    sweet connection

Absolutely top class finish that one. Shearer would have been proud of all 3 goals last night.

  3. He's looked s*** full stop for a while now.

The problem is that for however much he doesn't use his pace properly etc etc, his mere presence worries defenders. Without him the threat is almost non-existant.

    f***'s sake.

He did look noticeably uncomfortable moving around the pitch at Anfield. Looked to have a slight hobble throughout, so there could be something in this injury tbh.

  6. One of the greatest footballers of our time, a geordie, and someone who loves the city and the club. Lets have a pop at him though.

He's clearly screwed himself up on booze and drugs long term, as he did not have the sort of mind that could cope with being one of the first mega-celebrity footballers in modern years. When "Gazzamania" struck, he was the only nationwide footballing name. Now there about 20 or so players whose names are known nationwide by non-football people. The only other person who got that level of individual celebrity attention in football was George Best.

Fair play for trying to sort himself out.

No doubting everything you're saying, it just irks people that he's let himself go the way he has. He could have been a role model for generations to come. I met him twice and chatted to him. First time he was polite and friendly (playing for Rangers), and the second time he was a total fuck-egg (post boro days). Around the parts where I live he's been known to pass out in his own drool in clubs and bars, and that's what he's best known for here.

  7.

Going doooooooooooooooooooooooown in a blaze of glory  :colo:

that was my first thought actually, but it's inaccurate 'cause if we down it'll almost certainly NOT be in a blaze of glory :kinnear:

But at least it would be a rallying call to go doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooown in a blaze of gloreh in the last few games

  8. thread led me to read about him on wiki where i was reminded of

"In 2004 he stated that he wished to be referred to as G8, combining his initial and his playing number."

    f***ing hell

 nowt more to expect really from someone with a septic tank for a  brain

  9. Hard to see Barca winning, unfortunately.

Much as I love the Barca approach to the game in theory, against truly top class defensive units it just isn't effective. Against lesser sides their sheer ability on the ball shines through and they can carve teams open at will, but when faced with a quality defensive unit like Chelsea, or Man United in last years semi, there just isn't the room to play their way through.

I hope they bring in a center forward of some sort in the summer, someone that gives them the option to be just that little bit more direct when they come up against really good defensive sides. Someone who plays well with his back to goal and can bring runners into the game and even provide some sort of threat in the air on crosses. It doesn't have to be some sort of Drogba-esque colossus either, so it's not like they'll need to change their game that radically. Adding Ribery, which has been rumoured, won't really make them any more effective in my opinion, though it'll certainly be fun to watch.

Man U will just stick everyone bar Ronaldo behind the ball and defend all day, then do them on the counter attack. Only hope for this game is for Barca to score an early goal with a bit of magic from somewhere, if that happens it'll be an awesome game.

    3-1 Man U.

You're right that a centre forward in that role would give them an extra dimension, but isn't it a bit premature to say their style isn't effective? They're on course to win La Liga and are in the final of the Champions League. Should they beat Man Utd, you'd have to hold your hands up and say it is indeed effective. You could say this is their true test, but the same could be said of Man Utd. On paper, it's a great matchup, a clash of the titans. I just hope they don't show each other too much respect, as Man Utd and Chelsea did last May.

I think it's too close to call, but I'm surprised why people have Man Utd down as such strong favourites.

Probably due to Barcelona's defensive absences coupled with Man U's on form attackers in Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs and Park Ji Sung.

  10. Funny note, we should have had the same decision when Heskey was fouled outside the box when we played Wigan away.

    similar wasnt it?

Nah, it was actually a lot worse. Heskey started going down five yards outside of the box and then slowly dragged himself inside for what felt like about five seconds.

more like 5 furlongs outside the box the galloping fuck-egg

  12. 10am? 10 a f***ing m!?!? The way the 'club insider' was going on about the new rules I fully expected Shearer to have demanded them to all be in at the crack of sunrise and not a second later. 10am ffs!!!

Sounds like you're bout to pop a vein in your forehead, or a hernia or summat!! chillll winston chilll baby
