Enough of the shoes, why are you wearing Mike Ashley's jeans?
-
I hope that's at the eastern end of the 184 past Boldon. Imagine the fewm from the makems

My mate worked in the ticket office at that time and iirc, the club could have sold 80,000 tickets for that Wimbledon game. Just proves what potential we have as a club imho.

Cambridge are bringing up 5000, the PL away allocation is around 3000

Calling SJP " the landfill" never fails to make me chuckle. Their ground was literally built by filling land into an old pitshaft.

Good finish from Ings as well.

That game was absolutely class. Wes Saunders, who lived round the corner from me and was a Sunderland fan growing up, had his best game by far for us. Beardsley was magnificent, there was two makems sent off and I was stood in the scoreboard with my quietly fuming makem mate who couldn't get a ticket for the Leazes (away end in those days).

Naa, Ando was giving us snippets of info way before Jones came here.

It's a game the vast majority of them pretend never happened. I've lost count of the amount of makems (and even some of our fans) I've had to put right about it. If Mitrovic should be remembered for one thing...

Aye that game came up on my YouTube recommendations a couple of weeks back. A good old fashioned kicking match, as many of the England Scotland games were back then. Bobby Moore was as good as I remembered and Moncur wasn't far behind, cool on the ball. I've always had a soft spot for Bob, he was our captain when I first went to the match. Obviously his legacy has been tainted recently, with his defence of Ashley, mind. Biggest surprise for me was seeing John Brownie at fullback for Scotland. I can't remember thinking much of him when he played for us a few years later, surprised he was capped to be honest, Scotland had some decent players in those days.

Thoroughly deserved unexpected point. Could have been three

Fuck sake. We can't get a break even when we play well

Waiting for VAR to rule it out

Less than a minute and the cockney reds start up with Cheer up Alan Shearer
-
Because no-one (apart from Jake Humphreys) ever picks them up on it, therefore their ridiculous spoutings become the narrative.

Bloody hell, they've let the mascot score

It's the one undeniable fact that makes them a smaller club than us. It's been the same for at least 70 years, the last time they were a club respected at the top table. When they won the cup in 73, it was all "giant killers" and "plucky little Sunderland beat favourites Leeds" - we've never gone into a game like that as such underdogs.

Just heard this news today. I work with his other son Mark.
-
Jeez. Why am I watching this.

I follow him on Twitter and he's as sound as a pound. I'm guessing he's not flavour of the month with the makems these days with his socialist views.

When we built level 7, the capacity increased by roughly 16,000. Just off the top of my head, that would equate to around 9-10,000 in the Milburn and 6-7,000 in the Leazes. I would imagine you'd be looking at a similar increase to the Leazes expansion, with a couple of thousand added on for the South West corner.

The Leazes End roof removal was part of a much grander plan, which (thankfully, in my opinion) never went ahead. Basically, the East Stand was the first part and the plan was to complete the whole ground in the same design. The Leazes End was next and after removing the roof and relaying the small terrace, the club ran out of money and left it as it was. The finished capacity on completion would have only been about 40,000 or so and that was with standing areas at the front of all the stands. We would have ended up with about a 25,000 capacity, once all seater stadiums became the requirement.
