He can pop up anywhere

As a spectator maybe but if you're supporting or playing for a team involved a red card is justice. And a red card for the bigger team can make it a more entertaining game
-
Why should the team that have committed a red card offence be in any way allowed to still have 11 players on the pitch still? Jack Grealish gets sent off for Man City but they're allowed to bring Kevin de Bruyne on and still have 11 men on the pitch- how is that anywhere close to being fair
-
So Newcastle are playing Man Utd in a cup final. Fernandes breaks Isak's leg as he's through on goal and he's given a red card but can continue playing the game. Isak is stretchered off injured. Fernandes then goes on to score the winning goal in the last minute. You'd be happy with that situation because Fernandes will get a ban in upcoming games?
-
Horrendous In that world players can do as many leg breaking tackles as they want in a match knowing they won't get sent off. Where's the fairness in that?

Referees are full time in the the Premier League and Championship They don't have other jobs I'm pretty certain they'll be training a lot more than 1 day a week No idea where you're getting this stuff from
-
I really don't think it's largely down to their own making. They're just doing their job. I think it's a lot easier said than done to say that they should stand up more to a load of men surrounding screaming at them that they've made the wrong decision especially when they've made the right one. It's hard enough to referee a game of football anyway. There's probably an argument to be made that the FA should retrospectively punish teams and players for surrounding refs. But I think you're severely overestimating how one man in a high pressure environment is expected to do his job and contend with a bunch of men having a go at him for every decision he's making We'll run out of referees one day because it's not worth the abuse that they get every week.
-
I watched a clip of Villa vs Newcastle from a few years ago and completely forgot yous had Ross Barkley for a season
-
I've never openly heard referees or former referees talking about 'protecting the product', are there any examples of this? There's always supicions obviously but I'm surprised if any have openly admitted to that being the case
-
I was more focussed on the worrying parts that referees have been asking for it. How have they been asking for it?
-
I think it's worrying that some in this thread feel like the refs have 'had it coming' when it comes to the Mitro red card. Even more so that the ref made the completely correct decision. Even if he hadn't, you can't be handling the ref

Women's hormones going to be all over the shop with him in charge, the handsome bastard

This is dangerous nonsense

I do wonder if we've overcomplicated his game to get him to fit into our style of play
-
"Great argument you put across."

Okay I'll bite: Howe doesn't make half time substitutions when the game is in the balance He'd just been involved in our goal Howe moved him up front to avoid straining the hamstring further but Howe said he felt he was still being effective in the game so didn't want to take him off We know ASM is always picking up injuries What's your argument based on?
-
Think you need to work on your chat up lines

Christ

Apart from Longstaff in the cup final I can barely remember Howe taking off someone at half time. And that was because we were 2 down We sat through about a dozen lacklustre performances from Wilson yet he didn't get taken off
-
The sake of the team that just scored with ASM heavily involved? Or because he was genuinely injured?
-
Well no but all the conspiracies only seem to come out with ASM. It's very rare Howe makes half time changes unless he absolutely has to.
-
You think our manager was lying about his injury despite ASM having a key contribution to the goal and Howe said himself he was being effective
-
Of course
