  1. You can tell that things have got better recently because people are having a blazing row about whether or not a the wall should have jumped or not!

Jesus Christ, is it really worth it? It's really unlike Perch not to put his body on the line and you can bet your arse that he'll jump the next time he's in a wall, problem solved, let's move on to things that actually matter in some way, eh?

It really seems as if there's always a negative cloud floating around the place nowadays, that people will never be happy and will always have something to moan about regardless of what's actually happening at the club. If things are going well in their usual pet-hate area then they'll just move onto something else, until they can go back to it later. For example, where are all the people who were saying with absolute conviction that we weren't going to sign anyone in the window and that all our best players were going to leave? They're either keeping quiet for a bit, or have moved on to something else for a bit, but you can guarantee that they'll be back in the summer and regardless of whether or not their predictions of doom come true they'll return once more next xmas. Why put all that effort into being miserable? You'll just get to the end of your life and realise that you didn't enjoy the fleeting moments of good fortune that you'll get as a Newcastle fan because you were too obsessively focussed on the rest. Anyway...

Not sure if anyone else has a more appropriate smily named after them...

    :indi:

  2. You look at Gouff and you see how influential he was, even without the goal he was causing them trouble and helping the team get up and forward. We never get that from Cisse and it's not good enough.

Someone made a Shearer linkage with goal scoring form. Thing is, Alan Shearer was an all-rounder. You could pump it up to him to hold it up or flick it on, he ran the channels, he was an excellent crosser.

Not true man! Cisse took away two markers, and that's what helped Gouffran find the space for his goal.

  3. Funny how people said that Krul's positioning was at fault when Baines, from almost exactly the same position as Bale, leathered it into the top left hand corner at SJP, whilst Bale put it into the bottom right. How can a goalkeeper possibly get his positioning "right" in that scenario? It's not physically possible to stand in one particular position which makes it easy to save any free kick no matter where it's placed or how hard it's hit.

That's why there's a wall there, to make one side much more difficult to put it in with the goalkeeper covering the other. Our wall could have stopped it and failed - everyone laughed at Nasri against Man Utd when he didn't simply move his foot to stop RvP's free kick, Perch was exactly the same. Bale's free kick needed to be something special to get up and down from that position - it wasn't but still did.

I can't believe I'm having to explain this tbh.

I agree. Bale obviously did hit it very sweetly and it had the right dip and swerve to squeeze in the bottom corner. But Perch jumps and he would have blocked it. IIRC half the wall did jump?

  4. Time to lock the relegationometer. I haven't watched it again yet, but on first viewing it looked like a good game between two clubs on the same level. Neither of us played particularly well but both of us were ok, and I thought the result was fair in the end. We suffered a lot for missing a centre-forward in the first half, you suffered a lot for missing Gouffran in the second. There's not a chance in hell of you getting relegated, and thank Christ our games are out of the way, because (a) you are going to f*** a lot of clubs up - I'm looking at Arsenal and Liverpool here (b) In a couple of weeks I will be able to post in here without being told to f*** off. Probably.

At this rate, next season will be an almighty punch-up at the top.

You need to start playing MYM now, though.

 good post. Thanks for not being a dick.

  5. On form HBA>Bale

Scary thing is, plenty on here would probably agree.

So in your eyes, you actually see clear daylight between the two players on top form?

Yes. Love Hatem but Bale's unstoppable on top form. Which he usually is.

I strongly disagree tbh. There's not much difference at all between Bale today and Ben Arfa at WBA last season for example.

I don't like player comparisons in terms of "who is better" anyway. Been having an argument recently with a bunch of people who argue that Gerard is significantly better than Lampard. Absolutely stupid statement imo.

  6. As has been said, the best player on the pitch won the match for them. Can't really complain.

One thing I do hate is delusional Spurs fans piping up again with the most hysterical rubbish spouted by any football fans anywhere. Far far worse than any Liverpool fans I have ever come across.

Here's a couple of texts I received from one of them:

"Holtby was majestic, 10 times the player Arfa is. Lennon and Parker should b heart of england. Bale is god. We fkng buried u take that u t***s.

"And wats with all the hacking of our players. ur fkng disgusting. are u stoke?"

And you associate with these people?

Opponents in Monday night 5-a-side :anguish:

  8. Plus ours was the battle for 7th, we finished 5th. That one appears to be based on Liverpool need to do to win the league title...

I might start a battle for the Champions League stats based thread.

We've won 100% of our home and away matches since we signed Sissoko, as well as 100% of our matches against shitty nothing clubs and 100% of our matches against megarich cuntish clubs. Keep that up and Spurs need 24 points from 39, and they drew against QPR recently.

  9. This is the reason we send players out on loan. I hope he comes back next season with more nous and a better physical presence. Really excited to see him part of our squad.
