Ryan Taylor and Danny Simpson simply aren't cut out for possession football. The fact Krul aims it up-field every time isn't great either, but I think he lacks confidence in his ability with the ball at his feet (as was evidenced when he turned it over on his right foot late in the game).

As has been said, the lack of respect shown to Peter Lovenkrands isn't on tbh.

He's not PL level, but he's done a job for us and isn't on big wages. Deserves the chance to see out his contract (but yes, shouldn't be anywhere near the first team).

Thats what I'm expecting. Something like that anyway. Marveaux moved back for a reason, he looked knackered. No way will he not play Orbertan with Barton not available and the rest he's had.

Like that team apart from Ameobi. Obertan is much better suited to playing off the striker, but I fear because we're at home Pardew will want to play a 4-4-2 with Obertan RW, Ba starting next to Ameobi and Gosling on the bench.

Relying on Gosling/Marveaux then, which is fine, but it just means that the squad depth is reduced yet again and with Marveaux's injury history it's a bit risky.

I don't blame Barton for leaving, I don't blame the club for wanting rid.

Just one of those things, let's hope Marveaux/Gosling can fill the void.

I think it's also a ploy from Barton/McKay to try and get Newcastle to offer him a new contract after his good start to the season.
