I reckon the simplistic explanation is the most likely.
Their bid didnt match our asking price and you dont announce you turned down a 100m bid for the club (because the price is really 250m) as it would probably cause a riot.

Really pisses me off Ashley didn't just hold his hands up at the end of the season, apologize and promise to get us straight back up. Instead the snivelling b****** does a runner leaving us in the s***. Well a runner would be nice, it's more like a roll along.
Really do believe if he had taken Shearer on FT and gave him some money (nothing flash, just enough to manoeuvre) to rearrange the club we'd be nailed on to come straight back up and Ashley to receive the clubs full worth next year when were back in the prem if he wanted to sell. Seems Etoo is as good as a go to Inter and Zlatan the opposite way, don't know who really has a win in this one.
Etoo with Motta, Cambiasso, Stankovic, Muntari is not the same as in front of Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Yaya etc, and Zlatan can easily vanish in Barca's star team.

The Profitable Group are probably chancers. It all just doesn't add up, non-disclosure agreements etc. I know people have been saying that they don't prevent you from discussing generic issues.
