I give up trying to understand this season to be honest. Howe has shown previously that he’s a a problem solver and, in time, he can resolve issues and get the team playing well in his system. He often goes on long winning runs and these have propelled us into the CL places twice in three seasons. It’s patently not happening this season and we look laboured and bereft of ideas. At the same time we could very easily have 9 points from the last three games. We would only have needed a sliver of luck. I’m none the wiser about where we are so I’m just going to shut up and let him get on with it 😀 Hopefully we are looking at a couple of players in the window to freshen up the squad.

Feel more secure with him in between the sticks.

True, I stood on the Scoreboard and watched out 1/2 billion pound team bravely succumb to Notts County. Nothing like we’re suffering now.

Some scouting? Thiaw walks off the Milan bench and becomes our best player. Most people could see the business we’d done previously on the continent and were perplexed that we were chasing overpriced PL players.

The same conversations around Woltemade/Wissa that are being had with the wide players. No matter who starts it’s get the replacement on at half time. This lad already has 7 PL goals, Wissa is just back from injury but apart from his ‘Johnny on the spot’ goal in the LC he hasn’t even looked like scoring yet. Bad times.

I admire your optimism and in truth there’s nothing that an 8 or 9 game winning run wouldn’t sort out in terms of a European challenge but can you really see us winning 8 or 9 in a row?

Second half was, we can’t ignore another 45 min performance. First 45 was amongst the worst this season in a crowded field.

I think Howe should have the rest of this season, he surely deserves that. I just don't think he can turn things round now with these players where as up until now I always thought he was a problem solver. He’s not learning anything week to week.

Burned through his credit for me. It’s the lack of a plan, then the lack of a plan B, the formulaic substitutions, the lack of in game management and the disastrous summer window which gave us Ramsey and Elanga. Always thought it was just a matter of time before things clicked but it’s been 6 months.

As I’ve said previously every game is get Barnes/Gordon/Murphy/Elanga off at HT and get Barnes/Gordon/Murphy/Elanga on, doesn’t matter who starts we are poor. Barnes has been more productive than Gordon this season generally.

Been saying for weeks the midfield is the problem. They offer no protection to tge defence, just three nominal number 8s chasing the ball, no structure, no one seems to know their job anymore.
