about the club coming off the market and anyone thinks Ashley hasn't really been trying to sell the club then it will have been an extremely expensive charade. Seymour Pearce do not work for nothing and Keith Harris will present Ashley with a tasty bill for work done during the last 3 months. If the club is off the market then it has obviously dawned on Ashley at last that no one is prepared to pay anything like £100 million for the club as well as repaying his loan of £110 million - well what a surprise. The thick tosser should have been reading this forum, plenty of posters would have marked his card on that one months ago.
-
O' Leary probably made unreasonable demands like wanting to be paid a salary and having a first team squad of more than 9 players.
-
He's definitely "me me me,right enough of that let's talk about me again." isn't he.FWIW,I'd prefer him to Kinnear, that's about it. Hmmmm- refers to himself in the third person and only shithouses do that imo.

10 Months after the FYE Yes that's the latest. It could be sooner if they want them out for PR reasons - last year's were filed about 7 months after the year end I think.

What internal management charges? The £99m came from: Match day revenue - £32m Media revenue - £41m Commercial revenue - £26m = £99M This is what happens when you ask a bod to do some digging for you and they look at the wrong accounts - you are correct, apologies - I was given an anlaysis of one of the intercompany accounts! No problem mate. Like quayside says you've probably got a point about the sponsorship and some of it already being spent by Shepherd (on Owen). Though it'll be very hard for us to know how much of it Northern Rock paid up front and how much they're giving us per year. quayside, do you know how much our sponsorship deal is worth per year? No - but the annual slice of it would be included in the figure of £26 million for commercial revenue. With Northern Rock my understanding is that they gave us a 4 or 5 year sponsorship deal back in 2005 and paid the whole lot up front, and it was used to fund our transfer activities that summer. Really?, all of it? I knew some of it had come in up front but I didn't think he'd spent all of it, that's completely mental I think that's what happened, it may have been £15 or £20 million. I haven't got the 2006 accounts.
-
Point taken But whats happened with the club in the past and what is going on now is to do with money and nothing else unfortunately.

Just read your post above and yes there is a difference between how it is recorded in the accounts and how the cash is received. If it was say £20 million for a 4 year deal the accounts will record income of £5 million per year, regardless of when the cash is received.
