I can't help but think this is all Asamoah Gyan's fault.

Aye, there was one moment when he missed a chance on the counter then was back to block a shot from France about 20 seconds later. Yeah, shot was crap but he'd just ran the entire length of the pitch twice then as you say back again to block the France shot. He's also pretty tidy on the ball, was impressed.
