Sammy looks seriously anorexic in the older photos from a few years back. He actually filled out a bit by the time he came on against Chelsea, although it looks like he may have lost some of it again.
-
The fact he looks fucking knackered by the end, of course, is of no concern.

It really does feel like Sunderland is like Newcastle's disabled sibling, locked in a wardrobe and banging on the door to get released. Completely ignorant that they're in there for a reason.
-
 1 every 28 minutes? So he'd get booked on average 3 times a game?

The club told us (United for Newcastle) that the strategy is simple: whatever the league position we finish in each year, we better it the next year. Top 10 seems like a reasonable aim in keeping with that. We're not going to break into top six or eight next year.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea

That's really unnecessary tbh. If you wanted him shot of the number ten, there's gotta be free numbers between 10 and 53 He's a useful player, that's what pisses me off. Fair enough if we want rid, but if he has to stay or we chose to keep him he could have a good role off the bench running at tired legs. Instead, we play these juvenile games of freezing people out, loaning them out and kicking them in the teeth like Xisco just because we've decided something about them that hasn't really been proven on the pitch. -

Comes across really well in that interview, like.

Nolan had a choice, and he chose West Ham. No hard feelings, he wanted the security. We made the right call in not giving him a stupid contract. Thanks for being a fantastic captain, a great leader, and for a hat-trick against the Mackems. And good luck. Now, let's move on and bring in someone better.

That's not the point. He shouldn't be putting stuff like that out in the public domain. Guess that depends on your perspective. I can understand the argument, but if our players are being f***ed about my the management I have no problem with Barton putting that in the press and being honest. I doubt he's sowing sedition where none should exist. I hate the way our club is run, and if one of the players stands up and says there's good reason for that, then respect to him. Do you want all the operations of our club done in the public domain then? It could get very messy. No, of course not. But when the ship's being steered by blind drunkards, I'd rather it got messy so it could get better. How is this going to help it get better though? Mike Ashley isn't going to sell NUFC to a benevolent saviour because Joey Barton has his knickers in a knot. Of course not. But the general idea is that ever-growing fan resentment and pressure will eventually build and make his position unsustainable. Maybre we're just stuck with him, though, and that won't work. In which case, if we accept that and lie down, are we really fans of a club? Or do we simply spectate as we would a series of Casualty unable to change or influence at all? Maybe it really is the latter, but I think it's horrendously sad when the fans of an English Premier League club start to feel that.

I'd feel the same regardless of who owned/ran us tbh. Things like this shouldn't be in the national press, keep it all behind closed doors and sort whatever needs to be sorted privately. Could be Ashley, Shepherd or the Queen, don't give a s*** - keep it private. But if it's kept silent and quiet, the club'll do what it has in the past. Do what it wants and spin PR towards everyone: press, fans, the lot. They'll lie like they did with Keegan, give false promises like they did with level 7 seating. Personally, I don't feel the club will sort anything out privately. They'll do what they think is best. And their track record is pretty damned poor when it comes to making big decisions.

Can't disagree with anything Barton says.
-
£££ and stability for his family would be my guess. A premiership club could not offer him that? Well, we certainly fucking can't offer either.
-
Will definitely be sad to see him leave. Mediocre footballer at best, but a fantastic leader and he will be difficult to replace.

They're selling one of this at the Heart Foundation in Eldon Square. I had this one with Hamman on the back I think, then we sold him. I did the same with Ferguson. I was livid. My missus wore this one when preggers with my Daughter, got Shearer 9 on the back in Gold. Lush and still in good condition. The top not my wife.
