We offered €50m which is around £42m on deadline day apparently. Unlike Diego Carlos who will be 29 and will have 1 year left on his contract, Botman has just turned 22 and still has three years left on his contract (2025). I can't see Lille taking any less than €50m and if we were willing to offer that in January, Lille won't take lower as they are in a much stronger position compared to Seville. I wouldn't pay our Jan valuation of Diego Carlos.

Koulibaly will be 31 in the summer and apparently will sign a new contract extension with Napoli. When we were linked with him back in November his agents said they weren't too keen. 31 is also on the older side for a defender who relies heavily on his physical attributes. He's not wily like Thiago Silva (Chelsea).

I'd avoid anyone over 30 (unless they're cheap) as we'll be paying a premium already and there will be no resale value if they flop. Also the best players around this age want trophies/ European football.

In terms of Botman the difference could be that he's said he is leaving in the summer and that's something he will push for, which he wasn't willing to do in January

  2. A point isn't disastrous, would put us 2 points ahead of Norwich with a game in hand

Plus a point means the unbeaten run continues and 9 points from a possible 15 is not to be sniffed at, however this is a huge opportunity to get a win as that would be massive. Not only in putting us more than a win clear of the bottom 3 it would also dent their confidence

Why are people concerned about goal difference between us and Norwich? We're -20, Norwich -35

Not bothered about GD as ours will likely remain better than theirs, just would be good to demoralise them

Plus they have Liverpool away next so back to back hammerings could destroy their confidence

Want this to be a game where once the first goal goes in, the flood gates open and takes all their momentum and confidence with it.

Might just be nerves but I can see Norwich taking the lead and then holding on

    Decent start from norwich

Yeah, some sloppy play from Man-City, though Silva was a whisker away from giving them the lead

I'm worried Norwich are going to get something from this game

  6. Not overly concerned about Everton, Brentford, Leeds etc.

Just finish top of the 4 team mini league and that's all that matters. So those are the results we need to go in our favour.

So far Watford have lost so that's good, need Norwich and Burnley to lose too.

Wtf I had to Google that as was convinced it was wrong. He was managing Norwich in the Premier about 10 years ago man

I had to Google it too as it is hard to believe

He was 34 when he was managing Norwich in the Premier League, impressive achievement but he looked in his 40's then

We need 6 wins and a couple of draws from 16 games, looks achievable based on improvements and getting better by the week. We will piss it

I'd be surprised if we need another 20 points, think it will take less to stay up

Just seen the Martinelli red. 100% seems the correct decision to me.

Some outrageous claims and dubious interpretations of the situation from Arsenal fans. Trying to say he shouldn’t have been sent off.

Yeah, just heard Keown say the ref was pedantic but I agree with you, I have no issue with the decision

  10. On the subject of who plays

I'd definitely start Bruno, wouldn't be dropping Fraser as him and Trippier have a decent little partnership going

You can make a case for any one of Shelvey/Joelinton/Willock missing out

RTG is a hoot right now.

Their new fantastic owner who's just recently stopped growing pubes "KLD" - "is finished here now" according to one poster.

Loads saying "I'm done". Arguing and infighting and ITKs being outed as bullshitters.

Surely not, I'm sure not long ago they convinced themselves that they'd rather be owned by KLD and his "billions" and keep their "classy morals" instead of our bloody money

  12. I think he could work as part of a midfield 3 if we had say Bruno/Joelinton as the two behind him, so we would have to play as a 4-2-3-1 however I don't see Howe changing to that, certainly not for him

There is definitely a player there, we say that under Rafa but a combination of being fairly rigid in terms of position and being Bruce'd has set him back massively

Ultimately if we stay up then we need to be looking to upgrade everywhere on the pitch except for Bruno, ASM and Trippier

Aye, was a beautiful result yesterday for Southampton. Hope Tottenham crash and burn, sinking under their debt. If they don’t make champions league I can’t see Conte sticking around and can see them losing their status as one of the big boys

Whilst I see the appeal in that if Spurs don't make top 4 then I think it will mean Man-U do and I'd much rather see Man-U/Ronaldo finish in a Europa League spot

  14. ASM is superb, he will frustrate but players that try things will do that. When I say frustrate I mean frustrate some people, personally I have no issues with him and his approach

Take the match yesterday for example and the following stats

ASM, 10 dribbles completed from 13 attempted with 5 chances created

Fraser, 0 dribbles completed from 0 attempted with 0 chances created (Btw I'm not having a go at Fraser as he played well and scored)

With ASM because of the way he plays and he tries things from an attacking sense he will get things wrong, Messi loses the ball more than most but you have to accept that is inevitable. It's similar to the grief Ben Arfa used to get, meanwhile Obertan/Gouffran would run to the full back and then pass it backwards, they didn't lose the ball and in the eyes of some doylems they were "better" to have in the team

Others have probably mentioned this already but I was sat right behind the gallowgate goal and he literally picked our players up out of the goal after Everton scored. You could see him willing the team to victory throughout the whole game. He's a really special player, the most important signing we've made in god knows how long.

Yeah, I mentioned that earlier as it's something I immediately noticed too

Lascelles had head in hands, Targett and Schar were on the floor feeling sorry for themselves whereas Trippier immediately grabbed the ball and then got the pair of them up
