  1. Yeah would work with Routledge as well
  2. We could easily play the 4-2-3-1 formation with HBA and KPB in the team. Guthrie and Barton are capable of playing some sumptuous balls forward and with quality like Ben Arfa, Boateng and Jonas further up field Carroll would get a bagful.
  3. Barton Guthrie Jonas/Routledge KPB Ben Arfa Carroll
  4. If we were to get Ben Arfa and Boateng then our midfield options would be tasty.
  5. Ben Arfa and then Boateng. I'd wank.
  6. Was speaking to my cousin's fiance who's a Man U fan and he echoes the sentiment that its probably the best time to be playing them. I'm expecting the worst, but nonetheless I'll be cheering the lads on beer in hand from a Portuguese sports bar. Probably be surrounded by Mancs, but hopefully will find a fair few geordies to watch it with.

Whose the someone? No one reliable, just some fansite. Didn't really think they were noteworthy enough to mention, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Someone on twitter reckons he's off to Hoffenheim and we've given up. Don't really care anymore tbh.
  9. Sorted I'll go home on the Friday and come up Saturday morning £22 return on the train from Leeds if I book it well in advance. I'll buy whatever is the cheapest for the Wigan game.
  10. This signing would surely mean Uruguay tops being sold in the club shop?

If we managed to stay up, stabilised next year with a few good signings and then sold us to a sugar daddy I'd give him credit.
  12. Chester Gravesend Dagenham (merged with Redbridge to 'survive') Halifax Town Hayes (merged with Yeading to 'survive') Milton Keynes City Probably a few more. Dagenham and Redbridge was a marriage of convenience. As was Hayes and Yeading. Both clubs were stable on their own but one merged with the other in order to preserve status and generate income via ground sale and an expected increase in support. Grevesend & Northfleet changed their name to Ebbsfleet, nothing else changed. Scarborough Athletic play in the Northern Counties East Premier Division, they were formed to replace the defunct club much like the new Halifax. Nice to see Scarborough still alive. Halifax will be in the Blue Square Premier in a few years, their history of bouncing between League Two and the Conference has helped them attract very good players at lower league level, and the crowds they are getting just make them too big for that level. They'll probably get back to back promotions tbh.

Halifax have reformed as FC Halifax Town and are in the Northen Premier League, one league below the Blue Square North. They were promoted from Northern League division one last year. Scarborough have also reformed but I've no idea at what level and they aren't allowed to play at their old stadium.
  14. I could do the 16th as far as I know. Decent chance of a home win against Wigan as well.
  15. Try London, getting smashed, NFL at Wembley. Big weekend. Newcastle v Sunderland is considerably bigger than that s****. Agreed but as dan stated, tickets were on sale way before the mackems fixture date was announced, so I had my tickets booked well in advance and the 49ers are my team. If we stay up the derby will be there next season and so will I.

  17. Not to be too blunt but you can sack that date right off.

Barton will do as DM. Barton is a box to box midfielder, as is Guthrie as is Gosling. We need someone to just sit in front of the back 4 and break attacks up. The only person who barely resembles that is Smith, and he's not exactly an expert at it. What Danny Guthrie have you been watching? He's a decent CM, but I wouldn't say he was a dynamic box to box midfielder. I never said the word 'dynamic' but he clearly is a box to box midfielder, half the time last season he was the only one giving our midfield any drive. Underrated player imo who will do well.

Barton maybe was a box-to-box midfielder who drove on the game of his team (at Man City, under KK here maybe as well). His apparances last season and in pre-season (against depor) suggest he's more like a DM now sitting deep and trying to get some good balls through the defence into the run of our strikers. Have to admit I haven't seen much of pre-season, but he is definitely best going forward, the one pass for Routledge's goal against Plymouth suggests that he could play the role, but that was against Plymouth. Schweinsteiger is the prototype for the DM as you say.

We can't go away from home and just attack now. Plus Speed and Lee were twice the player of any of our current centre mids.
