  1. It's crazy how his legacy and who he'll be remembered as (at this stage) was dependent upon a chance you would have expected him to bury and Higuan and Polacio being s***. Yet that's exactly how it'll be and it's hard to argue with. He still has two World Cups left in him imo, but he'll be extremely lucky to get a better chance than that.

He's the best footballer that I've seen in my life and he always will be tbh, so it really is now just a case of him doing it at that very highest level of Pele and Maradona.

I'm not sure that I'm a fan of him being a bit of a lone wolf though, he just doesn't seem that arsed about football anymore.

This. He attempted a gorgeous through ball between two german defenders that was seeking out Higuain before Schweinsteiger managed to clear it. The Messi of old would have seen him coming and would have made sure the ball got through. That's what made him who he is. When that didn't come off, he didn't show any kind of trust towards his teammates from there on and tried to do things himself, or pass around harmlessly in midfield. Something's just not right with him, and I hate seeing it.

  2. Yesterday was the biggest game of his life. Might be his only chance to play in a WC final and he was a passenger for over 110 minutes of it.

    Never showed up.

Yup. I thought it was quite upsetting that he didn't even seem to be trying. Germany were there for the taking, and if it wasn't for the ridiculously overrated Higuain's stunning miss, Argentina would have won it at a canter. Messi only seemed to realize this after Germany had scored. That last ditch free-kick was a complete embarrassment IMO, and he showed that it was all about him rather than the team. Instead of going for goal (and then trying to beat Neuer), he should have put it into the box giving the likes of Garay and Demichelis the chance to make something happen.

He's very much up there, but he is NOT better than Maradona or Pele. He's in the second tier along with Cruyff, Zidane etc... He's had a glittering club career, and there's no denying that he's the best living footballer of his generation, but last night was a bitter disappointment from his point of view.

  3. Maxwell on Dutch television saying Brazil was far behind Germany and Holland tactically. Doesn't sounds like he rates Scolari.

Which we were, everyone saw that. Scolari made many errors and relied on Fred, Oscar and Hulk waking up when Neymar went down. To be fair to Scolari though, without him we'd probably not even gone through the group stages. The work Mano was doing was the worst job I've witnessed by anyone, even by Pardew.

How on earth are you putting Fred and Hulk in the same bracket as Oscar? Oscar is a footballer. The other two might as well be lumberjacks brought in from a ranch. Seriously can't get my head around the selection of those two ahead of Bernard, Moura and Coutinho. Could easily have played Neymar centrally and taken a pick from who to play around him. Fred is the worst striker I have ever seen play for a major footballing nation. Ever. Hulk and Jo are the second and third worst. It's painfully baffling to me.

  4. This Brazil side man. It's painful to watch. Amateur hour where every fucker just dribbles the ball into a dead end, rinse and repeat. Utter fucking garbage. Should hopefully get a big earful from the home crowd at full time. Jo, Hulk, Fred? For fuck's sake what a joke. Romario is one of my biggest footballing heroes. These useless knackers are not even from the same planet let alone the same country. Embarrassing.

  5.

Going to be on the bench in uniform apprently. Said it's his choice and he wants to finish what he started with his teammates. Great attitude in my opinion. Could've easily just f***ed off instead of taking all the responsibility that he has in the last few days.

What a guy! What a hero!

Just think that unlike some players and the coaching staff that has gone hiding he has at least gone out and taken on the responsibility to be the face of the failure despite not having been on the pitch. It's a 22 year old who didn't crumble under pressure and carried the side until he was kicked to bits by a Chilean defender. I understand if you're unable to see past your hatred towards the kid though.

I don't hate Neymar at all. I hate the collective wankfest/circus surrounding him. Everything that goes on around him is like some Hollywood story designed to rouse emotions and show him as some sort of messiah. Also, I do think it's a lot easier to "take the blame" when you haven't played in the most embarrassing game in your nation's history due to an impact injury you couldn't do anything about.

As for Neymar the player, I think he's fantastically talented and apart from the odd diving bollocks, he conducts himself really well in general. I do hope though that for his sake and the sake of football, that his career doesn't fizzle out the way Robinho's and Ronaldinho's (in a way) did.

  6. I cannot recall one extraordinary save from Neuer this tournament. Has been very solid and a big part of Germany's tactical deployment as a sweeper, but hardly worthy of the Golden Ball.

 I wouldn't even give him the Golden Glove, for me the Costa Rica GK should get that.

    Tim Howard isn't Costa Rican.

No. But Keylor Navas is  :aww:

  7. Been waiting to see Argentina in the final since '90. How fitting that it's at the Maracana, and against Germany. Messi will turn up. No question in my mind that he will. Will the others around turn up too? Higuain has improved of late but it's still not enough. Same with Lavezzi. Aguero has been dog shit (due to injury most likely). It would be so sweet for Argentina to win this in Rio, and for Messi to finally wear the crown he so richly deserves.

  8. Team sorted for tonight.  Got 9 players playing.

    Yeah, 9

I have 8. Just took the captaincy off Oscar (9 pts) and gave it to Messi. Robben or Messi? ffs. It's so close.

I've got them both too, but I'm leaning towards a defender for captain. Maybe even Cillessen.  The scoring massively favours defenders in this game, especially in a game like this which in theory shouldnt have lots of goals

I know I had Vlaar as my captain in the last round and got some crazy points. My head's telling me to go with him again...
