I look at Steve Bruce and feel immense pride that AP is our manager.

How good is his English these days?
I can imagine him having a conversation with the ref:
Colo "Hey, why is penilty?"
Ref "You cut him right down Colo, it's a stonewall"
Colo "jejejeje, yes i know the macarena"
-
Should be wearing the armband, IMO.
Yup. Leads by example. If his english is good enough, he should be our captain no doubt.

The ticker jumps everytime this thread is bumped
:colo: love you Colo

Good move by the club. Hopefully it was a footballing decision and not a financial one. We need to see what this lad can do for the team.
-
Best of luck Chris Hughton
Couldn't have gone to a more detestable club, but I wish him well all the same.
-
We let him shag our wives then do a quick one on us? Me thinks not! Must keep unless the bid is huge (upward of 12m).

No offense to brummie, but I really can't see how the villa fans will spin this in their own minds, so as to come to terms with and accept McLeish.
Truly is comedy gold. Sob on the Tyne eh? Enjoy the downfall you spiteful bastards

Again, if we're replacing him with better, then why not? However, in the particular case of Leon Best, we would need to see the "better" striker arrive first before feeling alright about selling him. Best showed glimpses last season that he can be a real powerhouse in this league if he takes it seriously and works hard on his own fitness and sharpness.
To be honest though, I find it quite unbelievable that Best would be sold ahead of Ameobi or Lovenkrands. Non-starter imo.
-
Anyone at the club who believes he needs selling before he gets in to his 30's is a absolute mongoloid! He can be the foundations of a great defensive backline for a good 3 years or more. Its not as if his game is built around pace and athleticism.
Absolutely spot on. Surely the board and manager can differentiate between a 30 yr old attacker's value to the club, and a fit, ever-present 30 yr old ball-playing center-half. Would be absolute madness to sell a player of his calibre. He is also an international name, and surely part of the pull to the club.

f*** Nolan. That interview he gave to that scouse c*** TV station was worthy of him getting the tin-tac alone.
Cabaye in - Nolan out.
I can live with that. If the t*** see's WHU in the Championship as a better alternative to NUFC then let the f***er go.
For some reason I find myself agreeing with these sentiments.

He seems to have dissapointed since his move to PSG. I seem to recall nufc signing a similar style pacy striker a few years back under similar circumstances having dissapointed at Coventry after looking promising at Norwich and he did ok in black and white.
Nufc signed a quality pacy left winger that close season too - could be some similarities with N Zogbia there as well
That pacy striker and left winger kicked the team on the next season - you never know it just may happen again !
Excellent post

I was just speaking to a mate who supports PSG. He is expecting gameiro to come to them as they apparently have 140m to invest in players over the next 3 years. On the subject of erding he said he would happily drive him to Newcastle. Had quite a good year last year apparently but he doesn't rate him, can't head a ball, is moderately quick, not very good at finishing is the description I got.
:omg:

Totally, this is one area where football could learn something from normal business. Don't give vast sums of money to people who don't do anything.
Yup. Rather re-structure deals whereby the club's scouts are paid a handsome reward if they unearth a gem, as well as the agent of said gem. Not sure if this would lead to legal wrangles, but if you set up watertight contracts, it shouldn't be a problem. In the case of Ba, we didn't really need a scout or an agent to have an interest in signing him, and therefore shouldn't pay over the odds.

Aren't QPR owned by Qataris or Arabs as well? Youd think they had a bit more to hoy around.
Neither. It's the Mittal family with Flava Flave Briatore as their sidekick I believe.
Technically the richest club in world football until Man City was bought by the entire State of Abu Dhabi

I'd never have Gutierrez off the wing tbh. He needs space to operate and would be crowded out in the middle. He's not technically brilliant so there's no use having him anywhere other than up and down the wing, where his primary attributes can be used to better effect. IE stamina, pace and determination. I think he'd be completely ineffectual in the middle cos there'd be a man on his tail as soon as he retrieved the ball. Could see him surrendering possession quite frequently.
Pretty much agree with this. Jonas is more of a threat running at players - the wing is pretty much the only place where he can do this effectively, like you've said.
Kieron Dyer? Did he have more about him than Jonas does in terms of how they play? I reckon Dyer had more pace, but I see them as very similar players.

Earlier on this afternoon before any press reports came out a lad on toontastic said his mate seen Demba Ba and Nigel Reo Coker come out of the ground.
So there might be something in it!
If he's here as a squad player to replace Smith, run around a bit and have a bit of energy and show commitment to the club, I'd have no problems with him whatsoever.
