  1. I'll be a little upset the day Ancelotti's left eyebrow is no longer raised.
  2. Nolan is an absolute fucking divvy for giving that interview. Out of order completely.
  3. you can hear individual shouting quite a bit in this game Heard Bruce earlier, 'Jordan.... Jordan! Who have you got?' just heard a thick mackem accent saying 'referee man, yer f***ing yewsless man!'
  4. me mam reckons he was pushed 100% Keys and Gray were right. Women know fuck all about football.
  5. Macdonald's on the legends saying its a cracking bit of business, we've taken Liverpool to the cleaners and its all about money. People queuing up to argue with him. Having gone through both sides of the story and Pardew's interview, I'm now most definitely swaying to believe it was ultimately down to Carroll's greed. However we've got £35m and he's getting his 80-90k p/w. Both parties are relatively satisfied.
  6. Bet he had alot of doubts and his mind would have been f***ed during the whole thing. I wonder how he'll fair off the pitch and also on it without the support of our group Nolan, Barton etc. I can see him going off the rails tbh. Definantly, he'll be doing life this time next year He won't be exactly welcomed back on Tyneside as well. and he will be back. Can see him 'doing a Chopra' and making regular trips back when time allows.
  7. I said it earlier. But say tottenham were offered 35m for VDV instead at that point in the window. Do you think theyd have sold him? Some players are bigger than your clubs current position, vdv is for them & Carroll was for us. We could have pushed for Europe & used that to attract quality players then sold him in the summer if we had to. We couldve just rejected the bid in general & had Ashley invest in us to achieve. We couldve used Carrolls ability & reputation to attract better players also. Just as we did with Shearer. There were other far more ambitious options. this cannot be overlooked.
  8. So whenever a player has a good patch, he should get another payrise 2 months after his last? I'm on the board's side when it comes to not giving him a new contract. Not claiming they're completely blameless, but I'm not arguing on the lack of new contract. As I said in another post, it makes you wonder what was negotiated in October. Did he settle for less then? But Ashley giving Carroll use of his helicopter hardly creates the idea they wanted to keep him.
  9. makes you wonder why he didn't say he wanted 80k p/w when he negotiated the October deal
  10. so Carroll pretty much admits he was after more money. OK thats not cool, but its also clear the club aren't prepared to stump up to keep better players at the club. Don't expect much progress from now on. Both are to blame.
  11. We've also had many worse players on much bigger contracts, players much worse than Carroll on huge deals. Yes that was part of a different regime and the size of the remuneration package those poor players were on almost brought the club down. However, there is nothing wrong with tying your very best players down on attractive contracts. Every other 'big' club does it. Problem is Ashley tries to do everything on the cheap, Carroll should have been offered 80 grand a week to stay. Yes he is young and inexperienced but that is the going rate for a player of his potential. Putting him on 30 grand a week when other clubs were sniffing round is tantamount to putting a 'come and get me' sign on the back of his shirt. Which is perhaps what Ashley wanted. I have no problem with rewarding the very best players. It's the dross on 40-50 grand a week that should have their contracts looked at.
  12. so we're going to win games by being strong defensively? You also need to score, meaning theres a helluva lot of pressure on Nolan and Barton to chip in. Ireland is a total gamble in that he could be utterly shit as much as he could be a spark. Its not going to be particularly fun watching the next few months.
  13. wouldn't have been that hard for the club to reject the Liverpool bids and say 'stick it out until the summer, we'll make it public you're for sale then'. I've little doubt we still could have fetched £35m. Their eyes simply lit up when the realised they could have £35m off Liverpool there and now.
  14. aye but what good is that on February the fucking 1st man? As has been said a million times, you can't play a big pile of money up front. We're not fucking safe from relegation yet. Now we've got to play out the rest of the season with a collection of piss-weak second rate strikers.
  15. bollocks. Pardew is just spouting shite in support of MA and DL as their yes man and puppet. We'll not see that full £35m reinvested in the summer. If we do somehow spunk £35m, expect to see extra brought in from further sales.
  16. signed this fella on fifa 11 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balázs_Dzsudzsák meant I could drop Jonas. Paid £14m on fifa, which obviously is the closest thing to real life valuations (I sold James Perch for £5m so this wasn't a made up figure) so I reckon we could do likewise. His name is also utterly baffling. That wiki also says he's shoved Mike Dean before. The guy sounds like a hero.
  17. did ElDiablo put 'bant' in the thread title or did someone else? Whoever did wants fucking shot.
  18. Shola Ameobi Peter Lovenkrands Leon Best Nile Ranger Phil Airey fucking depressing seeing that written down. Worst set of strikers in the league.
  19. is this numpty our new number 9 then?
