  1. Clutching at more straws. Benitez signing a contract with Newcastle ties him to the club, whether it is sold or not. There is nothing to stop him having agreed some kind of deal with BZG to be their manager if/when the deal goes through. If he were to do that then it would be likely to be kept secret, losing Rafa reduces the value of the club and puts more pressure on Ashley to sell. Unless and until it is announced from either side that BZG have pulled out, or he takes over somewhere else, this doesn't necessarily mean that Rafa is gone.
  2. I'm a bit fit, but certainly not proper.
  3. F.4. If any Person proposes to become a Director of a Club (including for the avoidance of doubt by virtue of being a shadow director or acquiring Control of the Club): F.4.1. the Club shall, no later than 10 Working Days prior to the date on which it is anticipated that such Person shall become a Director, submit to the Board a duly completed Declaration in respect of that Person signed by him and by an Authorised Signatory, at which point that Person shall be bound by and subject to the Rules; F.4.2. within five Working Days of receipt thereof the Board shall confirm to the Club whether or not he is liable to be disqualified as a Director under the provisions in Rule F.1, and if he is so liable the Board will take the steps set out in Rule F.6; and F.4.3. he shall not become a Director until the Club has received confirmation from the Board pursuant to Rule F.4.2 above that he is not liable to be disqualified as a Director under the provisions of Rule F.1. If the declaration was submitted last weekend, tomorrow is five working days.
  4. Imagine being a mackem if this happens, the day after the last kick of the season sank them even further from the depths of lowest point in their club's history. I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.
  5. I assume it would be as long as the fit and proper person test takes.
  6. this sort of naievity really needs looking at. he is taking money out without reducing the debt. No need to be so cunty, I was only trying to grasp at possible positives in a sea s***. I am far from naive. Even if he has paid himself back it's not really helping matters. I think most of us assumed his 300mil asking price was inclusive of the debt but if he has paid himself a chunk of debt back and is still asking 300Mil then that would be another matter entirely. It does. If Ashley sold the club, inclusive of £140m debt for £300m he would be not much more than braking even on what he paid for the club. If the club clears the debt first and he sells for £300m he'll make more than £150m profit.

  8. One positive is that it indicates that Ashley has been 'paying himself back' a huge amount of money and, if we do stay up this season, we might no longer be in debt to him. That could make the sale of the club much more straightforward.
  9. The Euro - US Dollar rate didn't really change immediately after the referendum result. The Pound plummeted. History suggest that there is quite a lot of doubt that the Euro will be equally affected.
  10. It's got to the point that I'm not bothered whether we win or lose. The only person that will benefit if we stay up is that sociopathic cunt. If we're stuck with him I hope we plummet and become a weight around his neck.
  11. Why should I gamble fixing the brakes in my car with my own money, would you? Just add it to the value of the car when you come to sell it, you could stick the cost of the petrol you put in it on there as well. Make sure to put "no tyre kickers or time wasters" in the advert.
  12. Although, for the protection of my sanity, I subscribe to the theory that this and last year's takeover sagas are just an excuse not to spend in the January window... I had a suspicion that the Everton home match about this time last year was pivotal in the takeover, or lack thereof. I remember Rafa hinting something along those lines in his pre-match press conference. Had we won that match I think it may have given Staveley enough confidence that we would survive to meet Ashley's demands. In the end we narrowly lost and by the time results turned around Ashley it was too late for the takeover to happen. If the current takeover is genuine (from both sides) I have a slight, wildly optimistic, suspicion that today's result could possibly be just as pivotal as that Everton one might have been.
  13. Ashley Madison Too vanilla, get him on Fetlife as an asexual babyboy.
  14. It could possibly be a breach of the Data Protection Act if they didn't get the consent of the people in the photo. That would be amazing like. Name and shame the idiots and Sunderland get in trouble at the same time. The fines can be massive. I know of Councils that have has six-figure fines for very minor breaches that they've self-reported.

'kin 'ell. I'm supposed to be making quesadillas for the dinner, yknaa? It can be basically summarised as; it's a fucking monstrosity.

  19. I'm not surprised, it was a fucking monstrosity! I can't see the Planning Inspectorate allowing it if they do appeal. A few bribes will ensure it goes ahead I've seen cases with a strong whiff of behind the scenes political influence (much bigger stuff than an advertisement consent appeal, no chance that would happen here) but I very much doubt that bribery actually occurs, in appeals.

  21. I feel your pain. I once spent a flight to Italy staring at a missing screw at the bottom of the door, just getting more and more anxious. It was probably just to hold the carpet down. I hate every moment of flying, every second I'm just waiting for something bad to happen. Seconds feel like minutes, minutes feel like hours and hours feel like days. I know how safe flying is really but I just can't get past the fear of the fear if something were to happen.
  22. Being interviewed on Radio 4 right now.
  23. From his author's profile on Huffington Post, probably written by him: "His strong relationships within the UAE - built up over the past 22 years - have been responsible for a number of leading Arab investors making significant investments in Europe. As Vice Chairman of Newcastle United Football Club, Tony was instrumental in negotiations to sell the club to the Dubai government. While the deal was not finalised due to the club owner changing his mind, Tony was nonetheless indispensable when it came to introducing potential buyers and leading negotiations.
