Arsenal fans have an inflated opinion about the size of their club. In the PL era their best players (Henry, Bergkamp, Viera) were rescued from the bench/sub-par stints in Serie A. When have Arsenal ever went out and bought the best in class (or very close) striker or midfielder? They don’t have that pull. Isak is a pipe dream and something they would discount if they actually thought about it for 5 minutes.

This lot get a bit of an easy ride in some quarters because they aren’t one of the ‘Red cartel’ but they are very much their enthusiastic bedfellows and anti-PIF takeover agitators. Nothing against Spurs fans, I’ve worked with loads over the years and they tend to be just as fatalistic as us but the PL was built for Spurs and the other members of the original ‘Big 5’ in order to maximise the profits and influence. Spurs, vis-à-vis their disappointing footballing performance have , pound for pound, benefited the most, with Levy turning them into a financial powerhouse alongside the other ESL conspirators. Anyway a long post to say get the fuck out of here Ange with the ‘Newcastle are refereed differently’ comments when your club has gained every advantage possible, at the expense of the non- ‘Big 6’ clubs, over the last couple of decades.

I’d love to see us fly out of the blocks for 20 mins and see if we can grab a couple of goals. It might be better to be more measured though and see if we can pick them apart.

Manchester United have only won two titles (1907/08 1910/11) that weren’t won by Matt Busby or Alex Ferguson. Won’t affect tonight’s result like but an interesting fact….

Yeah it’s feeling a bit like pre-West Ham. I hope we aren’t over confident and that we are aggressive from the kickoff. We should dominate a midfield of Eriksen and Casemiro.

Love to see him driving forward with the ball at SJP with the crowd noise going up several notches. One of my favourite things about this current team.

He’s certainly lively, looks like an ‘on the defender’s shoulder’ type of player and he appears to be very rapid. He’s obviously desperate to do well. Wish we could give him more time to settle into games as the 5 min cameos can be quite frustrating.

Another clean sheet for the Tonali led defensive midfield bulwark. Howe certainly solved the midfield structure now for certain.

I genuinely thought Tino had the higher ceiling but this kid is everywhere at the moment. He’s the archetypal modern full back.
