To totally disregard any posts previous let me have my two penneth. Lets put it one way, our support was good for the first 20minutes. I enjoyed the atmosphere and thought we outsung the other team. Events on the pitch took a downturn, we began to become less 'united' in our support. The Liverpool fans still remained relatively quiet. Now, I know the argument of 'were winning, we dont need to shout and scream' can sometimes come into play, but howay... Imagine this scenario: The year is 95, we are playing Liverpool Away, the scoreline is 5 -1 to us. We are top of the league at Christmas with a 3 point lead. What would the atmosphere be like? Picture it? Good? Now picture their fans today. Silent, minus 4 minutes after each goal. Results and performances on the pitch go hand in hand with the atmosphere, but a team pushing for 1st spot come the end of the season, in the champions league and looking very strong could have, and should have had a very very strong support, or at least some atmosphere. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Blackburn managed to create more noise than these lot. All I'm trying to highlight in the above is the fact that, yes, we were getting absolutely raped on the pitch...but to drown out a team that are top of the league, in the champions league and are winning 5-1 is brilliant. Thank you NUFC and Singing Section for reminding me of what it means to SUPPORT my team no matter how much of a disgrace we are on the field. Supporters are the life and soul of NUFC, and no matter how shite we are, we (personally speaking) showed how much we care today.

More like how it should have been today. Left us alone, no trouble. The only thing I saw was a family being escorted out, or to another area of the ground. More than likely due to some of the words of our songs. to the ground to go with the 'underpolicying' policy today, rather than the bouncer syndrome. No doubt it will return next game.

We need to spend 10m+ hence why I chose that option. If we actually will remains to be seen.

Newcastle United 1 - 5 Liverpool - 28/12/08 - Post rape reaction from page 19

My voice is fucked. There fans are an utter disgrace. Top of the league, 5 nil up and yet the loudest I heard was after they scored the 3rd. Sorry to say, but these self confessed 'best fans in the land' should be ashamed. Often we get branded with the 'best fans in the land' title, but these fuckers should be shot - I heard more noise from the 12 Blackburn fans that turned up when we played them. Very good atmosphere after there 4th went in where I was sat. Everyone being proud about our club even after a right tonking. The stewards even managed to crack a smile and not decide to hit people this week. As for the performance. Fuck it. Expected to get whalloped and we did. Its mad that we lose two players in defence, and a very stable back four turns into a very 'what the hell is going on' back four. -
Fetch Saviola on loan in January. Give him a shot, if he fits in, bam, summer transfer ahhoy!
-
Its just a shame that it normally takes him 5 chances to score one. Or it used to anyhow.

Shall we sing Bassong for you! Shall we sing Bassong for you! Sorry chaps, we need to get this going.

This following sums up the plight of some of our fans. I'd hardly say Im the most PC of my mates but my asian mates tend to laugh it off the same way as normal. Check this: Met up with two of my mates from High School tonight - Christmas Eve - One who is of Bangledeshi Origin and one who has a Saudi Ariabian father and a English Mother. Both of which are the soundest, nicest people you could ever wish to meet. What happpens, some biggoted fool throws a full pint glass at my mate. How utterly daft is that? I personally feel ashamed to my muslim mates as they even gave me and my mate a lift home. What kind of people do we live with? What kind of people cannot accept other people, no matter what religion, what demonor, etc people live at, yet they still retain a substantial amount of local business. and support the local community, yet still kick off. Idiots.

I think West Broms home top looks class...something similar in that vein hopefully.

This is one of those age old arguments, that will, unfortunately, go on until we introduce 'safe standing' areas like they have in Germany etc. I will continue to stand and support my team irrespective of the current FA/Local Authorities regulations unless I'm asked to do so by a Steward politely and with respect. If I then ask the question on why I'm being specifically targeted and no one else around me has been asked, I then don’t expect to be ‘twatted’ in the face or escorted out of the ground. I personally don’t see why people are 'arguing' against the lads in Level 7 enjoying the football, enjoying chanting and the general banter. Yes we understand the rules. But on the other hand, if you venture up there and fancy a change from the rest of the ground, enjoy a losing your voice every other week and have a good laugh whilst doing so, you will see why we'd quite happily rather stand. As mentioned in a previous post, there HAS to be another way we can resolve this. Allot has changed since the old days where crowd crushes and surges were common place (albeit not on the scale of miss-policing of the Hillsborough disaster) and it really needs to be reviewed.

Very nice attitude to take. I personally choose to sit/stand in that corner, as do my 3 mates, as it has a cracking atmosphere and have never seen any bother, let alone heard anything other than football chanting. I'm neither poor or scum. But thanks for that anyhow. To stereotype a whole section of a crowd and say that people deserved to be treat with utter disdain and disregard for merely supporting their team is not only stupid it is also moronic. You’re not a bouncer/steward are you? No I am not. Did you manage to remain in your seat for most of the game during last season? Why do fans who have moved up to that part of the ground NEED to stand now? Is it to help the lungs sing? I think there is a certain mob mentality up there. Some of us knew what was coming when you saw the "characters" who ended up there during our European nights. The club has listened to fans by creating this area & selling the cheapest tickets possible & seems some fans cant abide the rules of entry. I guess you fall into Singing then Indeed I do. As for last season, I spent the majority sitting down unless there was an incident on the pitch that brought some excitement, but this is besides the point. I wouldnt stand in Milburn Level 7 because I wouldve felt slightly out of place. I don’t believe its a NEED to stand, I just believe that it provides a better atmosphere and brings back an older sense of the terraces (to which anyone would agree) provided a better and a more social atmosphere. I personally think it is a crazy rule, and something to which the FA etc need to look to review. If anything, they could even issue a disclaimer when tickets are dispensed agreeing to a 'I'll not sue the club if I hurt my leg because I'm standing' rule. There HAS to be a better way of doing things rather than going in heavy handed ala the current crop of bouncers/stewards. As I've said in previous posts, I've never seen an ounce of trouble or heard of any bother since my tenure in Level 7, that hasn’t been instigated by over zealous stewarding.

Jose Enrique out for at least three weeks with hamstring injury
mattypnufc replied to a topic in Football
I wouldnt read too much into that. Thats the Independants 'opinion' on the substitution. Personally, I think Jose was subbed because he was on a yellow card, Lennon has a bit more stamina than Enrique and that Kinnear believed that Jose may get 'done' at the later stages. -
Jimmy Bullard, Warnock signed and Saviola on loan please. Bullard would be a very good buy, cheap and also not on too many demanding wages. He grafts, is able to take set peices and offers something that no member of our midfield does at the moment. Warnock would offer good competition for Enrique and both players would have to up their game. Saviola is currently warming a bench and is not getting a game. With our attacking options currently limited and some injuries more than likely to be picked up, he would be a brilliant signing on loan for the rest of the season. I'd constitute that as a good window. Plenty of others on the hitlist, but they would be my 3.

Anyhow lads...lets not get distracted. He's our player, he's putting in good shifts and is looking very very competant within the back four. Suffice to say, given he is only 21, cost us fuck all and has looked at home along side Colo is very promising. Lets hope it continues.

Watched Sky Sports 30minute highlights and they covered this with so much less bias than the BBC. Its just crazy when you watch this sort of thing where they manage to 'cut' alot of the attacking play that we actually managed to do today and just show the spurs stuff. I'm in no way saying we played amazing, but we certinally didnt play as was shown on MOTD. It was a 50/50 game that couldve went either way.
-
Oh, and the stewards/police left us alone 2nd half...suffice to say, no incidents.
-
Another fine display in overzealous stewarding today resulting in 'rumoured' 6 arrests, one including a steward himself. Basically from what I saw (I sit about 200 yards away) steward speaking to a bloke (late 40s) next thing, he (the steward) twats this bloke. Bit of a scuffle, resulting in our fans around the bloke kicking off. Both the bloke and steward got karted away by the coppers. Half time, one of the lads overhears a bloke talkin to a steward, only to be met with 'write a letter to the club if you dont like it mate'. Once again, theres nowt untoward going on with our lads, so why oh why leave it well alone and just let us support the team ffs. Genius idea singing 'Stand Up if you love football' and getting Spuds to join in. Took them about 3 minutes we were helping them standup mind.
