They do, but I don't think its fair to take penalties out of the equation, they're a high pressure situation and Shearer had them down to an art. As for RVN I'd take Shearer over RVN anyday. Nothing to do with the PL but have you noticed how shit and unfit Van Nistelrooy has been since he left Man U. Overrated player imo.

Penalties are there to be scored. Plenty of good players miss them, they still count when you look at his record.
-
True, but to suggest players like Van Nistelrooy and Drogba should be in there instead is laughable. Shearer still scored a bagful in the noughties. As did those two. Hardly laughable to suggest those 2 have a good case to be included. If its over a decade though it has to be Shearer. RVN was only at United a few seasons and Drogba hasn't been at Chelsea that long. Shearer retired in what 2006/07? 6 years of consistently scoring.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2009/12/ever_had_a_hospital_pass.html Given and Shearer in. Funny to see all the comments from Man United and Chelsea fans saying that Shearer shouldn't be in there.

Him and Enrique have reached a similar cult hero status as Ameobi and Ranger

I see a fair few Leeds games and I don't think he'd fail at Championship level, I'd back him to get 10-15 goals. He has a better eye for goal than any of our current strikers, also the step up from League 1 to the Championship isn't that great, any of the dross in the bottom half of the league are bad enough to go down.

Saw some pics from the Boro game, and Harewood is wheeling away after scoring and Coloccini is right there with him and looks absolutely elated. Great to see.
-
More than likely, god knows Kinnear didn't know how to get the best out of last year's squad.
-
Little thought springs to mind when evaluating both Jonas and Coloccini. I remember watching that game at Man U and thinking 'we've got two gems here' as both had very good games. Obviously Coloccini is showing he is a class above in this league and will probably be more confident in the PL next year should we go up, however, with Jonas still very erratic in his performances do you think he'd be a different player if Keegan was still manager? Given Keegan's history of managing players like Ginola, not saying Jonas is even on the same planet in terms of ability as Ginola was, but I get the feeling that Keegan would have been able to properly nurture Jonas' talents and make him a more consistent and effective player for us. Its a mute point I know, but an interesting one nonetheless.

To be fair, if he gets and stays fit, he'll f***ing rape this league the rest of the season. Or he may just continue to be a 'nothing special' player for us on the pitch, as he has been for most of his time here when he hasn't been injured/suspended/in prison. Were we in the PL getting dicked every week I'd agree, but in this league you get masses of time and space on the ball, will suit him down to a tee when he's fit.

To be fair, if he gets and stays fit, he'll fucking rape this league the rest of the season.

He's come out with this s*** before and it didn't change him then, why should he be given any slack? He said the same after signing for us then went out on the piss in Liverpool and ended up doing time for it. He's a nutter and has no right to preach to others. Maybe cos it seems that he has actually done things to change himself rather than just talking about it. He has stopped drinking which is not the easiest thing in the world to do. He also wasn't in Tiger Tiger having a set to with fans on Monday night was he? Or chucking glasses at people over this christmas time was he? Two years have passed. When does he have to do to prove that he has changed? Fair bit of media influence rests on the reputation of Barton. You can guarantee if he had injured a Wigan player rather than a Liverpool player last season the media wouldn't have cared anywhere near as much, also Shearer didn't handle it well in my opinion, a spat with a player in the dressing room should never make its way to the media. It always seems to though.

Love that shop. Try and go in everytime I'm in Newcastle for the match.
-
He is right to be fair, not like he can take the moral highground but fair play. On the pitch it would be nice to have him back, could use his passing which is better than most in our team.
-
Chopra to much money, Harewood or Beckford who are both going to be out of contract come the end of the season, we will prefer to pay out now for Beckford than Harewood. Agreed, Beckford has far more potential and would flourish in our team. I think he's had difficulties at Leeds because there aren't a lot of big ego's there, here there are a lot of fairly big names so it would suit him better.
-
Preston would be his most likely destination I think, he would do a good job there. They can still make the playoffs, and if thye don't they would definitely be candidates to go up next year.
-
Think Skirge is right, will probably be Beckford imo. Cardiff will try to rinse us for every penny for Chopra, and we've been notable admirers of Beckford for a while.
-
I'd go Krul R. Taylor Simpson Kadar Enrique Lua Lua Butt Guthrie Vuckic Ranger Danquah If we rest Enrique then throw Lough in there.
-
Good. They won't get anyone better, thus they are fucked and not before time.
-
Just shows you what a great manager Sir Bobby was and what a shit one Souness was. Only time I've disliked Bellamy is when he was wearing a Liverpool shirt, still a joy to watch him run at defenders now.
-
Stephen Hunt, Bullard and Geovanni from Hull would be nice.
-
Squad would need a massive overhaul. We lack depth in defence, creativity and pace in midfield and an established striker who is PL quality. Dream scenario, get promoted with a few games left in the season, fat Mike to announce he's found a buyer, new owners to come in, bring in a manager with real pedigree and give him a warchest to sign players with. Of course that'll never happen.
-
Did Carroll glass you or something? Him and Lovenkrands were working well together, if we'd stuck with them we probably would have scored. Lovenkrands played well, Carroll did nothing in the air, and barely anything with the ball on the deck as usual. Ranger is a far better player.

fucking shit. cant be arsed doing ratings. apalling that guthrie didn't play, carroll can fuck off as well he's shite. drowd were shocking as well fwiw.
