It hasn’t given them any more scope, it’s just brought it out into the open a bit. Those shitty decisions today were absolutely typical and predictable. The one thing it has done I guess is add in other refs to help make the corrupt or inept decisions. Allowing the underdog to do whatever they want at corners then taking the opportunity to give them a consolation was entirely consistent with how refs have operated for eons.

I agree but the feeling I get isn’t horrible. I truly didn’t know how it would feel when it started, but I’ve barely been engaged at all. More factors than just FIFA + Qatar. Personal stuff like my Dad not being around and so much going on in my life, other stuff like England being desperately uninspiring and being in the US, but I cannot escape the feeling that a November World Cup just doesn’t do it. As a sometime Australian, I actually quite like the idea of a “winter” World Cup in principle, but there’s been much nonsense and bullshit around from day one.

Really? I missed that! It’s OK. There’s another micro right next door, which is nice. There are plenty better places around Summit County for beer, just the Spurs fan club is at that one. I think the US men’s supporters (name escapes me temporarily) meet at the Winking Lizard in Peninsula. That’s a nice location for a drink.
