Fulham - Newcastle United - 5/8/16 @ 7.45 - Live on Sky
kingston_toon replied to Nobody's topic in Football
Ah, it seems I mis-read. The tickets page was talking about blocks P1 and P2 being called "Cottage Corner" and then went on to say away fans could only buy tickets in the away or neutral sections. I understood that as the two being separate. Long day...! -

Sections P1 and P2? Fulham's website says those are home fans only, but I'd guess mostly full of Toon right? -

Argh... has the neutral section sold out already?! -
I hated football, and all sport as a kid. Went to Loughborough Uni in 96, then got booted out. Went to Newcastle Uni. And after a year or two of living in the Toon, I realised I had been sucked into the world of Newcastle United, as I sat in a restaurant craning my neck out the window to watch the match on the big screen in the pub across the road. This was Gullit era, but immediately before Robson became manager. Now, well, there's no looking back.
-
We'll all be in the Cock and Lion, near Bond Street Tube, as usual. If I can get my arse out of bed in time, of course.
-
The Cock and Lion has been building up for a few years now, and there's always a decent turn out on match days (packed for the big games). It can be a bit quieter for midweek games but there'll still be plenty there to cheer on the lads. The biggie for me is: will they show Newcastle even if Arsenal / Spurs etc are on at the same time? The answer is yes.
-
Six of us going... conveniently I was down in Devon for New Year anyway, so the draw worked well for me!
-
TBH I find the atmosphere in the Cock and Lion spot on, and while the landlady can have her moments, she and her husband have both been brilliant and have looked after us well since we moved away from the Barley Mow. Agree it can get quite packed out for some of the bigger games, though, so it'll be good at have this other place as an overflow!
-
Woohoo... so need to find a pub in Tel Aviv (West Brom) and Munich (Leicester) to watch these in
-
Come and visit us in the new place!
-
The Geordie owners of the Barley Mow left around 3 years ago and the new owners removed Sky Sports (although I think they got it back eventually) All the old Barley Mow regulars are now at the Cock and Lion.
-
Cock and Lion, Wigmore Street, is 100% Mag-specific. If the game is on legal telly, we'll be on there.
-
The Cock and Lion is excellent, and always full of Toon when we're on legal telly - the owners are great and will always show us, regardless of who else is on. There's also a Facebook group - search for "Newcastle Supporters in London" - and a proper London Supporters Club, who take part in the pool and darts league, amongst other things. There are loads of us down here!
-
The noise from that section was good... but the rest of the ground was like tumbleweed. I did like the "there's only one Shay Given" chant they did to which we all joined in!
-
Went to Uni in Newcastle in 98 without any sort of interest in football, and by the time I left the area in 2002, somehow, without noticing it, I'd become hooked on NUFC. I live in London now but there are 100s of us (both Geordies and non-Geordies) down here and there's always a big crowd watching games, or taking part in Supporters Club events.

Cock and Lion, Wigmore Street (near Bond Street Tube) - the place was packed out for the Boro game last week. See the Facebook Group "Newcastle Supporters in London" for more info. Ta Steve

The FA Youth Cup 2008/09 - Knocked out, 4-2 to Manchester City (a)
kingston_toon replied to Greg's topic in Football
I enjoyed that way more than any recent first team game (since Spurs). Did anyone else go drinking in the Walkabout in Shepherds Bush afterwards? Agree with another poster that there were as many Toon as QPR there. It was also very easy to smuggle beer back to your seat! -

Is it even a legit survey or has it been created by a mackem? The consecutive "Are Sunderland now a better managed club than Newcastle?" and "Are Newcastle a laughing stock?" questions seemed a bit fishy... Edit: Well it is actually linked from the Journal website, but seems a bit amateurish... -

The next "Supporter Panel" meeting with the club is on Monday. I wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall at that one... -
Great minds... that was my first thought!

Interesting... I *SWEAR* that one of the articles on one of the new players originally said "I haven't even had time to meet the manager yet" or suchlike. But as Matta says... no KK reference until further down in the list of news stories...
