  1. Not yet entirely convinced, but he comes across well in interviews and we appear to be playing alright - however, whether that was more down to Michael Kightly's impact than his management remains to be seen. A bit like Malky Mackay, he started off unconvincingly stepping up into seemingly 'bigger' shoes, but is growing into them.
  2. Why? What would be a better fashion? Surely the way he has delivered the message is on purpose to keep us away or only come back with a big money offer. Explain the situation to the player, negotiate with him a fair release price, waive loyalty fees etc, keep it in house and all on verbal terms, if its NUFC who made the leak to the press, deny it till you die. Fuck that, spark a bidding war. I see little wrong with what we've done - it's not particularly tactful, but we are a small club who need every penny we can get for our players - if you look at our net spend and accounts over the past few years, you'll see that we pretty much rely on selling players on, to scrimp on that for the sake of saving face/whatever is ridiculous. It's hardly pathetic either - it's a reasonable thing to do in this kind of situation - especially when there are other clubs (Swansea) who have registered strong interest in the player in the recent past, why wouldn't we want competing bids?
  3. you really want kadar? lol if you have him on loan you'll get to keep him, his contract runs out in the summer and there are no sign of us entertaining the idea of giving him a new one. Well, we'd need a centre-back to replace Mariappa immediately and our current pairing otherwise is Nosworthy and Taylor with Mirfin for support - hardly ideal, albeit not unreasonable for a side not wanting to aim higher than 21st in the Championship. I'd love to take Ferguson for a while, though, give us some good wide options to replace Kightly (who was fantastic). We're not going to have any money to spend, so if you're serious and were offering players on loan, I'd be very disappointed if we didn't explore these avenues.
  4. Would take Kadar and Ferguson on loan for the season + £2M. I reckon we're holding it for closer to £3M, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mariappa and Sordell leave for £6M or so combined. Our recent boards have just wanted to rake in the income, reinvest small amounts, then claim to be doing something. It's embarrassing really, worse than Ashley, but on a smaller scale. It's a wonder we've managed to stay at Championship level despite having such a small budget for so long, following serious financial mismanagement after promotion (i.e money disappearing for no real reason).
  5. fk off skirge (insert winkyface) Soz if you've already posted, is he any good? Nah he's shit, you wouldn't want him.

  8. Might as well sign Andy Reid while you're at it.
  9. They've got a team like no other in the Championship, a lot like our team when we were down there. They're shit most of the time though, despite their squad.

Forcing clubs to have to interview at least one 'ethnic' manager isn't going to solve anything. Black players doing their coaching badges, pitching up in lower leagues, proving themselves beyond doubt, then rising, will inspire appropriately. It'll take longer than their talent justifies, but they'll get there and it's the most organic way for them to be properly recognised and accepted within English football. They shouldn't be forced in, in the same way that they shouldn't be forced out based on prejudices. Positive discrimination is bullshit though, especially when we HAVE the lower leagues as a breeding ground, as opposed to NFL where it's like a closed-shop franchise with less of a meritocratic (as if English Football could be described as such...) way of coach progression.

Represented in terms of spread of managers to clubs, sorted by ethnicity. In those terms, they are poorly represented, relative to the population of black footballers.

It is the case that black managers are not well represented enough, but the Rooney Rule is stupid. Black managers will prove themselves in the coming years, it'll be harder than if they were not black, but the rule is ridiculous in the context of the development of English football (it is slow, but it gets there, racially, basically).
  13. Reminds me of Best. Much better than Best, imo.
  14. Liverpool don't seem to have a consistent present team or seemingly coherent gameplan.
  15. £2 on Norwich at HT - 13.5 £5 on Watford and Swansea at HT respectively, 2.7 and 2.3 respectively, i think.
  16. That's pretty incredible actually. You've played two games less than most of the teams in the rest of the top 5 divisions tbf.
  17. Modric and Mata are nowhere near alike, other than being tiny and both being footballers.
  18. Werder Bremen Southampton PSG Nagoya Monaco Rotherham Gillingham £2 on at 35.39
