  1. Duff was somewhere between average and crap during his time with us. He's near the top of the list.

For me, as well as the fact that he was disinterested and shit, it's the impact on N'Zogbia's progress that this waster had. I couldn't understand at the time why we were signing an inferior player (on loads more cash) than what we already had - who'd had a blinding finish to the previous season.

  2. I'm already decided I went to my last game last week.

    No longer interested.

    Boo hoo you spoiled child.

They say it takes a bigger man to walk away. Dont see why anyone should be abused for not wanting to let Ashley rub shit in his face each week under the pretence of 'supporting the team'

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that stance. Ashley has quite cynically calculated that he could spend the bare minimum in the hope that fans will be deluded enough to keep buying season tickets. That attitude doesn't deserve to be rewarded. Even though I hate to see St James looking less than full it's perfectly understandable for people not to buy into his make do and mend crap.

I came to this conclusion, via a different route, earlier in the summer:

    1. There are just much, much better things I can be spending my time and money on - I would much rather spend some quality time with my kids, or play guitar with my band.

    2. The only thing I can do which will in any way impact Mike Ashley is to not give him any more of my money.

  3. Is Zoggy only considered to be a attacking winger now or is he still used as a versatile player? I remember him doing brilliantly for us as defensive central midfielder at Stamford Bridge. I suppose thoug, being our left back was one of the reasons he got frustrated here. But I can se him as a great box to box central midfielder.

Souness thought he was a great defensive midfielder - "the next Scott Parker" was the quote.

But there again, he thought Jenas was a right back, Shola was a winger, and Boumsong was a Premier League footballer.

  4. Sam Allardyce confirmed as West Ham manager: "At Upton Park we'll attempt to play the kind of passing game the fans want"

    :spit:

    mmmmmmmwuahahahahahahaha

He has a one track mind !

You could say he has a "route one" track mind, ah ha ha

  5. Is the transfer window now officially open?  Or July 1st?

    Jamie Dalton -

The premier league transfer window began at the culmination of the Premier League season itself as per Premier League and FA rules. The date for international deals is around the 9th June. July 1st for most of the rest of Europe.

Isn't there something about players' contracts running till the end of June, which is why you don't see the contracts being officially signed until July 1st?

  6. Anyone hear Kevin Davies on the radio just now. Said something along the lines of 'Them kind of tackles happen all the time, most players just get up and get on with it'. Moron

I'd just like to remind everyone that the neanderthal saying this is in the England squad. I despair. FFS.

  7. Away to Derby the year we came back from 2-0 down to win 2-3. Shearer clashed heads with Rob Lee & had to go off, so we had Dyer and Lua Lua up front - some class, fluid, passing football rather than just booting it up at Shearer. Mint free kick from Robert the "wrong" way round the wall, and Lua Lua did the somersault and came right up to where I was to celebrate when he scored.

Was my first away game, could believe how much better the atmosphere was away. And the cherry on top of the cake was John "Prince of Darkness" Gregory getting sent of for quite rightly pointing out that we were offside for Dyer and Lua Lua's goals.

    Great days!

  8. Have to be happy with what we've brought in - cast your mind back to the stupid "no capital outlay" statement at the start of the summer & compare how you felt then with how you feel now.

As someone's already said, I'm still gobsmacked with the Ben Arfa deal. Can't wait to see the lad in black and white, he's going to be awesome!

  9. during the match yesterday, all i could think about is where would be if it didnt all go wrong last season.....

Kevin Nolan might well be working at Macdonalds now.

To be fair, it looks like he's spending quite a lot of time there already.

  10. "The Dubliner" on Stroget (the main pedestrian area of town) have loads of tellys, and can show multiple matches. They're usually quite amenable about showing stuff on request.

I would strongly recommend that you check out the "Parken" nightclub afterwards, the scenery is always very pleasant.

  11.

The Profitable Group probably never had the money for a bid and only used the club's sale in a cynical attempt to increase their own profile.

Yep, unable to provide proof of funds

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_5456939,00.html

Well, that surely puts a different slant on things - when I saw the headlines, I thought they'd withdrawn because they couldn't agree a price with Fat Mike. The fact that they don't have the money to buy the club in the first place should surely have the headline "NUFC withraw interest in Profitable bid"???

  12. Looks like we may well be stuck with fat c~#*t for another season with no new players....great....! We are doomed...

You're missing the "selling the few players we do have who can play football for buttons on transfer deadline day" part from your assessment there.

    And  :kinnear: coming back.

    :weep:

  13. From tonights Ronnie.

Llambias to miss friendly amid talks on takeover

Jul 9 2009 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

NEWCASTLE United managing director Derek Llambias is expected to steer clear of the Magpies’ first friendly of the summer as he focuses on the sale of the club.

Toon tycoon Mike Ashley is also not expected to be present in Dublin, where the black-and-whites will be represented at boardroom level by football secretary Lee Charnley.

United are understood to be working with the Malaysian consortium who visited Tyneside for a second time this week.

But despite the fact that the start of the Championship season is less than a month away, the pace of the sale is expected to continue at a lethargic rate.

Ashley’s PR man told the Chronicle today: “It has been well documented that bids of £100m have gone in and that we are still in the hands of lawyers.

“There continues to be interest in the sale of the club.

“And Keith Harris at Seymour Pierce is working very hard to go through the process of selling the club.”

Fans cruelly had their hopes raised in the last 24 hours after an internet hoax got out of control last night. It was claimed that Hong Kong-based investors were ready to bring in Gianluca Vialli as director of football and Alan Shearer as boss, along with a string of other exciting incentives.

However, this has turned out to be a complete wind-up which was first generated in cyberspace on Saturday night.

That did not stop some national newspapers falling for the trick although club sources confirmed today that there is no truth in the claims whatsoever.

What the fucks taking so long? If the bids match the selling price, surely Harris just has to advise Ashley which one to take. He's had nearly a month to check out the consortiums so he should have a good idea who the best ones will be.

Did a double-take on that last bit. Would be proper funny if Lee Ryder just went postal and put something like that on the back page of the Chronicle.

  14. Oh fucking hell, I really hope we get this guy.

I can't escape the feeling that Useless Mike might just choose the worst consortium out of those bidding as a final parting "gift" for us. You know, the one that's barely got enough to buy the club, no cash to invest.
