It’s quite clearly utter bollocks . Guess we’re at that point in the window though.

Isn’t Craig Hope one of yours? We’re all laughing at this “article” on Spurscommunity.
  3. Don’t you just wish you could still take drugs like you did when you were younger, Ian.
  4. That’s exactly what I thought. It’s like every liberal/left-wing podcast ever when talking about any of the million right-wing grifters out there. They realise/point out how much money they could make if they had no morals or shame.
  5. Well I can see why you don’t understand it then Think, man, you’re a prophet after all! There’s a bit more to it than that. It‘s too early to say tbh, particularly after the Marinakis/MGW nonsense. Fully expect Chelsea and Arsenal to come in with a wodge of cash but it does seem like he wants to come to us so we can probably ask why. The pros you give aren’t Spurs-specific - the same would apply to Arsenal or Newcastle. The cons presumably are just asking why he wouldn’t wait a year? The only teams likely to play CL on a regular basis right now are Liverpool, Arsenal and City - or teams abroad - and the same teams would be the only ones with more chance of winning regular silverware (arguably that would bring Chelsea into it). So why Spurs? Well we want him for starters, and we have done for a while. Why Spurs over Crystal Palace? More chance of regular Europe, more chance of silverware, better wages, better training facilities, better ground, North London, fans not Stripey Nigels. He might feel it gives him a better chance of getting into the World Cup team (not convinced myself), might want to play with some specific players, might really rate Thomas Frank and his plans, although Glasner seems class. I still think that if Arsenal or Chelsea come in hard with the cash he might go there, sure, but…it seems like they haven’t. So presumably the bit you don’t understand is why he doesn’t wait in the hopes somebody comes in either now or in January. Well a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, he’s more likely to be first choice, God only knows what Chelsea’s plans actually are, Arteta is a weirdo arsehole, one set of fans are glory-hunting plastics and the other are a Venn diagram of glory-hunting plastics, terminally-online children and utter cunts. And you know, Spurs are quite a big, successful club that a lot of players - and managers - would like to play for. We just are. So are you guys. It’s OK to accept that.
  6. What do you see as the pros and cons?
  7. I know he only played 20 mins, but how did he do?
  8. Understandably, you can swap Arsenal and Sunderland for me. Added bonus of one of those three having to deal with the playoffs on the way back up and a chance they don’t make it.
  9. Heard more than one person say that was his best performance for us, and I think there’s a solid argument for that. It was Burnley at home tbf. Still, he was terrific both on and off the ball and heavily involved in all the goals. Frankly, I think before PSG the majority of fans would have been happy to sell him. He seems like a lovely guy and gives his all but he’s made of crisps. He wears his heart on his sleeve but all his limitations as well. You never totally feel like he’s knows what he’s doing, a very hard worker but not as natural a footballer as some. And yet. If Frank can use rotation to keep him upright, who knows? He’s desperate to get back in the Brazil team this year (World Cup) and might be in a side that plays to his strengths - particularly if we can get Savinho and/or Eze. He’s had his first proper pre-season with us and there’s that underlying feeling that Frank knows how to make the best of what he’s got. We’ve been here before though. Fully expect him to break down with some new injury the day after the transfer window shuts and be out until February. If he can avoid injury he’ll absolutely be serviceable. He seems to be in a good place mentally which feels more important for him than most players. I certainly don’t think we’ll get somebody else in at this point, there is speculation that Frank will turn Brennan Johnson into more of an out-and-out forward to provide more cover there. He’s already turned down Saudi apparently which says a lot about his character and I can’t see anybody throwing enough money at us to make it worth our while right now.
  10. Flip side it’s them grinding out a 1-0 win in one of the tougher fixtures they’ll have.
  11. Money I think - PSR? Still a chance they do go for him IYAM.
  12. Feel like I post that in the Football Pet Hates thread every year.
  13. Oh wait I see the “bomb squad” post in the BBC chat.
  14. I’ve not really been paying attention but Man U’s bench looks a bit pants too. I know they’re missing Garnacho and Hojlund, who else is injured?
  15. Nah. Did you see Romero in the Europa Cup final? Think that’s his inspiration
  16. I can’t get my head round it tbh. Have to see how it plays out.
  17. It’s so ingrained . I made the pilgrimage to White Hart Lane on a bit of a whim yesterday because I was genuinely excited about the new season. If we weren’t completely skint (new puppy plus other stuff) we’d probably have tried to get tickets for either Spurs or Leyton Orient. There’s still something important there, but it’s buried under heaps of manure.
  18. I’ll take that. Now for the meteor strike and it’s a decent day’s work. Or as I posted elsewhere: Presuming a meteor strike is not on the cards, hoping for a turgid 0-0 that sparks into life when Arteta impedes Bruno Fernandes on the touch line and he chins him. Cue a melee and four red cards. Then more turgidity and 0-0 final score.
  19. Agreed, although tbf my Dad said the same 40 years ago, and right now I could say the same about so many aspects of life. It was always about community with me and the fact I’m now back in that community helps…for now.
  20. Tbf, it was worse 20 years ago. The differential in spending between the top four and the rest was even greater. At least the rest of the PL gets more money to spend now, but that’s just moved the chasm further down the pyramid.
  21. There’s a reason I’m doing a Newcastle-Online NFL Guillotine League this year as well as the normal one. And I’m a fucking Browns fan. Anything but football. I did get the family out yesterday to retrace the route I used to walk to Spurs with my Dad, and soak up the pre-match atmosphere. Still means something, but it’s dwindling.
  22. I’d have to look up why they added it, had no idea it was a thing. Presumably it was the usual combination of people taking the piss and refs not doing their job.
  23. Impressive amount of wrongness . I was wrong too - had no idea about that rule
  24. We’d have got Frank anyway. Definitely bought us some cash and maybe another season with Romero, although @Kid Icarus would argue that was a negative.
