  1. What are peoples thoughts on David Luiz then? He has always had his critics defensivesly and his defensive faults were certainly on show to the world last night... Can't see ever stepping up to be a top class CB to be honest and I don't think he even wants to play there.. DM maybe another matter however.

Physically and technically he has all the attributes to be a top top player. Mentally, a dung beetle with commitment issues is more suited to playing football at this level than he is at the moment. He still has plenty of time to mature and be coached in the right way.

  2. Brazil deserved this for not playing joga bonito in a World Cup on their home soil!

But jokes aside it's ridiculous how the Brazilians made the game all about Neymar. You would have thought Neymar had just died last match with all the pre match shenanigans. The whole team wearing white caps with his name and holding up his shirt during the national anthem. Embarrassing really. He's 22years old and in his first World Cup ffs.

 this. Utterly cringeworthy. The guy is obviously an outrageous talent, but he's done nothing of substance in the game yet. Holding up the shirt was also disrespectful to any injured player who might or might not have made it to the world cup squad. Embarrassing doesn't even begin to describe it.

The gayest and most cringeworthy thing I have ever seen in football. Worse than the Suarez crap the scousers pulled off.

Cringe but nowhere near as bad as the Suarez sitch.

That was a vague case, where the only evidence real evidence was word against word. This is an injury. They should have held up jerseys for every injured Brazilian who could have theoretically made the team. Drama twats.

  4. This is absolutely hilarious and wonderful. Amateurish rabble getting spanked at home. Hope that Neymar jersey they held up during the anthems is soaked with tears. A bunch of poxy impostors. Hulk is laughably shit, and Fred is beyond laughably shit.

The most enjoyable first half I have seen as a neutral in many many many years. I hope they don't let up in the second half. Utter humiliation please. Maybe they'll learn to stop being such deluded, self-entitled and cringeworthy cheats.

  5. The Dutch played Costa Rica in the quarter finals, you can only beat what's in front of you but them getting further than Belgium doesn't say a great deal.

Was disappointed with Belgium though, them and Argentina are capable of far more expansive football than they showed or have shown so far.

By the same token, Belgium didn't have Spain and Chile to contend with in the group.

  6. Pardon me for not supporting a liar, a fraud and a painfully incompetent "manager" being paid good money to "manage" our football club. GB, you make reference to the OTT comments. I would agree with you if you didn't go one further and preach that he should be given our support. He should be booed and left under no uncertain terms that he's not wanted here. He needs to fuck off sharpish like.

  7. Still can't get over the fact that Tim Krul came on and was the hero of the night..

The substitution could have backfired majorly against LVG and Krul himself. As it were, it ended up being a brilliant thing to see. At least the name of NUFC had some positive impact at this world cup, and it couldn't have come to a more deserving player.

As for his "antics", I have no idea what problem some posters had with it. Also have no idea how it is an aspect of "modern" football? How about in the past when they used kick the f*** out of each other to intimidate the opposition? Now mind games are the problem? f*** off.

I don't think referees should allow keepers to chat up the penalty-taker like that. Krul should have been told to stop.

Worse things happen on the pitch as you say, but there needs to some clarification in the guidance to the laws about what is acceptable.

I'm still pleased for the lad, because he did well for all five pens. He's our keeper and I enjoyed watching his success. But if our team had been the victim, I'd be furious at the inaction of the ref in that situation.

How is it different from defenders chatting up the penalty taker during the game? You see that done ALL THE TIME, and no one ever bats an eye-lid! What about all the swearing and provocation that happens on corners and free-kicks? You'd have to make all that illegal if you are to stop a GK behaving the way Krul did. I don't think he did anything over the top or unsportsmanlike at all. Believe me I absolutely HATE cheating and diving and theatrics. Mind games are completely different. Trying to unnerve an opponent by getting inside their head is nothing like falling over to win a penalty or holding your face to try and get an opponent sent off.

To be completely honest though, I was shouting for him to stop talking to the players so that he doesn't make a fool out of himself if he doesn't save any of the penalties. I fully expected Gonzalez to walk up to him and do the same after dispatching his penalty.

  9. What was Pekerman playing at tonight, by the way? Bringing Ibarbo and Guarin in for Martinez and Aguilar was a stinking move.

Just trying to be clever to try and catch Brazil out?

Also, can anyone tell me what Gutierrez has done to get picked ahead of Ramos/Martinez/Bacca as a lone striker?

Spot on. Aguilar was a big miss. Teo has done fuck all as well. Strange

  10. Amazes me that Evans and Bruce can be so lardy when they are around fitness, exercise and good diets all year round, round like them tbh.

You would like to think it's that simple, but unfortunately it isn't. I'm willing to bet a fair wedge that they are as large as they are precisely because they have attempted "good diets". It's a lot more complicated than that.

  11. Van Dijk  linked as well.  Ashley probably got excited when Graham Carr told him we were going Dutch...  Probably though we only had to pay for half the player.....

I wish!! I could possibly stomach losing MYM if this guy comes in.
