  1. So much for promoting football in Shanghai/China...that's Drogba and Anelka gone within a year.

Mind you I'm not really surprised.

Pretty sure they knew beforehand they wouldn't last any longer tbh. Go there for a few months, collect a massive pay packet and f*** off. Probably got bored shitless.

  2. Dafuq just happened? Why did the site suddenly point to facebook?

    You clicked the Facebook button?

Nope. Was reading a thread, then noticed the "Go" button had disappeared. Went back to the top and clicked "Football" and it took me to facebook. Closed Chrome and reopened, and still did it another time. A few attempts later and i'm good.

  3. Reeks of an agent trying to fish out clubs with money to spare. We've shown we can close deals fast lately, and we're pretty much the most active club this window. Link a player with us and people tend to believe it.

  4. I thought I would have a little break from Purple WeekTM and have a boring Saturday but there's no end to transfer news. Not that I'm complaining.

Between him now and PEA in the summer, who would people rather have though? Bony screams 442 while PEA screams 433 for sure.

To be honest I don't give a shit about formations. We shouldn't be buying players based on a formation on paper. As long as we have a blueprint (purpleprint?) as to how we like to play, as long as the coaching is geared towards it throughout all levels of first team/squad/reserves etc., as long as the importance of team spirit and dressing room harmony is given the attention it deserves, as long as we sign players who are real professionals who don't tarnish the club's name - I couldn't care less what formation we play.

In an ideal world we'll have a large enough pool of players in a variety where by the manager can pick and choose according to the available options (injuries/suspensions/afcon), go out there and genuinely try to win any given game. If we can afford Bony's transfer fee and wages, and remain within our budget, then I say bring him in. Lose Tiote in the summer? Go after PEA.

  5. "I'm hoping it's too early for them, and that Sammy (Ameobi), Shane Ferguson, James Tavernier and Adam Campbell come through. They need to, because we can't keep buying players.

Puzzles me how Campbell has been in every training picture for the whole season, been bigged up by Pardew and was impressive when given the chance in pre-season.

Yet Nile f***ing Ranger has been getting game time ahead of him. The same goes for Sammy Ameobi as of late, I'd rather see this lad given a chance.

Needs game time as he's turned 18 now and should be sent on loan.

Percentage football. Ranger gets thrown on to hold the ball up.

  6. What's this I heard about Coutinho to Liverpool? Heard it last night off a mate who is a supporter.

They were talking about it on here a few days ago. Southampton then bid more, but the player is supposed to prefer Liverpool.

Cheers  Must have missed that in all the hullaballoo as I'm sure you'll understand  :laugh2:

Not sure he is someone they need? Are they hoping they get out of him what they couldn't get out of Sahin? Know very little about Coutinho to be honest.

  7. Just spoke to a recruitment consultant on the phone who was clearly French, took all my restraint not to ask him what he thought of Newcastle!

Ran into a load of French navy sailors who are in town and come into my shop. It was so difficult resisting to do the same. Wanted to know who supported who, and what they thought of our new recruits. Desperately turned over my phone which is in a cover with our badge lasered into it. No one seemed to recognize it or give a f***ing toss.

    Oh aye?  :naughty:

Aye. A boat load of Cabayes man I tell ye. Literally. Uniforms all neatly pressed and not a speck of dust anywhere. Those handsome fucks.
