  2. Anyone notice how quiet the press have been regarding Mr Gerrard...

Bollocks. How about being stuck on a wing, attempting to beat 2 men single handedly all the time, only to do so, whip a cross in for no other fucker to have bothered their arse to get forward. I personally rate him, he can get better, but he needs some bloody help ffs. He cant do it on his own. Also, its his first season in a different league. I dont exactly think he's doing much wrong all things considered.
  4. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/123026/MEIRELES-ON-TOON-HITLIST.html But were all racists...
  5. His brother is sound as fuck...so I dont see any reason that Carrol wouldnt be the same.
  6. Should we boo any player who wears black and white? I'm sure that would encourage them to want to a. play well and b. want to stay. No offence to anyhow who booed the Zog, but its unhelpful and unsupportive. Not what we need at the moment.
  7. Off to toon in 15 minutes. Strangely looking forward to this game for some reason. We'll most likely lose.
  8. Haha, he's such a character. Its nice to hear someone talk about us so passionately and they are not even from here!
  9. Am I the only one who thinks the Riise signing would be a decent recruit. Not the greatest left back ever to grace the premier league, but he has one hell of a shot on him and always looked decent for Liverpool. Oh, not sure if this has been mentioned, but we are apparently after Darren Bent from Spuds as he is a little miffed at the arrival of Grandaddy Defoe.
  10. Think ill go see his brother tomorrow on me way to the match and tell him that Andy looks like a fucking penis.
  11. NUFC coach can't wait for transfer window to shut Jan 9 2009 By Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle TOON coach Chris Hughton says that the closure of the January transfer window can't come quick enough for Newcastle United. The former Spurs and West Ham defender feels that the end of the Premier League's player trading period will allow the Magpies to focus on matters on the pitch after stars like Shay Given, Charles N'Zogbia and Michael Owen were all linked with moves away from St James's Park. Speaking at United's Press conference before the West Ham game, he said: “Eventually we will be glad to get January out the way. “It’s an inconvenience, there is plenty of speculation going on but we have to put up with it. “All you can do is get your team and tactics right and make sure the morale is good. “And the morale is good here. “Morale is very good – one thing the players are aware is that there is speculation everywhere. “We’re happy with the squad we have and we want to bring in two or three who can boost the squad. “The priority is to keep what we have because we are happy with the quality. “At times when we have picked up injuries the strength of the squad has been tested, we’d like to come out with more players than we went in with. “It’s a busy period not just for us, for all clubs. “We are seeing what is available. “People are working hard to make sure it is done the right way." And looking ahead to West Ham, he added: “It will be tough, they are on a good run, they have had some impressive results. “And they have done it the way West Ham play traditionally, we can’t afford to underestimate. “We need to focus on our game - we are on the back of two defeats and we want to get back to winning ways." Meanwhile Hughton is hoping that the former player curse won't occur at St James's Park tomorrow when West Ham come to Toon. Both Titus Bramble and Abdoulaye Faye have both netted on Tyneside this season and with Craig Bellamy, Scott Parker and Kieron Dyer all set for a return to Newcastle tomorrow. He said: “We haven’t had too good a record with former players returning. “We are hoping it is better against West Ham. “It’s about us and we have to impose our game on them." :: Charles N'Zogbia and Danny Guthrie both passed late fitness tests this morning and are fit to face the Hammers. -------------- Quite an interesting quote that.
  12. Doesnt he have something wrong with his legs or growth hormone or something, which means his career will, unfortunately be, short lived compared to most?
  13. Mickey didnt start off here if I remmember correctly...
  14. I dont really think we have a problem with our away support. when the team needs us behind them, we'll get behind them. there is an issue with getting tickets fo an away game, its done on a loyalty thing so is a closed shop to most fans, its the sam few thousand you see everywhere. day tripping isnt really an issue with away fans, as to qualify for a ticket, you need a certain number of credits, like at your place last week, you werent entitled to a ticket unless youhad a minimum of 8 away credits from last season. the game last weekend was an odd one atmosphere wise, we never really got going, even though we were twatting you. why? i dont know, maybe a combination of kick off time, hangovers and the freezing cold. Also the team were coasting on the pitch and the support seemed to coast along too. At Anfield this season the atmosphere has been very tense at times. there is a growing feeling that we may be about to launch a serious challenge for the league, and the atmosphere is getting tense and its affecting the players on the pitch. a few of the 0-0's we played out last month, had we sored the roof would have come off the ground. Our fans are desperate to win the league this season, but it isnt helping the atmosphere. infact, unless its a big European night at Anfield or the derby, the atmosphere is poor, but i have found that the same in most grounds over the past few years. the other difference between our fans and most others is we actually sing about our own team and our own players. there have been a few on here praising Man Uniteds away fans, but do you actually listen to what they sing?. the vast majority of their songs are about Liverpool. Scousers this and scousers that, Hillsborough this and Heysel that. even when they won the European Cup last year, they were singing "are you watching Liverpool" when they lifted the trophy. singing about them when we arent playing them is something you wont hear from our fans. Never heard an anti-Sunderland song when were playing Bolton/Portsmouth/West Ham/etc etc? He's a scouser, I think he was on about their support and singing about Man U when they play the likes of us.
  15. Why, in two seperate threads, has this decended into once more, Old Board Vs New Board. Can we get back ON TOPIC please - leave the bickering, arguing and ultimately pointless discussion about the above to the NE5 Thread. Its over and done with. We have to move on and make do, for now, with what we have. No amount of arguing is going to change it for Christs sake!

I had no idea what you lot were on about...and then I read the article. Jeeeeesus W H Smith. Totally unexpected and totally unessecary.
  17. Wouldnt believe it anyhow...it was Willie McKay, but he said we are after 5 players...and have the means to bring them in.
  18. Willie McKay (HAHAHAHAH) quoted as we have the means to bring in 5 players - although he didnt want to name names. *cough* *cough* Also according to SSN we (the club) have said 'Given is not for sale and no offer would be welcome for him'
  19. a bit embarrassing that. infact, this whole thread is cringeworthy. lets be honest, the standards Newcastle set and Liverpool set are worlds apart. battering a team fighting relegation 5-1 away is hardly anything to get excited about. we could have banged in 10 and you lot couldnt have had any complaints. so forgive us for not getting as excited as you lot might be if you had beaten us 5-1 away to go top(a laughable notion anyway). maybe to create more of an atmosphere you could have all swirled around your free scarves. the ones the club gave you to try and create an atmosphere. If i were following the toon i'd be spending less time worrying about the singing from a bunch of hungover and freezing cold away fans, and more about getting 40 odd points so you will still be in the division next season, because to be quite honest, you lot were the worst team we have played this season Sorry mate, I'm certinally not embarressed by what I wrote, infact if you read what I actually said its far from saying anything about how 'we are worlds apart', merely highlights how well I thought (given the circumstances) our fans got behind the team. To use the excuse of cold & hungover and also you lot 'slaughtering' us, as causing you guys a reason not to sing, then I really dont know what you want out of football? Christ, I'm pretty sure if we were 5-1 up away from home then we would be going mental. Also, to then generally start taking the piss because of free scarves (we waved them like twice?), stating we are the worst team you have played and about us "Should be worrying about our league status" rather than being in this division is just crazy. I never mentioned anything to of the sorts in my previous post. Did I touch a nerve or was I merely stating an eyewitness account of both sets of fans. Now please. Lets move on ey? ey? ey? ey?
