I like the guy who's top-scoring so far this week. He obviously built a team based on last season and gave up as soon as he started - has Ighalo on the bench, Van Dijk at CB - but lucked into a big score because he has Fuchs, Mahrez, Vardy, Townsend, Firmino, Andre Gray...and Tadic as captain . Even has Wijnaldum ready to come on as sub.

My fantasy football curse is relentless. Just wondering who to pick up next.

We're OK, but not great. Might be interesting if Marcus Edwards is playing, he's shit-hot, but the rest of the team are just that, a good team without any outstanding individuals. Edwards is training with the first team, and hasn't played with the U18s for a year, but he's been out with injury, and they might want to give him a run-out. We're really beginning to see the fruits of Chelsea and Man City having a shit-ton of money and finally spending a ton of it on youth over the last few years - they are running away with the North & South U18 leagues. Whoever wins out of us two will get Chelsea in the semis IIRC.

I refer you to my post quoted above.

21 shots to three. Guaranteed breakaway goal coming up.

We're fucking cursed this year.

I'm not sure you can call it a fluke It really was. I mean, an amazing achievement, but every rub of the green went their way. Fluke: "unlikely chance occurrence, especially a surprising piece of luck". It definitely wasn't entirely down to chance, but there were several surprising pieces of luck. Anyway, to HTT's disillusionment, it's a tough one to an extent. There's a balance between the bigger picture and what your team/club is doing. I am almost totally disillusioned with top level football but since we're doing really well at the moment on and off the pitch it's easier to stomach. I do miss some of the best aspects of football because I no longer live in North London, but I also miss some of the worst aspects because I'm physically detached. The interesting part will be if you are still so disillusioned when Mike Ashley buggers off and you have a good team again.

Might still do it but I'd want to keep 3 that aren't available at all (Sanchez, Valencia and Sterling). Yeah, I didn't really have much of a choice. Pretty much all my team were duffers, plus I had Jesus.

Rolled out the wildcard this week, plus grabbed Mane to see if my curse still has legs.
-
Nonsense. Agreed every time i've seen him play he's been class. Excellent technique there was a assist towards the end of last season that springs to mind. Rumour is that we're very interested.

Looks like they did it so they could grow rapeseed.

They were already immortalized . You're not that young, are you? Wait, Holy shit, that was nearly thirty years ago.

If they didn't you'd be saying "s*** away support" . Reckon you'll let Trippier leave in the summer? Put in some really good performances when he's played this season from what I've seen but can't see him ever getting past Walker and imagine he'll have quite a few Prem teams after him in the summer offering him first team football I hope not. I really like him, both on and off the pitch, and he's about as good a backup fullback as you're likely to get. Youngish too. He's a much better fit for our system than Davies on the other side. My dream would be to get Ryan Sessegnon as backup for Rose - our fullbacks would be awesome. We've got a kid coming through who initially looked like the dog's bollocks, but has tailed off a bit. Brilliantly, his name is Kyle Walker-Peters. If he actually makes the step up (we just gave him a new contract) then I could definitely see us shifting Trippier, but the way the Premier League is now you really need two players for each position plus a developing youth player. I hope we keep Trippier. Poch loves him, and the main reason he has been so sparingly used this year is that he had a kid, and apparently was sleep-deprived. We're in that no-man's land in the Premier League. We're good enough to need backups who are top tier, but can't afford to pay many first choice players top tier wages, let alone the backups. We have to try to create a team spirit such that players like Trippier, Davies, Janssen, Sissoko etc - the guys who will probably always be second choice - are happy to be a part of things, getting games in the cups and covering for injury. I think that having Trippier around has put a lot of pressure on Kyle Walker, and he has unequivocally risen to the challenge. I'd like to think that Trippier is happy in his current position, thanks in large part to Poch, but he can't work miracles. Edit: Apologies to Karren Brady, I said that Trippier had had a kid, when clearly he had done fuck all to contribute.

How is this still 1-0?
-
Nah, I had transferred him into my FF team two weeks ago. He's done.

I think some of the confusion comes from the fact that in the past the refs have got together to decide to interpret "deliberate" in slightly different ways - that's why we got the "unnatural position" stuff. The law has always been pretty simple.
-
Wasn't deliberate, was it? but he clearly gained a major advantage from it, does he score the goal without the hand ball? But thats not the law. In my opinion it should be though, removes all doubt about the current interpretations Yes. And perhaps more importantly, it means that you can't score a goal with your hand like that . Impartiality at its best, I'm sure. Only the best impartiality here .

Who should be in the lead now?

Don't know if this is true, and can't be bothered to check, but here: Since 1 November 2016, West Ham have played 8 games at the OS. They have scored 7 goals in that time. Since 1 January 2017, Manchester City have played 2 games at the OS. They have scored 9 goals in that time.

Arsenal spedn £25m p/a less on wages than Man Utd/Chelsea. That's a Kante, Costa & Hazard salaries away from competing. Can they afford to spend that extra though, that was the point wasn't it ? 2014-15 Deloitte has: Man U - Revenue 395M Wages 204M (52%) Man C - 353M, 194M, 55% Arsenal - 331M, 192M, 58% Chelsea - 319M, 217M, 68% Liverpool - 298M, 167M, 56% Spurs - 196M, 107M, 55% Their spending on wages as a percentage of revenue falls in line with most other top clubs - if anything, it's slightly more than their peers. Of course, you could always argue that they could spend more, but I don't think that's a fair stick to beat them with. Wenger has spent shit-loads of money on players, he just hasn't always made the right decisions.
