Well we know that . The point is that Team X and Team Y both had 300M or whatever to spend, you can't then say Team Y are plucky underdogs because they fucked up how to spend it.

Apart from Pogba I'm not sure I'd argue with that, although I suppose part of the reason he's in is that there aren't too many outstanding CMs. I think Vertonghen should be in instead of LaPorte though. I'd probably try to shoehorn Hazard in instead of Pogba. The only other player with any doubt attached is Aguero, although there are probably four or five players at a similar level at CF and you may as well choose him.

I think this is the key difference. I'm older, and grew up surrounded by the fuckers. Non-Liverpool fans my age really hate the fuckers, and have been nursing that hate for decades.

For some reason I imagine Gallowgate as Cartman singing "Kyle's Mom is a big fat bitch" only instead it's "Eddie Howe is a Fucking Fraud, he's the biggest fraud in the whole wide world...etc..."

Who are the pundits they have on air? Carragher for Liverpool, then is it Gary Neville for Man U? Who’s on for Man City? Genuine question (not a facetious one yet). They have Joe Hart in the studio Cheers. Bit surprised it’s Hart tbh - is he any good? Only as long as the person he's speaking to isn't down to his left. Wahey!

I'd rather be bored than physically sick .

Superb defender but can’t cope passing under pressure. Why isn’t stones playing? Superb passer but can't cope defending under pressure?
-
Absolutely, although it rather glosses over the fact that Man U are in third. It's clearly an approach that works, and the top managers all instruct their teams in how to do it.
-
Fuck you Brighton, you time wasting bastards. (Sorry Chris).

I'll moderately disagree, they may be fucking things up right now but they are still a money making machine and can become competitive again with some smart decisions. Liverpools problem is iirc they didn't market the club as well as man utd late 80's early 90's so were always playing catch up to man utds ridiculous commercial income. Liverpool’s bigger problem, along with Arsenal, is that Chelsea and then Man City suddenly magically had hundreds of billions to play with. It’s no coincidence that Arsenal’s titles dried up as soon as Abramovich came along.

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, if you’ve got the sort of money Man U, Chelsea etc have then your margin for error is greater. It’s only a matter of time before you appoint a decent manager who can build something with the 200M or whatever they can spend each year. Liverpool did it eventually, Man City did it eventually, Chelsea have done it in the past and will do so again. The only issue is that you have to worry about the other clubs around you. Man U’s income is such that they’ll never be “just another club”. The most we can hope is that they will stay as just another Top Six club.

Utter shite so far, but at least everyone has a second game to make amends. Pity McArthur won’t get off the bench, mind.
-
You know, I think that if you’d told me today’s results a couple of days ago i’d have happily taken a narrow loss to Man City. Top 4 and Liverpool not winning the title suits me fine.
-
Just checking, but did you play your Wild Card this week? If so then it won’t let you play the Bench boost as well.
-
This is not going to be pretty. Basically five centre-backs - plus one guy who often fills in there - and four attacking midfielders. And the bench is kids and oldies/past-its. Oof.

Is it wrong that I wanted tears?

I'm chuffed too .

I’m genuinely surprised so many of you guys seem to think we’ll get to the final. Ajax look shit-hot, and we won’t have Kane at all, or Son for the first leg. I’m buzzing that we got through but Son missing is a massive blow.
-
I’d they get to the final. They will conspire to lose. Still no trust in Tottenham’s mettle. Look, sooner or later we are going to go out of the CL and then you'll get to talk about Spursiness, ignoring the preceding months. And let's say it's in the next round, against arguably the most exciting team in Europe, with no Kane, Son missing the first leg, and probably a couple more critical injuries. Or as you suggest, maybe we get to the final, against one of the other four or five best teams in the world in Liverpool or Barca, and then lose. But it will be our mettle that's the problem. Stop.
