I also think there must be "other" reasons because even though I think he's slow he has to be better than zoggy, carr and company in that role?
Agreed. In playing terms, he HAS to be a better bet than Carr or Zog, by virtue of the fact that i) he can use his left foot to kick the ball and ii) he has played a lot of games at left back, and knows what the hell he's supposed to be doing there.
There's GOT to be something behind the scenes here.
On the rare occasions I've seen him play, he's looked like what I think he is, a young player coming to terms with a new league. He's done pretty well, albeit there are things to work on. How he's supposed to get used to the league without playing in it is something else I don't get.

They boo they get bollocked for being shit fans, they clap they get bollocked for being shit fans.
Oh dear.
Is it OK to just leave in total silence on the final whistle?

I presume some of these players havent got long left on their contracts. But who exactly is going to buy Joey Barton and Alan Smith?
Maybe we could give them to Allardyce in lieu of severance pay?

Its time for a pruge or a clean out of shit pundits.
....but there wouldn't be any pundits left!
I think Jeff Stelling's good, but after that i'm struggling...

Barnes is precisely the type of player we need. Young, Hungry, Point to Prove etc. We haven't bought this type since Sir Bobby left. He'd be coming here to make an impression and actually wanting to play. Not some washed-up former superstar on the gravy train
Exactly - and I can't see why we're quibbling about such a low price! Would love to see him here.

If I could ask one thing of the new regime it would be to stop all contact with Willie McKay. Any players who use him, change or get out.
Can we get an exclusion order put on him, or something?

I sense sarcasm!
I honestly think its a good sign he's on the bench and I really hope we get him in.
Not being sarcastic.
Like I said though, the fact he's still included in the squad tonight could prove that it'll be extremely unlikely we'll agree a fee before tomorrow night.
Could be them showing they are willing to play hard ball but not having the balls to go all the way and risk him getting injured.
Has he been in the first team up to now? If he's been on the bench for the 5 games running up to tonight, this might not be the sign we're looking for!!

I'd have to go for Solano TBH. It didn't matter how poor the pass in to him was, it was controlled in one touch - and intelligently distributed almost immediately. Wish we had a player like that in the side now!

I know this has been said on this thread, but Setanta's coverage is a study in bias. We're 3-1 up and all they can talk about is Spurs. Shocking.

I think the thing that's disappointing for me is that City were just as shit as us last season, but despite getting a new owner & manager in AFTER we did they seem to be playing much better football with much better players.
